I don't know why, but i connect with the music of the Cree people more than the others. I wish i knew what they were saying, but i still have a strong reaction to this music, especially if I dance to the beat. Really something special here, I wish i fully understood.
@yotinpimohktiw7766 Thank you very much! I will put that to good use. I have been listening to this, as well as the young spirit album. I worked in the rap, metal, and country industry, have loved music my entire life, but this music is special. I don't understand it yet, but I feel this music.
@@survivaldoggy I’m traditional and I don’t know all the songs of the Cree. But the stuff you hear at pow wows is just our candy music lol. The feeling I think you feel is the heartbeat of the earth. The real connection that we have to the spirit world. It’s all in our music. Our real sacred songs cannot be sung in public or for no reason. They all have a meaning to them. A deep profound meaning that reaches the soul. Meanwhile every word you hear is about thanking god and the earth for allowing us to be here and celebrate our blessings we are given by kici manitou. Nimihtowin means to dance. You hear that word a lot. We dance for the creator, the earth, all our relatives, and everyone also. Nakamohk means to sing. Mistakwaskihk means drum. Tapwiy means that’s right. Lol Tapwiy miyasin that’s right it’s good. Nimihtowin kakiyaw, means everyone dance. Kakiyaw means everyone. Oskayak is young people. Asino (eye-see-no) means native people, or the people. There is some words and their meaning to get you started brother

There is an app that will teach you Nihiyaw. It’s not called Cree. We are Nihiyaw. That means people from the four directions.
