But as for me, if my parents want me to disobey I will not disobey God just to please them, at the end of the day my number one obedience goes to God not to anybody, be it parents or pastor or whoever. Honoring your father and your mother has absolutely nothing to do with disobeying God. Alot of people have missed their God ordained spouse due to the misleading of pastors and parents.
But where is written that your parents has no say in your marital issues. Never forget that all the sussusful marriages in the Bible were with parental consent and plans. What the Bible said is that we must not be unequally yoked meaning we must marry a non believer, he gives us chance to choices and let's stop God told me I must marry this person. That is a wrong doctrine which has held many people down trying to hear God's voice. God himself tells us to honour father and mother with a blessing added to eat.
