It's simple, if you have a USB with your playlist, you have to convert it in the new format, but it will not work with older device, so you have to convert it in a different way, but all the change you made will be made on one or another playlist format depending on how old the gear you use, but if you got only the new format it will not be compatible with the old format and vice versa. I don't see what's confusing here. Just for comparison, Denon DJ update their software AND hardware when they release an update, just to avoid that kind of confusion ;)
Hypothetically, if you practiced at home on a controller that used Device Library Plus (DLP for short) and ONLY saved the DLP library on your USB, it wouldn't work at a club that uses any standalone CDJ, including the CDJ-3000, as no CDJ is compatible with DLP. I don't know if you can save a DLP without also saving a regular Device Library though, that's still a little unclear.
@@SebastianBlixI didn’t think there was a way to only save in device library plus. My understanding was allowing DL+ just meant it would make both versions DL and DL+ so you can just dj anywhere.
It's not very clear what the advantages of using the new format would be... just the inconvenience of no longer being able to use the format used up to now and getting bored of using two if you use different devices?
But whats the point? the existing database has worked on every type of controller/cdj. Why change it? you guys are really driving this brand into the ground!!
you should prioritise the track analysis it's so frustrating trying to import disco/funk originals..I've been pioneer since the 100's but djay pro analysis is so much better it's mental..
Your flagship and most current media players, the CDJ-3000 are NOT compatible with Device Library Plus. Will there be an update to the CDJ-3000 to address this or will we have to wait for the CDJ-3000 replacement?
What about 1 button in rekordbox to update my USB drive so its DLB and DLB+ compliant? Im not a GUI architect/engineer, but this should be possible? Why make it needlessly complicated?
The thing that bothers me is why... why is this necessary? I understand wanting to move into the future with a new programming, but this literally doesn't add anything feature wise to your library. And I'm not a programmer, but by not allowing cross talk between the two formats you've completely shot yourself in the foot. Pioneer DJ has made some makes questionable decisions and I don't think any of us should be surprised at this point that the company with a monopoly on the professional DJ world will continue to do whatever they want regardless of how it affects the consumer
This is probably the worst piece of technology ever introduced in the history of DJ tech. Completely incompatible, terrible drama when DJs show up with incompatible USB drives. I can’t comprehend how incapable the engineers at alphatheta are - the whole team should be fired for allowing this to happen.
Thanks! Now it's even more confusing!
AlphaTheta introduces backwards incompatibility to give you that little extra surprise when you turn up to a gig, yeaaah!

So wait, you're telling me at some point I might turn up to a gig an my USBs wont work?

What is the difference between Device Library and Device Library plus? Other than one works with bew equipment ans the other works with the old
So This is AlphaTheta's way to create their own "Lightining Connector" to force people to upgrade?
You can't call it a "standard" when it's in a proprietary format, you know? :)

Oh dear….
Now would be a great time if everybody switched to denon.

CDJ 4000 costing MORE and with worst reliability like the new AZ
garbage after garbage, this company is lost.
Why? You wanna start a shitstorm?

Does it work with Serato?
Yet again, it feels like AlphaTheta are actively trying to alienate & turn away the brand's customer base. Great job.
Vendor lock
This is terrible, confusing as F and no sense at all.

😑
Everyone, for now, if you aren’t spinning on an Opus Quad or the XDJ-AZ you don’t need to worry about this. It’s annoying but unnecessary otherwise.
I ordered an AZ. will my existing database not work ? it works on cdjs and my old xdj...
