"Robot dragonfly kidnaps child" - Doesn't sound like a dream works style movie to me - but i think it'd still be 'pitchable'.
Sam Calin Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, Rise of the Guardians, Antz, Turbo... something tells me it could fit ;)
I'd call it "Wonders of a new world". Animation film about how children choose to accompany a weird looking robot and travel to another dimension. Where only children live. The children don't age in this dimension, and they can choose to return to the original world.
For a plot, I would say something is preventing the children from getting home, but there is one kid that finds a way, and so an adventure begins.
You gotta think big though :d
Techrodd Your story got me thinking. It's nice, but to go along with the picture a bit more I created a different plot. Since in the picture it looks like a very industrialized area, with smoke and pollution this is what I quick thought up.
Thousands of years in the future Earth has changed. It's in an unstable condition of deterioration, with a dark future that may be impossible to change.
The humans industrialized much of the earth, polluting a once beautiful world.
An alien race appears, and they bond with the children of the world in secret.
The alien race is revealed to be not so alien after all. They were once humans who cared dearly for earth's well being, but grew tired of the general public's inability to care. They ventured into space to find a new world to call home.
After searching endlessly they find a planet suitable for life. However compared to earth, the habitat is harsh and not what humans are used to. These former humans have evolved very fast due to the need to adapt to their new home planet which explains their unrecognizable figures.
Thousands of years later they return to earth with hope of improvement for a planet that held so much potential.
Realized that Earth is in an even worse state than they left it they look to the children who will decide the fate of the world for help.
The former humans show the children that Earth is such a rare type of planet that humans have been taking for granted. Life elsewhere is far and few, yet humans continue to destroy such a uniquely beautiful planet.
The children are shown the few remaining natural beauties that the world has to offer, and they begin to realize that their ancestors are the ones who caused the destruction and pollution. It's up to the children to change the fate of a dying Earth.
