    Deluxe Models canopy glue is also ideal for the nameplates as it has excellent grab, super clear when dry!

    It wasn’t on my radar as such as i have a full fat Royal version already, but this was such a good deal i bought both versions for a bit of converting later on! Bargains they are!!! Well done TMC!!

    Not sure if it’s my cup of tea, but it’s certainly an attractive choice for someone who wants a locomotive to run all the time. On the cheap, that is!!

    Hi Jenny, I’ve had Royal Diamond 67 for awhile now. Had no problems with any noise, I do have mine chipped with a Hornby R8549 decoder. Yes it runs great. Great review as usual.

    Very good loco.
    Certainly value for money.
    Take care Jenny

    These are decent models when at the lower price, but I'd take a 2nd hand re-tool version over them as often can be found for a little more. I much preferred this loco with the EWS beasties on it. Ace video as always.

      This is what I was wondering ie how do you know which are the re-tooled versions. I have several of the original release 67s which I assume are the basis of these RR Plus models now (keeping up with the Hornby RR, RR+ and re-tooled models is a full time job) to get best VFM. I find the underframe detail on the std issue a bit non-desript. Was the Royal Diamond in the EWS managers pack with the EWS Beasties on it the re-tooled version, and did it have sound fitted as I have seen mentioned elsewhere? Thanks for any information.

    • @TheseTwoRails

      @@paredding The quickest way to spot the retool is the top cooler grill is actually a grill, not a moulded piece into the roof, and the retool also has working top lights and red backwards lights.

    I bought the maroon Queens Messenger version which has extra nameplates along with a class 67 TTS sound decoder for less tan £100. You really cannot go wrong at that price. Performs better than models costing twice as much.

  • @stephendavies6949

    It passes the "3 foot test". Also, you don't get all the seperately fitted detailed parts falling off the first time you pick the thing up!
    Shame the mechanism isn't a but more robust.
    But still, a great value model.

    Another really useful and educational video. I have a couple of Lima 67s in store and you have prompted me to get them out, chipped and on the layout. I bet a stay-alive would be useful on the Hornby model,

    Nice video - I'd suggest taking a more detailed look at how the couplings are fitted - as they are not NEM sockets or the old Airfix style clip-in design, so would be difficult to change for narrow tension lock (or other designs of coupling).

    • @JenniferEKirk
      @JenniferEKirk  9 місяців тому +1

      Replacement couplings need modifying to fit but it can be done.

    • @MistaMatthews
      @MistaMatthews 9 місяців тому

      I replaced the couplings with Hunts designed for Airfix. They fit surprisingly well.

    • @cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801
      @cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801 9 місяців тому

      @@MistaMatthews Are you talking about the same tooling as I can't get the existing coupling to detach like the Airfix ones do and the diagram in the leaflet that came with the model shows a very odd fitting.
      EDIT: OK I have now got the existing coupling detached and definitely Airfix style clip in couplings will not work

    • @MistaMatthews
      @MistaMatthews 9 місяців тому

      @@cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801 yep. Same tooling. I’d show you a picture but I don’t know how through UA-cam. The couplings on this 67 can be unclipped which leaves a small notch underneath. The Airfix hunt coupling can be glue around it which creates the perfect height and distance.

    • @cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801
      @cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801 9 місяців тому

      @@MistaMatthews Ahh I should have stated they cannot be changed without modification or using glue (as I like to change couplings on locos in a way that can be changed back)

    Why have Hornby removed the quality flywheel twin bogie drive system? That was the best feature of the Lima 67. It's also odd Hornby haven't used the NEM bogie they designed for the Lima 67.
    They've deliberately made this model worse, perhaps to differentiate it from their, now mediocre, full fat 67.

    • @paredding
      @paredding 4 місяці тому

      Why is the newly tooled 'full fat' Class 67 'mediocre? Just curious. Thanks

      @@pareddingIt's not up to the modern standards of Accurascale and Cavalex. It lacks fine detail, the cab interior is crude grey plastic with no additional parts and nothing is painted. Cab doors don't open, it's only 8 pin so lacks dcc functionality. It's also poorly built especially the first batch with scratches and paint touch ups by the factory. It's ok but could have been so much better.
