It makes you wonder why that trimmer isn't broken out as a matter of course. It's a great mod. You sound very happy about it, and rightfully so!
There are some fuzz pedals on the market that include bias on the front panel, but not very many. I’m not sure why.
That's a pretty cool mod and anything that makes a pedal more useful is a plus. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking it out. I was blown away by how different it sounds. I don’t know that the camera captured all the nuances but it is really different.
Far freaking out
This is the sort of thing that brought me here in the first place
If it's germanium, you could adjust the bias the original way which was to keep the pedal in the fridge until you're ready to use it. Also, an EQ control right before the output would turn this into a zvex woolly mammoth.
I'm not sure if I heard correctly, but the over biased sound seemed to have a longer sustain? (I kinda heard some Neil Young ish tones with it?) And the under biased was weirdly interesting.
Anyway, always fun to watch your videos, cheers!
You heard correctly. the overbiased sound seems to be bassier, louder, and a bit more sustained. While under biased is gated and more unpredictable. Thanks for the comment.
Another cool video. I wonder what it would sound like if you used a volume type pedal to sweep through the bias while playing. That might make it even cooler, maybe not.
That would be interesting to have an expression jack in place of the pot. Cool idea.
Alternate similar idea: if you have two or more favorite bias sweet spots, you can put those resistance values on a toggle switch. A bit less fiddly to get dialed in live.
Yeah. That’s a possibility as well. Great suggestion.
