- It's not often you get asked to be a part of something innovative, exciting and really cool and that's exactly what happened here! For the past year or so, we have been working with Max from Table Top Tech (www.tabletoptech.com) to create a fantastic all round hobby case using their hot-swapable Mechi System. The case allows you to carry all manner of your favourite paint brands (Two Thin Coats of course as well as Citadel, Army Painter and Vallejo among others) On top of that, it can carry a wide range of miniatures in both size and base type. No magnets involved here, just really, really smart engineering.

I didn't realise that DRPA was the acronym for this channel for a second, so I though DARPA had made a hobby case for plastic figurines

I was massively surprised at the pricing of these, I expected them to be so much more money...

Even at cheaper than expected, if you don't travel enouth to need it, then you can do it alot cheaper. Nail polish stands or the flatpack MDF ones are more than half the price, and kinda take up less space.
Will the STL files be sold so we could print this ourselves or will it be physically sold and this is just a 3D printed prototype?
Oh I can’t wait until we DRPA The Flamethrower and DRPA The Toilet paper. But seriously looks neat.

So the actual product is 3d printed? Or is this a prototype being shown off and the actual one will be injection molded?
Price is pretty reasonable for what you get.

@@partack1 In a normal plastic box from ikea, i don't toss them around, they don't need bulletproof protection.
@@Edhelduiwhatever works for you, it’s like the people who keep using synthetic brushes because they know they’re good enough to work with them and don’t need sable ones. But some people want that extra security for their minis.

Its very swish and all, but at £88? Admittedly there are more expensive cases out there but I'm sticking with my £30 cantilever tool box and magnets

Seems super over engineered to achieve something so basic. A box for paints and minis.
Talking from personal experience here, I went to a convention where they were showing off these cases. They were ok, a bit flimsy, but the customer service was horrendous, they were good at trying to sell it and build hype for this collaboration, however when I inquired about getting one built and getting the correct modules:
They didn't have any in stock at the time, or rather, one that was not broken.
Half of the cases and modular clips were broken, and they did not respond to any orders placed or issues people pointed out. They were unorganised and when any criticism or questions were asked or given, it was just straight out ignored. I'd be wary of this product

If a Mechi case arrived to you in a state of damage we absolutely will replace any damaged components for you. Furthermore, for any help regarding configuring builds we’re very much able to assist you. If you’d like to write to us regarding some of these issues you’ve faced either by email or our live chat, as well as letting me know what happened exactly I’d be more than willing to ensure we fix this for you. We did face a surge that swamped us for a brief time there, so if any request was left unattended we really would like to correct this for you. Again, sorry if you’ve not had a good customer service experience, this is something we usually pride ourselves on and will take great measures to fix for you :)

Do I need to apply two thin coats to this for maximum protection?
Yes. And you have to be as neat as possible.

I love these guys, met Max at last year's UK Games Expo in Birmingham, really friendly and personable guy. Their new case design look great

Looks really good ! I would say the brush holders would of been better if the brushes were facing down instead of up
I got to preorder one of these at UKGE, as well as meet Duncan, Max, and his fantastic family who were there with him. The case is amazingly good in real life, and as soon as I saw what it could do, I was sold! The fact that it's supporting such a great, friendly bunch of people is just a bonus!
Sorry Duncan, but I for one won’t be purchasing this one. It is over engineered and gimmicky.

Is the final product 3D printed? I would assume so because the product description says "High Temperature ABS", which I find incredibly disappointing.
So where am I putting... my water cup, my paper towel/tissue, my brush cleaner, my pallettes, my... well, half of the essential bits I need to bring? This is very practical for the things it does carry but it leaves me with needing to bring a second thing to transport the rest in.
I initially read that as DARPA, as in Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and I was very confused.
So making this a good photo booth for miniatures as well would be awesome. Maybe being able to put white interior pannels?
Think it is the first after foam case that i like for miniatures. I hope the price is good also and not way to high.

Isn't storing brushes tip-up meant to be quite bad for their tips and lifespan?
I think once they’re completely dry, it’s safe to store them tip up.
You want to let your brush tips always point straight down (where gravity is pulling them bla bla) while drying, so once they dry their shape is unchanged and the tip stays pointy and strong. Once the brush is dry there should not be a big difference with the orientation you are placing them. The only exception I could imagine is if you are storing them for months and years, but at that point you should probably worry more about dust collecting on the brushtip and therefore storing them somewhere safely in a box or so.

Is it only pimaris space marines sized bases that can be secured in the module?
Thinking about e.g. cadian bases which are smaller or terminator sized bases which are bigger.
