5 months ago, popular Ghanaian UA-camr, Wode Maya, and his wife, Miss Trudy, visited Jamaica. They tried Jamaica’s national dish, ackee and salt fish. In a video on Miss Trudy’s UA-cam channel, she shows Wode Maya trying ackee and saltfish. He takes one bite, says, “Hmnn” and moves on to another food on the table. At the very end of the video, Miss Trudy shows a plate of ackee and salt fish and says, “I’m just not a big fan of ackee, but it’s ok. Maybe it is something that will grow on me, but not yet." She then quickly starts talking about banana bread and ends the video. She does not show herself trying to eat the ackee and saltfish on camera. This is how you diplomatically handle trying a food you don’t like without insulting your hosts and viewers.

Travelling expose us to all different kinds of people and their culture. I always read about a country and their lifestyle, food and weather if it is my very first time visiting there. I am a jamaican who tried the frying fish along with mash potatoes just across the airport there is a small cook shop close by on I did fulljoy on 2 different occassion 😊 Sorry for your experience...I guess different restaurant will season different for taste 😊

Sucking all the ketchup off the fries and putting them back for you all to est. Nothing is worse than Jacia opening her mouth, showing the food. Your subscribers did not take you to the right place to eat. Flying fish is very tasty if it is seasoned properly.

WHEN YOU ALL ARE HAVING SOMETHING OR EH FIRST TIME....JUST BUY ONE AND TASTE BEFORE AND THEN YOU CAN KNOW IF YOU ALL LIKE IT OR NOT. THOSE CORNMEAL STUFF..COU-COU (Barbados), TURN CORNMEAL (Jamaica), FUNGI (Antigua and Barbuda) etc I think it must be eaten with the meat and the sauce together. just tasting it by itself won't give you a proper taste. I don't eat turn cornmeal but I have eaten fungi which is made with plenty of okra and some butter and its very nice.. It took me a while before I got accustomed and right now it is amazing. I am hoping to try our turn cornmeal one of these days....
That insipid coucou and flying fish is a disgrace to Bajans- the fish is not even fried properly. Coucou is a legacy of the African slaves who came to Barbados so that cooking tradition honors them. But everyone won't like it and not most kids. Appreciate Natalie and Sham for the respect and appreciaton they showed for Barbados and wish them and the kids a safe trip home.

Anytime you want to sample a country's national dish you go to a local's home preferably and elderly woman's home that way you get the true authentic flavour of the food, restaurants usually cater for international dinners so flavours are reduced because they figure that a lot of people don't like highly season or spicy food. We in Barbados don't prepare cou cou and flying fish with fried fish, the fish is steamed in gravy, when I saw the dish you had I could tell it wasn't appetizing the gravy didn't even had any colour so please remember the next time you want to taste a national dish please don't go to a restaurant.🤔💯😊

You made unpleasant faces, smirked, talked for a prolonged period of time about how bad it tasted, gave it to Jade to try and showed her expressing her displeasure, used a picture of Jade making an unpleasant face as the thumbnail for the video titled, “Trying Barbados National dish…”, showed a video of yourself in bed complaining about how yukky the food was and how badly you felt, and then, to add insult to injury, went into the comments section and joked with a rude, disrespectful person who said the food looked like dog food in his yard. Natalie, views of your videos have been consistently dropping since you arrived in Barbados, from 31,000 views for the first video to just over 5,000 views for your video about Harrison’s Cave. Jamaicans usually tell it like it is. But I think it's more her repeating her dislike too much. She said "the food was not nice" but it may not be the food but the cooking. Not all restaurants cook good food and when you spend your hard earned money but it is her first time travelling and can improve on respectfully, expressing disappointments or dislike but then no matter what you say, some people will always be disappointed *No one likes to hear the truth.*.

Them cant called that tun cornmeal or fufu, that is not how the Continent fufu look and or how turned cornmeal is. Nat., do tried the authentic tun cornmeal in Jamaica cooked with coconut milk and well seasoned. Trust its nice.
This is why I tell people, nothing compares to Jamaican cooking, but it cam also depends on whose cooking and the consistency. The best at #1 at times #2, thus far it remains in the lead. I have traveled and lived up to 6 months in all the Caribbean Islands, except Haiti that which I spend 2 months on missionary service work. Even when its a Jamaica restuarant on the island or the fusion thereof, the food still be lacking as if they forget how their granny teach them, 😂😂 Whilst other Islands can take the hospitality and kindness card, they can't with the cooking. Many times its a give and take, everyone can't be a 10 For the seasoning is off or the food lacking proper seasoning and have no taste. 07.25.24; added addendum to the above: Only applies to the Caribbean Islands, not any fusion therein, not Thai, Japanese, Asian, and other countries cuisine. Again many no matter the country will fall short sometimes, if consistancy is not in the food made with a heart for the love of food. #Food is Life & Medicine. Some are worse than hospital or elderly food served at the elderly senior home. No joke

My sister and I went and took the bus and whilst at the bus terminal we went to this restaurant eatery and the food was not up to par We even stayed at the hotel and the food was blan and not cooked well. Everything they add sauce or it needed some kund of sauce. Yet people were indulging My sister loss 6 pounds within a week, eating fruits and found pastries shop

As a chef or cook this is how one improves him or her self…. I don’t think they have to apologize to no Barbadian public…

That's when she's most happy 😊 . This is a money game for them n ppl to feel sorry n send them things. Maybe take a look at what you do that became who you are.

Jamaicans usually tell it like it is. But I think it's more her repeating her dislike too much. She said "the food was not nice" but it may not be the food but the cooking. Not all restaurants cook good food and when you spend your hard earned money but it is her first time travelling and can improve on respectfully, expressing disappointments or dislike but then no matter what you say, some people will always be disappointed

This is why I tell people, nothing compares to Jamaican cooking, but it cam also depends on whose cooking and the consistency.

I have traveled and lived up to 6 months in all the Caribbean Islands, except Haiti that which I spend 2 months on missionary service work.
Even when its a Jamaica restuarant on the island or the fusion thereof, the food still be lacking as if they forget how their granny teach them, 😂😂
Whilst other Islands can take the hospitality and kindness card, they can't with the cooking. Many times its a give and take, everyone can't be a 10
For the seasoning is off or the food lacking proper seasoning and have no taste.

Thai food is great too - not onmy Jamaucan- Jamaucan food is too elaborate and time consuming buy yes it is god too but deoends on what your taste bud like
My sister and I went and took the bus and whilst at the bus terminal we went to this restaurant eatery and the food was not up to par
We even stayed at the hotel and the food was blan and not cooked well.
Everything they add sauce or it needed some kund of sauce. Yet people were indulging
