In this short fun video I purchased some NEW RAM lazer Hybrid irons for £160.
The set is 4 - PW with a conventional shaped 56 degree sand wedge.
I tested these from all distances and around the greens to see which type of golfer they might help with some interesting results.
I also did a Live comparison with my current Mizuno 921 forged irons to see the difference. PRO V1balls were used throughout.

OMP-I am new to golf, maybe these clubs can help me.
OMP, probably not a bad set for beginners. A more comprehensive comparison of hybrid irons versus the Mizunos might be some Wilson launch pads or Cleveland hb turbos or the halos if they're out. Those are two of the most forgiving irons out there. But I get why some golfers wouldn't like the look of them.
I actually bought this set about 5 weeks ago having not played for 20 years. Started at the range a few times and then onto a par 3 course. I kid you not I hit 7 out of 9 greens from the tee. They really do help hit the ball straight. I played a couple of full courses with them and they may not go as far as normal iron but they really get the ball up in the air and give you confidence when you are a high handicapper like me. Really enjoying getting back into the game, which was spurred on by watching golf mates. Thanks, Liam & the boys, I've rediscovered a great hobby again.
I actually bought these just because I tend to strike hybrids better. Agree with you on looks and feel... They actually feel poor but I have found them to be quite playable. I'm one of those guys that is pretty convinced that if your swing is decent you can play just about anything. Great review as always
They look a lot like budget Wilson Launch Pads which I've been using as my first set for the last 2-3 months (4-SW). Love them even though they look pretty awful. Very forgiving if I hit the ball fat, otherwise great loft and distance. Perfect for the average beginner who plays once a week :) Love the channel!

“OMP”. These remind me of the Spaulding Executives that were big in the mid to late 80’s. Would be good for a beginner.

Liked the comparison between your Mizuno clubs showed the distance gained/lost between the 2.
Also a couple of suggestions from the Game With No Name. Snakes and Ladders as in the Kids board game. A leg up with the Ladder and going back with a Snake.. 2nd one, Pole Position.

OMP! Agree in general with your thoughts on RAM hybrid irons but feel they might help a genuine beginner/novice get some joy from striking a golf ball from anywhere on the links and get decent shot elevation/flight. At 160 for the set, they are cheaper than a single wedge from Titleist today. How can you lose?
You are spot on..it’s an expensive Hobby. They get a starting golfer off the ground….they just need the £50 a round after that lol

A good friend of mine (20+ HC) bought a similar set of Cobras this season. Definitely help with the ball striking, flight has a lower trajectory and added yardage but found it more difficult to stick shots 150+ on greens. Good investment for newer golfers looking for consistency. Family of golfers here in CT, USA., teaching the daughters beau has been a challenge, going to look into Rams or similar hybrid clubs for sure. Thanks Golf Mates, OMP is the 5’er slayer. Cheers
I've just bought the Ram fx77 irons set which turned up Tuesday. They're fantastic looking clubs and can't wait to try them on the course this Monday.
Hi Liam, I use a 2,3 & 4 hybrid for their forgiving traits. I agree that you have a lot less feel than a conventional club but I feel confident in my control over direction and distance, for longer shots. To attack a green, (5 iron on) I prefer using conventual irons for the feel & spin I can get from them. In the end, I use the clubs I feel confidence in using. I am an 18 handicapper though, so I could just be full of 'you know what'.
OMP Hey Liam, check the shafts out. Your Mizunos may be stiff while the Rams have standard shafts. Looking forward to seeing ALL the courses in Britannia. Hit the road...
I would love them. I've just started playing again because of you and the Golf Mates channel. I have an old set of Calaway Big Berthas and I'm finding I thin them a lot on the only course in Isreal. The fairways are rock hard. Love the channel and all the golf mates on it.

OMP. They remind me of slazenger‘s Big Ezzy hybrid’s from a few years back. Ideal for someone who is just starting to play golf , very forgiving and easy to hit.
Hey Liam those RAM hybrids similar to a set of Cleveland HB3 ‘s I used in the past , great ball flight and distance for high handicappers , not much feel in the low irons / wedges , no check around the greens , You look sharp in black my friend 😁

They style are great for beginners and also when we start getting on. Doing the half swing with the weight and size behind makes the game fun still.
And as for the 4i going left, well, got to think 4h.....
Had a set of Spalding Cannon Advance, in 1989 similar 2 to 6, gave up golf for 10 years, until I got a set of Callaway Edge 2 yrs ago. Love playing golf again!

For quite some time Cleveland, Cobra and Wilson all have quality versions of these type of hybrid. Designed for forgiveness. I have the Cleveland. Very happy. You don’t need to be an an OMP to play these. Very suited to mid to high handicap golfer. Aesthetics has little material relevance to the result!
My first set of clubs were Ram 'Tom Watson' 3-SW, driver & 3 wood ( both wood not metal or titanium). They helped me get good pretty quick.

Nothing feels like a Mizuno mate! After getting my 921 Forged this year I can honestly say I wouldn't change brand again for my irons! Those might be good for my lad though who is just starting off.
Liam- you strike your traditional irons so well. Ideally these RAM hybrid irons should be tried by someone who already has 2-3 hybrids in their bag and struggles with their irons. I have a 4 & 6 hybrid in my bag and I hit them well. I might add an 8 hybrid or I just may buy a set of these instead because the whole set is less expensive than one SIM II hybrid. Thanks much for showing all of us these clubs.
This is where I was. Had hybrids up to 25 degrees. Was crap at irons so just ordered an 8 and pw hybrid and I'm hoping these will complete my set. Just my look that after ordering these online for £90 a club I see a second hand 6 hybrid for £20 in the local club shop.

These look great I would love to try them. I hut the Cleveland Hibore Xli hybrids now. These are much newer than what I hit.
Playing Cleveland Launcher HB Iron myself. They are designed almost like the RAMs. Once You get used to them they are fantastic. OMP.
OMP ... Hi Liam, actually look like an old set style from many years ago. To be honest I've been considering trying hybrids, following recent operation been struggling with my game, they may just help with it seems more forgiveness being a little fatter soke and more weight to the club ... just could be the answer.

OMP, these look like they could help me out. Started playing August last year and struggling with the irons. Could be an idea to try something like these, if you get up to Fraserburgh ( the broch ) again any chance you can pop in past Peterhead ( the bloo toon ) for a round 👍👍

"OMP" Had a set similar to these clubs many years ago called "Hippo", and for me, they made golf easier ... as the years went on, I went to all hybrid clubs... but have always regretted getting rid of that set! Would LOVE to give these Ram hybrid irons a try!

My first set of clubs were some adams ibrids which were very similar to those. They are a lot easier to hit than traditional irons and i actually loved hitting them but after i learned i got some traditional clubs.

"OMP" could probably play with these....he has the magic touch when it comes to playing golf! As for these RAM irons....I have NIKE slingshot irons, and when I first got them...I thought they looked too chunky. But...once I took them to the practice range a few times, I fell in love with them! I learned how to control them where I could hit a nice soft fade, a straight shot or a little draw! I got to where I didn't fear holes set on the left side of the green...which had always been difficult for me, since I prefer hitting a soft fade!
Tom Kite used to be the RAM Golf Ambassador back in the day...and their pro line blades were as pricey as Wilson Staff irons many years ago!

Liam i have a set of these irons but I'm left handed. Ram is not the only manufacturer who make these sort of irons there are about 3 or 4 cleveland launcher is one they are meant to be more forgiving irons for higher handicappers I love them. Remember a club called big eeze then f.a.s.t. irons they were exactly the same

Hi Liam, for 160,- you can for sure play around but OMP would not need them I guess. But for a starter in golf like my farther in law they would work.

Having played golf for 30 years, I am skeptical of all the new club designs etc, but the "OMP" look perfect for someone like me who wants to enjoy a good round, without all the competitive nonsense
OMP. Have a battered set of Adams hybrids, as newish to the game they have been great for moving the ball forward.
OMP - like the review videos you just say it as it is with no nonsense jargon , keep it up
OMP- very similar to Cleveland altitude- but don’t see to gave the same quality
But I agree they look great Value for money - particularly for someone starting golf

I use Callaway hybrids down to an 8 iron and they work perfectly for me

OMP. I played with a full hybrid set this week and really could easily hit them better than my irons. If you get a chance try the budget Pine endow Excel hybrids for sale on Amazon. While I am a little late responding to your decision not to go full time as a caddy, spending time with your family is far more important than any career.

OMP! Honestly think these would help high handicappers, but down the line as you get better, you would probably opt for nicer looking cavity back irons. For the price, very decent though for beginner to get to know the game

That's funny I have a set that looks just like these except they're made under the Powerbilt brand name. Same design just different colors (and mine have graphite shafts). Probably manufactured in the same Chinese factory and sold under different brand names. I hit them solid and pretty straight but they are shorter than my Callaway irons.
