i used to bring that multiplayer map pack to halo partys and people would be blown away because they didnt even know it existed. you had to buy the MAP PACKS for 4.00 each back then , so the people that didnt have xbox live used that disc to get that dlc.
You might want to crack that console open, odds are that console has the faulty clock capacitor that will destroy your console. My Xbox did have that cap leak, so I took it out. It's not critical for the console to work, so I would recommend removing it if it hasn't already been taken out
Was going to say the same thing. Would be interesting to see if that newer cap has leaked just like in the older consoles from 2001-2002 (if it's a fault in some overall design or just crappy cap in the original console version).

I really wish I still had this console of every thing from my childhood that I don't have anymore (Yu-Gi-Oh cards Pokemon cards etc) , this Xbox is the one I regret getting rid of the most.
Nice score. I modded and recapped a few (even managed to score a 1ghz CPU Trusty modded one) then used custom bios and a special setup 3tb drive from a UA-camr named Masnart. His drives are preconfigured to work with custom bios’s and have coinops ninja massive and almost every retro console and handheld up to the GBA. Plus it has the majority of the OG Xbox library. I also bought and a Xarcade tank stick with trackball to play all the great arcade games from the 80s on up to the early 2000s. Trackball is a decent replacement option for the lightgun games. I did hold onto on old 36” CRT for lightgun games but the emulated arcade gun games won’t work with the Xbox lightguns sadly. Lastly I have one stock Xbox setup to play Steel Battalion with the huge controller for my kids (the SB controller doesn’t play nice with custom bios). I use an Mclassic paired with an HDMI converter I got recommended from retroRGB and it looks great on modern TVs. There’s also a nice adapter that hobbyists made to let you use 360 controllers and wired Xbox 1 controllers with an option to use a bios that lets the 360 chatpad work as a SB controller though I had to specify that option as it removes Xbox 1 controller functionality if you go that route.
That halo console comes with a black controller that says halo instead of Xbox. They cheap you off bro 😔 that green controller is nice but the black halo controller adds more value to the console

So uh, yeah, if you don't want to deal with finding a replacement xbox or deal with the cleanup it's good practice to just go ahead and do it. Just common sense really.
1:51 You don't need a new knife, just a new blade. Open it up and you can flip the blade to another sharp side. Also, sometimes inside there is a spare blade piece. You should be able to find these blades in any hardware store.
For all you "smart" people commenting about the clock cap -check the version of the console, before assuming anything. -it is a well known fact in the community that only OG Xbox version 1.0 --> 1.5 is prone to having this problem. So, if it's a 1.6 there is no need for breaking the stickers on the bottom of the console and ruining the value of the collectible.

FYI, that is not the halo controller that comes with the halo Xbox as I had an halo xbox back in the day when they came out. I sold mines right before the 360 came out to help pay for the 360. The halo controller actually says halo on it. That one is a normal clear green controller.
What did you use as the video adapter to get it to display on that monitor and to what resolution. I have mine set with a component to HDMI to a 55' 4k samsung and it looks so blurry.
Perhaps invest in a tripod when playing for a bit. Makes the video less shaky. Or if you can, multiple camera setup with multiple angles you can switch to. But the latter is a costly thing, so a tripod would be a minimum
not sure if you are aware but the first gen Xbox was notorious for having bad caps for the clock capacitor, so if you have to set the date and time every time you unplug the console, that means that cap is blown. It would be wise to disassemble the console and de-solder that cap before it's contents fully leak onto the board and damage it.
And the only reason people keep getting rid of this model of original Xbox is because you can’t soft mod this model and worse you can’t install a mod chip on this model so a lot of people basically gut these cases And place older Xbox original hardware in them and then strap mod chips to them
You could download the Halo 2 DLC via Xbox Live, there was even a map pack that could only be downloaded. They printed discs because A. Some people's connections in the early 2000's would've made downloading take forever and B. Purchasing downloaded content was a very foreign concept at the time (and I'm sure it didn't hurt that selling the disc allowed them to get money from people who don't have access to Xbox Live, aswell)
Just to let you know, when I was 6 I had one of these console but it only lasted 7 years because my parents forgot to remove the “clock capacitor” so if you have the time you might want to remove that because it will leak on the motherboard and if not treated the acid will damage and melt the layers of the motherboard so please take it out. 😇

I have 22 game console's and I always have my Original Xbox set up along with all the newer ones. Thanks for the video, good job. P.S. I wish my OG Xbox disc tray opened up like that...lol

Way late, but that’s not the right controller. That’s just the regular translucent green one you could buy off the shelf. The one that came with it has a Halo jewel.
I had many of these stupidly sold them back in day only 1 bad thing is 2 watch dvds you must use remote and the xbox remote and adapter without it it will not play dvds no idea why you can't use the xbox controller 2 watch dvds but it has jukebox so download your cds on 2 your system and it stores them while you play games you cldnt do that on Ps2 I no its old tech but was cool at the time

Also, when they’re on the dashboard, it outputs 480i which most older TVs are not capable of outputting. In order to fix this, stay on the dashboard, go on the controller and press the trigger buttons and the analog sticks at the same time. The screen will black out for 2 seconds. That’s what’s supposed to happen. You’ll get 480p which is a resolution most TVs will handle.

All original xboxes are 8gb, you can hard/soft mod them to be able to swap in a larger hard drive though.

You lucky the disk tray works, most trays in original xbox and xbox 360 are notorious for not working due to eject mechanism rubber belt wearing out.

Unfortunately @Jacob R, this are not the correct controllers for the HALO LE/SE OGX. Those actually had a black Halo jewel/badge on them.
