Have you gotten sucked into the DVC trap and feel like you need more points now? I luckily am not there yet, but definitely something I'm a bit concerned about for the future. If that Disneyland DVC Tower ever opens though dang that's a solid option for an add-on for me personally.

I am impressed. I don’t think that she took a single breath during that video.

I’ve thought of the three year rotation too! Not that I travel to Disney annually or have any plans to buy DVC, but it’s fun to dream!

Eeep following a FB site seems dangerous haha, so tempting! I definitely try to avoid those that way I have to actively go to resale sites to look and I never just stumble upon anything lol.
      Thanks for watching!!

Do they offer any different deals when you buy add-on points as to when you initially purchase?

It’s so variable I’m hesitant to give you anything concrete, haha. But yes incentives for existing members adding on points can be different than incentives offered to folks who would be purchasing DVC for the first time.

Can you add on points directly through Disney if the original contract was purchased in resale market? Is there a higher minimum?

Hi Cara! I haven't literally done this, but as far as I can tell yes. I'm a resale member with restrictions and I still have full access to the add-on point tool online. It benefits Disney to get your money, so I don't see why they would limit it, haha. In terms of point mins, no there isn't a difference. Though note that new properties sometimes do have higher point mins, so the point min in general can be in flux, but once you are a member (resale or direct) to the best of my knowledge your point min for adding on is the same. I hope this helps!

Thinking of get 500 points at Saratoga springs, should I do it 2 contract of 250 each at the same resort or just do one contract

Hi there, Yeidaliz! As with all things DVC, it really depends. The overarching theme is if you want to protect your resale value in case you run into unexpected expenses than yes breaking it up into smaller contracts is likely a good idea. It's a bit harder to find folks who want to buy a 500 point resale contract compared to smaller contracts!
If you're planning on buying directly from Disney I would personally suggest yes breaking it up into 2 contracts. You will end up paying more in closing costs I believe, so that may not be worth it to you.
Overall I am a big proponent of buying on the resale market, and not directly through Disney, to save on a ton of money. If you're going the resale route it may honestly just be easiest to wait for a single large contract to become available. Finding multiple smaller contracts for the same resort with the same use year can definitely be a challenge, and may not be worth it! But if you are willing to do the hunting and perhaps be picking up random contracts here and there over the span of several months then again, having a few smaller contracts likely protects your resale a value a bit more.
But if you are planning on keeping your contract until it expires, or giving the deed to a friend or family member, you can always do one single large contract for ease!
It really comes down to what you value most. There's no wrong answers here. Let me know if you have further questions; I'm happy to try to help you work through your exact situation. Thanks so much for watching and commenting - I really appreciate it!

I’m a resale owner. But I was wondering - could I become a full dvc owner if I gradually bought points direct with Disney? Like what if for the next three years I purchased 50 points, which would add up to the 150? Or do I have to buy the 150 in one go? Just wondering!

    • @PixieDustPhD

Hey there! They are always subject to change their own rules, so a little bit TBD, but yes - at least last time I checked you can buy bit by bit directly from Disney and have those accumulate! The min purchase directly from Disney can vary (based on time of year you buy and resort) - 50 points, to my knowledge, has always been okay, but I know some folks want like 25-30 points or so and that's not always something Disney is willing to sell directly.
So, sorry to ramble, haha. Long story short: largely yes! But for the exact/fine details, you will want to speak to a DVC guide!
