      Soccer is seen as a "family-friendly" non-standard sport in America, but also seen as a "bougie" sport, so there's a type it has historically attracted. Not exactly the same types of people showing up at MLS games as the people that'll chant profanities like the crowds in Baltimore or Philly for the Ravens or Eagles.

    You looked a bit confused by the Harry Potter chant...It was because the player warming up on the touchline looks like Voldemort, it's a prime example of how spontaneous the fans can be.
    If a player or one of his family are in the news for something they'd rather not be in the news for you can almost guarantee that come the next game the opposition fans will have a chant about it.

    Unlike American stadia, the visiting supporters are largely placed in the same stand. Most of the chants in these videos are filmed in the away end. The stadiums that create the best atmospheres are the ones where the home fans who sing and chant are next to the away fans. The other end of the Stadium (unless it's a big game where everybody gets involved) tends to be a bit more reserved. I think the American fans are slowly getting the idea but where the European fans excel is in the ability to come up with a witty line quite quickly. If you notice it's mostly to the same three or four melodies, the trick is to find words that will fit into those melodies and from time to time create a new one.

    The funniest and most creative comedians can be found on the terraces on a weekend. Some of them are absolutely ruthless, and if you made a mistake on or off the pitch, they will never let you forget it. Most of the chants are designed to put a particular player off his game, and by far the funniest one of those was 'You're just a fat granny shagger' aimed at Wayne Rooney. He was notoriously short tempered, and it became a game in itself to try to get him red carded.

    I’m pretty sure that the fans got in trouble for the Adebayor elephant chant. It was Tottenham fans we looked at it in class as examples of racism in popular culture.
    Also as other have said the Barbecue one is a rip off of an official England World Cup song.

    • @Isleofskye
      @Isleofskye Рік тому +3

      That was because Adebayor signed for Tottenham's bitter rivals Arsenal, which is highly unusual, and then after scoring for his new club against his old club, instead of the "quiet and respectful" celebration that an Ex Hero gives, Adebayor ran the whole length of the field to celebrate with his new fans. Hence the venomous chant.

    At A rugby 7's tournament a few years back some one dressed like a tennis player was hitting a tennis ball from the first row right to the back row. He then hit one up the open area of a corporate box. A guest lent to far over the balcony and nearly went over the edge. Security escorted the tennis player out, the crowd who were invested in the game (tennis) started booing. This was confined to about 2,000 people, but loud. After about 5 minutes, in the middle of a rugby match, some bright spark started chanting "We want tennis", this time it wasn't confined to 2,000 people, probably 2 to 3 times that number and went on for about 4 minutes and stopped, to a standing ovation, when the tennis player returned to his seat. To this day is still wonder what the rugby players thought was going on in the crowd.

    By the looks of things, it's Man United Vs Chelsea so I'm guessing that the "racist centre half" being referred to would be John Terry who has been accused of racism on a few occasions including to Anton Ferdinand (who's brother Rio played for Man United for a long time)

    in my country there was a period from 1997 to 2005 or so, when country went thru huge social, economical etc changes and almost every game turned into riots with police, then it kinda toned down, but till today police hav ea tenedncy to just allow anything to happen ( except fights among fans, serious hate speaches) during games, coz you have 3000 fans watxching the game, euqal number outside stadium and half less police on site, so if there are not fights, no cannons on chairs , no flares throwing to grass or onto other people, they just ignore it, coz if they go and engage it could turn into fight with police, spreado utside stadium to city streets and turn into riots..

    Not the subject of the video but I would like to recommend two great videos. I think you will enjoy. 1. Cristiano Ronaldo Fighting Till The End (part I, II and III)
    2. Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi • THE END IS NEAR.

    The chant "Where's your racist centre half" is aimed at the Chelsea centre-back John Terry by supporters of Manchester United.
    In 2011 he allegedly called the Queens Park Rangers (QPR) centre-back Anton Ferdinand a "fu**ing black c*nt" and "fu**ing knobhead" during a match between Chelsea and QPR in October 2011. Although he later tried to back track, he was charged with using racist language by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service), a charge of which he was acquitted for. However, the English Football Association (FA) stripped him of his England captainsy, for the second time. In 2010 he was stripped of his arm band after an affair with the ex girlfriend of Wayne Bridge. who at the time played with Terry in Chelsea and in the national team. Although probably unrelated, the captainsy went to Anton's brother Rio (who at the time played for United), and later sentenced him to a four match ban and a fine of £220,000.
    As a consequence of the sentence from the FA, he announced that he would retire from the national team.

And I remember the chants we used in high school. If I could go back I'd definitely get the team (girls teams here,) to do it the British way it would have so much more impact.
