The Vice Ogof y Daren Cilau (Warning: Do NOT watch if claustrophobic)

So you're not misled, this is sometimes what it entails (and it's ace!) Apologies to Rob Eavis for unashamedly recycling his words.

"Dont watch if claustrophobic ." You know the vast majority of these views are claustrophobic people looking to freak themselves out.
Accurate 😂
Yip that’s me brudda
Guilty lol
😂
I like to imagine I'm the 1st to explore it and nobody knows if it ever gets wider again. Can you even imagine being the first asshole to say im going to work my way through this what if it floods what if the rock shifts what if it never opens up and I can't tern around. You definitely have to be thigmotropic!
I'm not claustrophobic. But if I get in there, I'm pretty sure I'll instantly develop it.
REDCELL if you are afraid of it now then you already have it
That was a joke, no, I don't have claustrophobia, and no, that is not what phobia means... That's like saying if I'm afraid of failing a class, I have phobia of it, but I don't, if I do fail, I just move on.
Phobia is basically fear times a thousand, to a point where It mentally affects you. Yes, I can get scared in the situation in the video, although with a hint of thrill, that would not mean, that I will have a great fear of tight spaces altogether, and that I will not be able to continue crawling through due to my brain freaking out too much.
Although, I could get claustrophobia. But probably not. It's just a joke. Don't overthink it too much, bro.
REDCELL I'm not afraid of chainsaws but if a man is chasing me with one, I'm probably gonna be scared of it lol
Patrick Kessner Ha! Pretty much everyone would be scared, dude!
REDCELL Arn't phobias fears that are generally irrational and unfounded? I for instance have phobias of both spiders (most crawly things in general) and submecanphobia (spelled wrong I'm sure) or fear of submerged man mad objects. Neither of these things present me with any real danger (for the most part) yet they make every hair on my body stand up in my presence.
There’s a difference between claustrophobia and a fear of dying a slow lonely death in a dark cave because you’re wedged in a tunnel
That's exactly what claustrophobia means, right??
@@HimanshuSharma-vt8ke I'm not claustrophobic at all, and have gone caving previously through some very tight tunnels, however I would never attempt anything like this for the reasons mentioned :))
Everyone says “I’m claustrophobic” (myself included) , when in reality is just a fear of getting stuck and die (which is a pretty obvious fear, who would want that?).
My dad, however, is a real claustrophobic and needs to visit a psychologist twice a year. If I show him this video, he suddenly has high pressure and starts sweating like crazy until he passes out. Like FACE MELTER said, there is a difference between a general fear of dying and a phobia, which is extremely irrational and affect your daily life.
@@xoelcolon6259 Yes but I still think that the first person to explore thie cave didnt really care about his life
plus the realisation and regret after they put themselves in such position literally

Chris Liotta I've done some thing like this less extreme of course and hated every second of it
Just to think that the first person to discover that tight crawl space was like yeah I’m gonna go in there and who knows where I’ll end up

I understand why people BASE jump, I understand why people rock climb but I don’t think I could ever understand why someone would squeeze their selves Into tiny holes underground.
For those same reasons, but also the chance to possibly see something that no one else has ever seen that's been locked away underground
@@michaelbranscum6456 It's going to look exactly like the same shit they just crawled through to get there!
Maybe for adrenaline
Adrenaline rush.
I rock climb every week, I did base jumping a couple of times, I love adrenaline, I love heights, but this is too much, makes me feel unconfortable and anxious just watching it.

A frightening thought is that at some point someone had to go through there first without any help or knowledge of what was ahead...
To navigate unexplored passages you go feet first, that way when you think you cant squeeze further, you can always come back.
@@11Khalid11 still terrifying as all get out
This video amazingly cures my depression.. it changed all of it into anxiety. Nice.
What do u mean??
What gets you thinking is the fact that somebody crawled through that the first time, not knowing if there was an exit they could climb out of...
Nick Steven maybe they used a trained scouting bat?
Most likely but id like to believe they used a camera probe or something...
Nick Steven Didn't some guy die pinned upside down in some cave system after they spent a day trying to chisel him out?
Arthur Dent yeah, guys name was John Jones I believe
Nick Steven of course there is a exit. It's called, go back the way you came from.
Unless there's a pot of gold or a lifetime supply of mind-blowing coitus waiting at the destination, I see no point in this activity.

What is anxiety?
ThunderBolt523 Lol I cant explain this but I’ll try to be specific as I possibly can. Anxiety is like people being nervous, worried, or scared. For example, when your getting ready to present a project, you get so worried and scared that you start to get a bad stutter in front of all the people. That’s all I know but again, I’m not a very good explainer

"The entrance to the cave was discovered in 1957 by Vic Howells. Further investigation and the removal of debris showed an entrance in which a pool of water accumulated. In the ensuing period, the water was drained away and a 400 feet (120 m) passage was revealed ending in a boulder choke.[1] The major breakthrough into the system beyond the entrance series occurred in 1984, before which the cave consisted of little more than the entrance series and several uninspiring passages.[2] In 1986 Martyn Farr connected the Terminal Sump to Elm Hole in the next valley by cave diving.[3] After decades of work and numerous cave digging projects, a connection to the nearby cave Ogof Agen Allwedd has yet to be found, even though they are only 75 metres (246 ft) away at their closest point."

I did several trips down Daren, the last being around 10 years ago. I thought I remembered that entrance crawl well, but I'd somehow managed to block out the memory of the vice. Watching this brought it all back - not sure I'd fit these days!
I haven't done it for about 5 years and I'm not sure if I will ever feel like doing it again!
I remember one of the girls in my caving club going into work the Monday after a trip down Daren Cilau. She was wearing a summer dress with bare arms and legs. At lunch time one of her colleagues came up to her in the ladies toilet and said:
"Some of us couldn't help noticing you have a lot of bruises. Is everything o.k at home?"
My friend replied cheerfully "Oh, don't worry, they're just from Daren at the weekend."
It was only later that she thought that she probably should have rephrased that or explained that Daren was a cave!
+speleokeir Great story.

Well it made me smile. :-)
I guess you don't understand British humour. She found it funny, as did her colleagues when they realised she enjoyed caving and not some kind of kinky love life.

Different strokes for different people I guess.
Mel*of*Winterfell Oh wow, I see where you're coming from. Surprisingly most of those don't bother me. Probably because of some subconscious view of them as 'a choice'.
Seeing a finger dangling, heart/brain surgery, a knee being snapped back into place, etc at a hospital* would end with me having a serious sickly feeling and bent over due to extreme discomfort in the same area as the afflicted.
This cave-squeezing actually looks fun to me. XD
No thank you ill wait outside
