  • In this video, my tractor started to blow the fuse going to the safety switches. It turned out to be a bad switch. I'll show you which one and how easy it was to replace.

The next time you are in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, I will buy you a beer. Thank you for pointing in the right direction. It was the HST Pedal switch. Even though it would measure open/closed when activated, it would occasional short during operation. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for this video. It’s gonna help me in the problem that I’m having your description of this was on point. Going to the store to pick up a neutral safety switch now thanks again.

For me it was the neutral switch now it’s the PTO switch, they seem to all have a life expectancy and need to be replaced at some point, seems to be a common theme

It is the fuse that provides a tiny amount of power to the safety switches.

Hello sir. Thx for video. I’m having a similar problem. Local dealer doesn’t think it that neutral switch but going to try anyway. When you were blowing those fuses, did you instrument cluster/display go dark? Thx!

Hello, I am going through the same issue on my B2650. Mine is the Panel/OPC fuse, 5 amp. Yes the display goes out. I found the service manual and has the schematic which has the Display Switch, Bi-speed Switch, Seat Switch, Parking Break Switch, PTO Selecting Switch, PTO ON/OFF Switch and HST Pedal Switch. All of which are difficult to access. When I put my ohmmeter on the load size of the fuse (made a jumper out of one of the blown fuses), I can see each switch change the impedance but the seat switch is lowest at 525 ohms. Now searching for what the values should be so I can pin-point which switch. Also did the shorted wire search with negative result.

Was it the ECU 5amp fuse???

No, it ended up being the pedal safety switch (part # 5T057). I switched that out and it ran fine. Now that I have over 800 hours on the tractor my pedal is sticking in the forward position (completely different issue). So I will need to make a video on solving that problem next.

I am researching the 5 amp blowing when the hst pedal is depressed. I am not versed in electrical issues but it seems to me to be something like the neutral. First we looked for worn or damaged wires. The tractor will start, depress to go forward, immediately it blows. New fuse tractor starts, depress to go backwards, immediately blows. After doing that a few times, now it seems the fuse blows as soon as the tractor key is turned. I am thinking the neutral switch. Hopefully as simple as the neutral switch.

What I did was buy a resettable fuse that was 15 amps. It would allow the tractor to run for about 10-15 minutes while I looked at the different switches. It would eventually blow but the nice thing was that it would reset itself after a few seconds and I would be able to restart the tractor and eventually find the problem.

@@natejacobson2174 Thank you for the tip. I read about those in a forum, using that type of fuse in the hunt for the issue. I never heard of those until looking for the solution for the continuously blowing 5 amp fuse.

Was the neutral switch the answer for you? Currently having the exact same issues
