As much as I love this animation, seriously, it's amazing work, I feel like the lightfury is entirely capable of defending herself. Especially as she was shown in the first half of the movie to immediately shoot a plasma blast when she heard something as simple as a twig snapping. I feel like the way she just stood still was inaccurate in a way. Besides that, again, this is amazing.
Yeah, she could totally take care of herself, and if she felt like she couldn’t, she could at the very least get herself a way out. She’s an incredibly powerful dragon. In the video she seems like she was caught off guard at first, but she could’ve totally reacted afterwards, she had plenty of time. But maybe she knew toothless was coming! But like you said, this is amazing. Absolutely STUNNING. The movements, the expressions, the environment and even the cinematography just blows me away! It’s so beautiful.

Absolutely I agree. I love this animation but in terms of writing it’s a bit lame how she’s just standing there waiting to die if toothless didn’t step in
you’re all valid to voice your own opinions, but i also don’t think it’s this deep? i think it should just be focussed that this was an AMAZING animation. plus they constantly make videos of these two species with different personalities than in the film. i personally don’t think it’s a big whoop. /g
Honestly, you’re one of the BEST 3d animators out there. For one thing, the movement of your characters are quick and fast, much like movement irl, while many others have slow, smooth and sloshy animations.

I feel like in a situation like this, she wouldnt just stand and stare. That girl was INCREDIBLY defensive in the movie, she knows how to keep herself safe

I mean it doesn’t shock me that she stands still, when she got defensive in the movie she only heard a twig snap and the smell of humans, not a huge dragon running straight for her, anyone even animals would probably freeze in a situation like that. 😅

Whoa... those expressions, movements and lighting look so natural and smooth! Just a storyboarding tip: Maybe you could've made the light fury's reaction a bit more aggressive or scared because she's known to be cautious and skittish wild dragon. She'd be more experienced about being attacked in the nature than toothless because she lived in the wild longer than him. I have no issue with toothless coming in for the rescue but maybe you could show her fight or flight instincts instead of a "deer in front of a vehicle" look. Your talent in animating that suspicious look and head shake after it proves you can nail that 👏👏

I'm not sure I remember correctly, deathgrippers have a ranged attack right? like throw a poison quill, something like that..
that would deffinitely make it less annoying for her fans if she was paralised because of the poison rather than cuz the scenario demands that the knight saves the princess from the dragon..
