This is the the type of of tutorial I’ve needed for a year now. When you spend a lot of time away from technical instrument simple things are forgotten This tuition can but you straight back in instead of the headache of referring back to the manual all the time THANKS ED!!!!
@@marctronixx It's a Fantom 6. It occationally froze at startup. Even the on/off button did not respond. So I had to pull the mains plug before I restarted it. This only happened a very few times, but it still worried me. Roland suggested replacement of the main board. Let's hope this will solve the issue.
Hi Good ecplanation I imported 2 samples @N1 and N° 16 in bank 1 They show the new names but when I push the buttoms nothing happens . . Silence and the light doesn t stay on either The other pad_buttems are working but not my new ones Ofc I forgot one step but which one Please help
I bought this keyboard two weeks ago. I think 2 Gb is not enough space for sampling loops. is there have any other way to extend it. one another i think if drum pads place on left side instead of right to keyboard that should be very convenient to play loop and keyboard at same time like as AKAI. please suggest.
Hey all, this is awesome with the pad feature. I am wondering is there a pad hold option? Like if you want a backing track on a pad and you want to play along with it and the same time without having to manually hold the pad.
Unfortunately, Ed had a big miss on this in the video. Turn the Gate Off when you're in Wave Edit. This isn't a noise gate, but rather whether the pad operates as a gate on the sample. Now the entire sample will play when you hit the pad. I think the big gotcha is that hitting the button again doesn't stop the sample, but restarts it. This seems like a big issue. Fortunately for me, I use the pad for quick samples so it's not a big deal, but I don't understand how Roland didn't catch this or at least have a setting for the pads Start/Stop, Hold, Single Play...something like that...if they expect them to play very long samples. As it is now, there's no way I would use a multi-minute sample on them.
thanks for all the good explanation about the Fantom I am a beginner with this beautiful machine, I can use it very well 👍👍👍👍👍 Keep up the good work thnx again.
Hi Ed, thanks a lot for this huge, wonderful ressource playlist ! Will you talk about where to find factory pad samples once replaced by personal ones (I wonder where they're stored) ?
Excellent tutorials. I have the Fantom 07 and I just bought the Fantom 7. Can you explain how I transfer everything I have on the 07 to the 7 please? Thank you so much.
senor Diaz !!!!!!!! this was really good! your tutorials are so easy to follow. thank you. one off topic question -- is that an EV 320? did you retire the sm7b?
Hello! When I try to import sample or input it from the keyboard to a sampler pad - I record it but cannot hear the sound when trying to play it later. I press „preview“ button and I see that the respective square on the pad is flashing but there is no sound. The same happens if I directly hit the square on a sample pad. It’s flashing but there is no sound. Where I enter „pad“ mode I could see that the one I want to listen is not empty, there is a sample I recorded or imported, I can even open to edit it but when I try to preview - no sound!
I'm learning to use my new Fantom-08. All my sample banks are full of factory samples. If I clear them out, what's the best way to get them back if I ever want them later?
Hello, I own a Fantom 8, but I don't know how to change the sample rate on it? I have it connected to my daw, but I can't put it to 48hz. It's stuck at 44 hz.
Not mentioned, you have to import the sample at the BPM you are going to have your track. No pitch or tempo follow for the sample if you change tempo. You have to edit samples again in DAW then import again to the Fantom. Might not sound like much but the Titantic turns quicker than the Fantom processes samples so it is super inconvenient. The sampler needs some love with some SP-404 mk2 features.
@@manrajhusan you can’t change the tempo of a sample you record into the Fantom. You have to record it at the tempo you have your scene. There is no warping or time stretch on the Fantom range. They haven’t updated the Fantom for months now. The Juno X gets all the love and goodies in features and updates. You’d think that was the flagship.
Hi Ed I have a question Is it possible to syncronize the scenes with the samples? I mean with the tempo metronome syncro I would like to launch the sequencer and the scenes in the same time
Great video! Thanks Is it possible to record a guitar on the pads, listening to the drums on the fantom, and then listen to the drums and guitar simultaneously? Like a sequencer
Hell Ed. Cool demo. Im curious if the new Fantom 0 has the same exact sampler or if there is some kind of difference between them. Also you referenced the 404 a couple of times. I'm very curious about any similarities in their sampling functionality since both are from Roland.

Great question! Actually yes you can if you use the Multisampling feature. I’m planning on demonstrating that in an upcoming video. I’ll use market available drum kit samples for my examples.
what do you mean by 'perfect backing track'? when you have to perform 30+ songs in a gig, and you load the scenes one by one that contain the song, how do you remember which song's backing track in which sample pad under which bank (if triggered manually by hand)? If the pads are triggered by the sequencer patterns, you still need to load the right samples in the right pads. I know loading and saving large sample pad files along with the scene could take time which is impractical during a live gig, but at least scenes with patterns/song could have remembered the pad numbers used for sequencer/manual triggered audio files for reference? what's Roland's solution for these absurd amount of tasks? This is total opposite of the otherwise outstanding organization of the Fantom workflow. The number of updates Roland did on the sample pad section since FA series proves that this section has been neglected being an elephant in the room and it is still far from perfect. I suggest a button on the scene set that loads all associated used sample pad files for all the songs to be played before the gig from the USB drive/internal storage where you keep all your samples. It will cut the loading time during performance. Songs can also display the numbers of the related pad samples that need to be triggered manually.

I miss my Fantom, it has been away on warranty repair for 5-6 weeks now 😥 But your videos are great, Ed, you are a great ambassador for Roland 👍
Thank you!!!

Men, thank you for all this. Can't find words for how much I love this Fantom, hoping to receive mine brand-new in about two weeks
Good work as ever Ed! If I wanted to sample a sound from another keyboard, a JDXI, how would I record that sample in order to load into the Fantom?

Is it possible to put the sampler pad(audio) in the sequencer pattern? Thanks
Hi! Can we adjust the tempo of these samples while playing?
When you import samples say Wav or MP3, can it detect the BPM of the sample or do you have to set that?
Thank You Ed!!! big help!!!!!

So if you are loading a backing track of a song and load it in the pad,if the backing track is a 3min song, you have to press that pad for 3 mins?

Does this work with the Fantom 0 series to?
is there for xps30

Will this also be possible on the new Fantom 0 series?
Can you sample to the keyboard?
How to import SVD file?
