  • "Here is the install of a Tsunami2 decoder Part Number 885814. This unit is an HO scale ScaleTrains ES44AC BNSF 6163. This unit was originally DCC-ready, instead of using the factory decoder I removed the factory board. I had to remove all the light wires from the factory board. After that, I used double-sided tape to hold the decoder in place. I start with wiring the track power to the decoder. Next, I wire up the motor. The speaker is next to be wired up. After all that is working, I start with the headlight and backup light. With those working, I work next on the ditch lights, then the walkway lights, and number boards.
On this model, I have changed the CV values so that none of the lights are directional. The headlight is F0, the Ditch lights are F5, the Backup light is F6, the walkway lights and number boards are F9.
The thing I like about SoundTraxx decoders is the ease of their manuals, which allowed me to study them and change functions to my liking. They are easy to program and seem to be pretty much bulletproof. The customer service is top-notch and very helpful."-Kenny

Nice job. I did the same with a Scale Trains CSX SD40-3. I used a Decoder Buddy for installation of the TSU-PNEM8.. I couldn't get the LOKSOUND decoder removed fast enough.

Nice, but it’s still not a Norfolk Southern unit. Lol
