I think the Droid bases seen in the Clone wars are more like forward operating bases or temporary outposts until the separatists make actual bases like the ones seen in season 7 of Clone wars
As team Droids I've recently begun collecting my CIS army (with only a minimalistic clone collection to merely serve as opposition to my Droids) and plan to do Droid based diorama's.
Honestly for me the reason why you don't see alot of droid bases is 1 they'd rather set up camps in civilian zones and use them as shields so most of the bases are just living quarters areas. And 2 is the droids were much stronger in swarm tactics so attacking bases was much easier than defending them as well as their best strength was their space fleets. The majority of their "fortresses" was the blockades they put around planets. They would prevent you from getting to the planet and then if you can get established just constantly bombard you and civilians. No need for traditional bases.
this doesn't make sense. droid swarm tactics would be great in defense, which is cannically their orginal purpose. they fold up really well so you can store a larger garrison in the same sized base. a much much much larger garrison. and they can't be pinned down or tramatised in the same way as organic defenders making defenses more resiliant. and due to making bases being relatively simple but manpower intensive a droid swarm will build them bigger and more extensive than an organic army. we do so alot of actual fortresses. they are especially common on separatist loyal worlds (like 2nd geonosis). its just the clone wars was biased in showing which worlds are fought on and mostly showed separatist offensives on republic loyal worlds and very few episodes on republic invasions. and even then we see droid fortresses outside of civilian areas on for example ryloth. there technically is a droid base in the pantora arc.
@@matthiuskoenig3378 except why house a Garrison when you can just make it a factory? Separatist generals played off the Jedi's weakness and again would be more likely to set up in civilian zones rather than just a one off fortress in a random spot. Now saying swarming helps defend a fortress I would completely disagree with. If your strength is in swarming then it would be better to be fighting on an open battlefield across the large area rather than confining yourself to a singular point. That's why the droids were usually on the offensive and sent out in the battlefield before republic forces could get to any "fortresses." I'm not saying that they never had fortresses but the usefulness of them doesn't play to the strength of the droid army. The majority of their "fortresses" was in their fleets and blockade that they put around planets. The droids had a massive advantage in aerial combat thus making it difficult for the republic forces to get to locations thus why they would be more apt to send forces off into the open battlefield rather than defending a singular point picking off landing cruise that had already been thinned out. No need to defend anything if you have no one attacking.
just in case somebody was wondering the CIS built the droid bases floors with disco patterns because it streamlined production and allowed for the easy organization of the iconic droid battle lines :)
video idea : build a droid base and a clone base in the same moc and have them fighting each other on could be built into a mountain or something and the other is just a quick set up with mobile things
Exactly. Another example. Near the end of the Clone Wars season one on the battle of Ryloth you think the droids have a base, but they are cheaping out. And using the prebuilt capitol city.
The few droid facilities that really exist are the Droid factories and the Citadel (as seen in the Clone Wars) and maybe a few others I can't think of off the top of my head Other than that, the CIS doesn't really have bases, they just capture Republic planets, or other non-aligned planets, and then just use what's already there
Slap a tacti-cool droid down, couple soups, a glimpse of HKs, a gaggle of droideka and a light slathering of commandos and you got yourself the most diverse and deadly army in the galaxy!
I love the idea of a droid base more than a Clone Base. I like Clones to be on the offensive. And being on the defensive really helps making the droids more formidable. Also, a droid army should be able to erect military installations much faster than a clone army. And not just because there are more droids than clones.
Frontline bases being a glorified landing pad is really inline with how the CIS approach droids being expendable, especially when their main bases usually are fortresses. That being said this looks a lot better than what we've seen officially, at least as far as I'm aware :)
Very cool, but are those droid storage tubes coming out of thin, flat walls? Are the walls roomier on the inside like a tardis? Reckon you might try one of the big droid drop ships at some point?
This is so cool glad to see the droids getting some love. I enjoy the clones alot but cool to see something different. Only thing I would change is the trans-blue rounds to trans-red rounds!
For those who need inspiration Star Wars republic commando has a droid base built specifically to act as an Anti aircraft gun and it looks SICK externally
I think there's an even simpler reason why no one does it: droids don't need Barracks, or Med centers, or large defense facilities. they don't eat, sleep or need medical attention. a wall is perfectly suitable to secure an area for a landing pad, and the Trade Federation landing craft can easily carry the Blaster power packs and recharging stations. what you'd need for a proper CIS base is actual Organic separatist troops, and outside of Umbara those are kinda thin on the ground.
You might be able to use 1x2 hinge plates to attach the roof? Either 60478 with the handle on one end, or the one with ridges? I forget the number. Looks awesome as always!
love the driod base (for a droid logo you could have used the old tri fighter stickers) unfortunate we dont get more. still think an outpost on dathomir would be cool
Great work, would love to see more. On a side note, I would love it if you could build something from Kotor (Knights of the Old Republic.) Not many people do this and it would be soooooo cool!
thinking about droid bases has me think about the onderon arc in the clone wars. An interesting Droid base idea could be a repurposed "castle"/local government building the sepis took control of.
Surely the citadel is a more abstract droid base idea that's not just a box i understand its not a vehicle base its a prison but its a droid installation.
This looks awesome, I have to ask though did you consider looking into the expanded media of Star wars for more base ideas then just the Clone wars?, Galactic Battlegrounds has a lot of buildings from both the Trade Federation and the CIS you could have taken inspiration from
i don't know if that is just a me issue but it always annoys me when parts are not held down. like the roof i feel like could have been donewith an arm piece to connect and hold the 4 walls together
there is the fact that star wars pretty often cuts corners when it comes to its portrayal of droids. I mean, its well established that droids are sentient beings enslaved to fight for a purpose they don't understand, and yet star wars often regulates them to fodder that we are supposed to celebrate the destruction of. Which personally really bothers me, given that the writers often know better, given how they understand the tragedy of the clones.
@@matthiuskoenig3378 its well established that they have feelings and personalities, individuals thoughts, and everything. Infact, its pretty clear that droids are not much different from other living beings.

Yeah, some of the comics did a better job with the droid bases

A rare Fellow Seperatist Fan? Is this possible??
@@Brick_Lover_I6 Lies you have a Republic Dog avatar.
@@DutchThriceman fair point, i just enjoy both sides
@@Brick_Lover_I6 Fair, clones are pretty cool.. droids are cooler.
@DutchThriceman i disagree clankers look skinny
Coconut tries not to build naboo moc (level impossible)
I mean droids don't eat, sleep, exercise, hang out, or any of that, so of course their bases will be a bit barren.
I was just about to type this.
Although, there could be storage, charging points, shelter, armoury, garage. Quarters for biological auxiliaries.
id suggest that shud make them more inhuman, compact & efficient (think borg cube), rather than just.. empty

good job coconut man!!!
This base looks amazing now what about an aquatic one or a moon outpost rather than a “ pacification “ base
I like how you stepped up your detail on the base
Very cool, but are those droid storage tubes coming out of thin, flat walls? Are the walls roomier on the inside like a tardis? Reckon you might try one of the big droid drop ships at some point?
Haha it's not a realistic design, I went with aesthetic over function.

“There are very little droid bases”
The citadel: why have I been forgotten-
There are CIS logo plates. It’s a sticker and in the ATT set with Asoka and the 332nd clone trooper.

Finally a droid base
The studs on the outside side walls of the base, to me kinda look like some letters. You could have made them spell something.
