Just found your channel and am really enjoying your reactions! This arc is fantastic, one of the series' bests. Btw the names of the shoguns (shigeshige and sadasada) are based off of real shoguns of the late edo period, Iemochi (where the character for mochi can also be read as shige) and Iesada

That’s actually just coincidence. Originally she was only supposed to be in YF but fans liked her so much Sorachi decided to bring her back, so we got an extended version of her story in Red Spider. Which personally I feel like if we never got RS maybe Asaemon would have made an earlier appearance and stuck with the group instead. Which would make more sense seeing as how Gin shared a past with her and she had to renew her life after losing a master the way she did. Anyways people, especially shippers, tend to think Sorachi made a parallel but that’s just a coincidence in appearance. I mean half of the Hyakka also have that wear. Sorachi actually based her design somewhat of Takasugi, seeing as how he altered a kimono to a mens yukata, and Tsukuyo is an altered yukata.
