i know I have to heal from my past but how when the evidence continues to manifest in the current relationship? I have made changes and even he recognizes but those same demons continue to taunt.

Have you renounced the previous marriage? Sex creates a soul tie and if not properly severed, then whatever issues you dealt with in your previous marriage still have a right to be present in this current one.
