5600 is definitely a better choice for gamers in terms of value. It is just about 5% slower than 5700x (mainly due to lower stock core frequency).
But even B650s are not that expensive these days. There are plenty of them for $120. And 7500f is $150. 7500f is faster than 5700x by 20-25%. 32GB of 6000MHz DDR5 costs about $80-$90. AM5 is pretty affordable these days.

@@stangamer1151 true but lately 5600 is 130 and 5700x is 160 so if you can use the extra cores it's worth 30 bucks. If not than 5600 is best

@@rjy87 You can find 5600 for $110-$120. But if you really need extra cores, then, yes, 5700x is a great choice at it's current price. Unfortunately only a few games can really use more than 6 cores. Cyberpunk is probably the only AAA game among them though.

For me personally I look at X and K parts as a way to extend the useful life of a CPU before I have to upgrade it. So run it stock for 2 or 3 years for stability reasons if used for work then tune it and get another 2 years out of it before have to do a platform change.

"Bottlenecking" is relative to what you're playing. I play some games where a 5950X is still a bottleneck for a 6800XT. A 5800X3D would've made sense if I didn't have use cases for the additional threads. Moving to a 7950X3D was an easy call in my case.

Main reason i swapped to a 7800x3d is because i dont want a cpu in the 3 digit watts while im playing games. Intel kinda sh*t the bed after the 8700k in power efficiency just to somewhat keep performance parity with AMD. Maybe in the future I will reconsider getting a intel part again once they make sane cpu's again.

My personal counter point to buying LGA1700 and tinkering (in 2023), is that the money you'd need to spend on the super high end RAM, put in to just the best AM5 board you can that you won't have a reason to replace. You'll get the same amount of useful time in CPUs in both platforms, but the EOL options on AM5 1-2 years after release will be super cheap, with a massive perf boost. Now I do more than just game with my computer, but I bought a $480 AM5 board that has PCIe5.0, 10GBe and USB4. Short of it outright dying, it has the IO to go the distance for everything, and I could possibly only need a better CPU in 5-8 years. It kind of baffles me that we've witnessed AM4 go from the 1800X to a 3950X/5950X and then 5800X3D, and someone can say LGA1700 somehow looks like a reasonable buy when EOL. Like you could have bought a 7700K back then, just to need to include a board (minimum) to get anything better. I bought the 4790K EOL, needed more threads plus an OC had it matching a stock 7700K. That Z97 board also actually died, most likely the VRMs from what it took to push the OC.

I mean here in Canada, a 5800X3D is still same price as a 12700K, and more expensive than a 12700KF. The deals are simply gone here. if still on AM4, X3d is still cheaper than a full platform switch, and to go X3D is roughly same cost to DDR5 intel switch. Why are people so mad? Intel said it was a refresh... geez...
Also the 14900K runs a +200 MHz on all cores compared to the 13900K. 14900K is 5.7 GHz all core while 13900K is 5.5 GHz all core.

There are feature differences. It's per core thermal throttling is an advantage over the 13900K, and it seems to have more core temp uniformity. Overall it's more efficient than the 13900K. All that said, this shouldn't have a nominal designation as a new gen.
