Never mind 85/86 golden years, ‘89 was pretty bloody fantastic. So many good games from that year, some pushing the speccy to the peak of its capabilities.
People may take the piss out of the Speccy's signature colour clash but some of the games here show that in the right hands it was capable of some great graphics.
Chase H.Q, must the most accomplished car race game ever done on Speccy. I couldn't believe the playability and overall quality back when they released it. Ocean also did a great great job this year with the adaptation of "The New Zealand Story". My favorite from this selection though is MYTH, fantastic game.
although an owner of c64/128, every time i watch this videos i love more and more the bright colors and all the art put in this games due the limitations of the speccy, even the sounds and music (sometimes)
That's all good, but show please versions of games with AY-music if it possible. Awesome music in the game Batman 3 for example, but there is silence. A.M.C. also have a music.
Contrary to popular opinion, I actually thought the Speccy port of Hard Driving was pretty good. It was blown out of the water by Stunt Car Racer though.
Apart from lack of a SID chip, the Speccy games were always superior to the C64 versions, with their squat, ugly, dull colours running 300% slower on their crappy 1MhZ CPU !
Myth!!! I love Myth! For me, the best game of all the library, with Rex being close of this title too :)
Myth is a great example of what is possible to achieve on ZX Spectrum. Fantastic graphics and animations.

Agreed! Some of my favourite Speccy games were released in 89.

89 was my last year with my +2 got an Amiga for Christmas 90 was amazing in comparison
"The" Cycles, indeed. Such vanity.
Отличная подборка, играл в детстве почти во все эти игры.
Thank you!
Siempre lo he deseado, pero nunca tuve un ZX Spectrum.
After The War from Dinamic Software is not included here and was a terrific game released in 1989.
Actually, try watching the movie again (and try not to skip parts of it) ;)
