So you're not misled, this is sometimes what it entails (and it's ace!) Apologies to Rob Eavis for unashamedly recycling his words.

I like to imagine I'm the 1st to explore it and nobody knows if it ever gets wider again. Can you even imagine being the first asshole to say im going to work my way through this what if it floods what if the rock shifts what if it never opens up and I can't tern around. You definitely have to be thigmotropic!

That was a joke, no, I don't have claustrophobia, and no, that is not what phobia means... That's like saying if I'm afraid of failing a class, I have phobia of it, but I don't, if I do fail, I just move on.
Phobia is basically fear times a thousand, to a point where It mentally affects you. Yes, I can get scared in the situation in the video, although with a hint of thrill, that would not mean, that I will have a great fear of tight spaces altogether, and that I will not be able to continue crawling through due to my brain freaking out too much.
Although, I could get claustrophobia. But probably not. It's just a joke. Don't overthink it too much, bro.

REDCELL Arn't phobias fears that are generally irrational and unfounded? I for instance have phobias of both spiders (most crawly things in general) and submecanphobia (spelled wrong I'm sure) or fear of submerged man mad objects. Neither of these things present me with any real danger (for the most part) yet they make every hair on my body stand up in my presence.

Everyone says “I’m claustrophobic” (myself included) , when in reality is just a fear of getting stuck and die (which is a pretty obvious fear, who would want that?).
My dad, however, is a real claustrophobic and needs to visit a psychologist twice a year. If I show him this video, he suddenly has high pressure and starts sweating like crazy until he passes out. Like FACE MELTER said, there is a difference between a general fear of dying and a phobia, which is extremely irrational and affect your daily life.

ThunderBolt523 Lol I cant explain this but I’ll try to be specific as I possibly can. Anxiety is like people being nervous, worried, or scared. For example, when your getting ready to present a project, you get so worried and scared that you start to get a bad stutter in front of all the people. That’s all I know but again, I’m not a very good explainer

"The entrance to the cave was discovered in 1957 by Vic Howells. Further investigation and the removal of debris showed an entrance in which a pool of water accumulated. In the ensuing period, the water was drained away and a 400 feet (120 m) passage was revealed ending in a boulder choke.[1] The major breakthrough into the system beyond the entrance series occurred in 1984, before which the cave consisted of little more than the entrance series and several uninspiring passages.[2] In 1986 Martyn Farr connected the Terminal Sump to Elm Hole in the next valley by cave diving.[3] After decades of work and numerous cave digging projects, a connection to the nearby cave Ogof Agen Allwedd has yet to be found, even though they are only 75 metres (246 ft) away at their closest point."

I remember one of the girls in my caving club going into work the Monday after a trip down Daren Cilau. She was wearing a summer dress with bare arms and legs. At lunch time one of her colleagues came up to her in the ladies toilet and said:
"Some of us couldn't help noticing you have a lot of bruises. Is everything o.k at home?"
My friend replied cheerfully "Oh, don't worry, they're just from Daren at the weekend."
It was only later that she thought that she probably should have rephrased that or explained that Daren was a cave!

    • @EpicxEvolution
      @EpicxEvolution 6 років тому

Mel*of*Winterfell Oh wow, I see where you're coming from. Surprisingly most of those don't bother me. Probably because of some subconscious view of them as 'a choice'.
Seeing a finger dangling, heart/brain surgery, a knee being snapped back into place, etc at a hospital* would end with me having a serious sickly feeling and bent over due to extreme discomfort in the same area as the afflicted.
This cave-squeezing actually looks fun to me. XD

People say they don't know why people do this. Just imagine how satiesfkngt it is to move your body freely after going through this hell. This is a feeling that not all people can say they have had, and it truly must be invigorating

Yes they do it all the time underwater too. If they’re no exit they simply back up and turn around the same way they came in.

GIZMO thats some weird shit. You HAVE to be strong with both sides of your body then. Imagine having to go back with your weak arm.

Duhqz Well for most starting caves it’s much more wide so you can craw like a crab so you don’t get tired as much because your thighs and feet are pushing. But this cave is very advanced skill requirement wise, one must have very strong upper strength.

I am glad that I can watch this now. I used to be "triggered" by this and feel anxiety. Now, it's like nothing. Which means fear is only in our heads. You can overcome it.
Watching it & doing it are 2 totally different stories though. But it's a big step.

It isn't the claustrophobia, it's the helplessness of being unable to move and there's nothing you can do about it.
