    how did the electrostatic force after taking ratio become w/2 tan ?

      W = 2T cos¤
      W/2 = T cos¤---------(1)
      Fe = T sin¤-----------(3)
      (3) / (2)
      Fe / W/2 = tan¤
      Fe = (W/2) tan¤
      Has doubt got cleared???

      Sorry for the delay in the reply.... That's because we had to find out the electrostatic force and that can be best solved... using equations 1 & 3.

      Equation 2 is in terms buoyant force... which would bring more terms to the solutions.... Hence more steps.
