Cheers for going to the effort of filming and going into detail mate. Im pretty confident with engine work but am yet to pull my TC125 apart. Always little tricks and tips on new bikes.
Yes, considering the carnage I have seen with the 125’s grenading with stock cast pistons under 7 hrs, cranks coming apart on break in rides, thermostats sticking and blowing the engines up, intermittent electrical issues that plague the ignition timing, (there was a recall for it), whereby peppering the piston top with detonation, the diff fuels and octane and premix this engine has seen, the dyno runs, the sand at Southwick up to the axles, the mud, the torture tests, yes I’m amazed that this engine has lasted and looked like it did. You obviously don’t own one of these and have no clue what these are like to own and work on, but yet comment as if you do. 🧌
hi bud ! how are you nice vid here thanks! Can you show us how to rebuild the valve please? because since i have rebuild mine and reset it, FI blink 5 short times. The manual says that it's valve problem so it might be a mistake on the rebuild?
@@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMXwhat should be done from there? On my second rebuild I had my cousin disassemble the bike for me while I was at work.. he took the actuator off the head and now we’re getting the 5 long blink code and its not hitting power band
And they say 2 strokes are cheap. 275 hours of hard mx hours on my yz 450 after rebuild at 164 hours. Everything was in spec except cam chain little stretch.
Great news! Two strokes are cheaper however..less expensive to purchase outright, cheaper parts, etc..if the rod goes it locks up on a 2 stroke, it can still be pricey depending on what it takes out..if the rod goes or drops a valve on a 4 stroke, there is usually some large scale damage. My other 3 bikes I have are a 21' 250sxf, 23' 350sxf, and Rockstar FC450, so I am into both platforms. Glad you had good luck with your yzf, some have not.
4 strokes are obviously different, this is a test bike and has been subjected to testing and hard use..if you have a 23' + 125/250/300, you would know this was precautionary!
Kinda sad to see 2 strokes going this direction. I just picked up a runout 2022 TC250 because I wanted a simple 2 stroke that’s easy to work on like they’ve always been. These things seem just as complicated to work on as a 4 stroke
Wanted to make sure all was ok in there, also, due to all the carnage I have seen with cast pistons I decided to replace and do a video on a cast piston.

If you disconnect the battery and don’t remove the pv servo unless you have to, it’s pretty straight forward.
Part 2 soon!
Nice step by step. I play it on 2x because I've pretty familiar. Suggestion: tripod to make your life easier.
I know!!! Lol
If you pull the magneto cover off its way easier to turn the motor over.
This was done in the video
Do you really have to do this every ~10 hours? If I’m just a weekend warrior how many hours should I do on a piston before a rebuild?
7 hours and you're happy it looks good like it was a surprise? That should look perfect at 7 hours. Thanks for the vid though.

Yer thoughts on the TSP TBI Power Kit ( high compression head & ECU reflash ) ? 🤔
Who's TSP? 🤣
I don't have any info on their set up, I do know they make some great stuff.

thats the PV fault code
@@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX sorry i mean 5 long blink

Why do u do a topend at 7 hours did it malfunction i have one and was wondering
I remove the stocker cast pistons right away and do Wossner or VHM forged pistons at 15 hrs max to avoid excessive wear.
Petite question tu as remis un simple segment ou un double ?
I feel like if I try this my bike will never start again
That’s not true! You can do this with simple tools and patience!

How many hours should it be until I must replace the top end I’m at about 24 hours right now
Manual says 15 hrs, I would for sure do it soon to be sure and safe, use a Wossner 2 ringer forged part number 8174DA.
@@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX thank you so much doing a replacement soon
If I do a top end on a 23 ktm125 and leave that servo on do I need to have the power valve re synced ??
it should be ok, but take two min and reset it!

Your changing the piston in 7 hrs . That seems early . My fc 17 450 150 hrs I done top end and now it's got 230 hrs .

The are diff that’s for sure.
If you spend some time with them it’s not bad.
Any other tbi owners with scored piston? 9 hours 23 250xc is toast already. Cylinder damaged.
Yikes, there have been some, how bad is the damage? I have a new cyl in stock if you need one..email me if you do.

Why so low on the hrs? Didn’t even make it to 10hrs
