I know this is eight months old, but with the modding scene, I really think Minecraft will take it's place with the original Doom as one of those games that *always* has a community that still plays it, even if it's relatively small, regardless of whether Mojang keeps updating it or not.

Same goes for the loud minority of "toxic" people. Do you just asume dream's community consists of only small childs who dont know how to write a sentence but still manage to put in 12 different swear words?
Just take this video for example. With roughly 1000 comments and 225k views barely 0.5% of people even wrote a comment. It just so happens that some people like to comment more often then others. So what you see in the end is heavily distorted. Btw this just scales up for even larger videos. Dreams last Manhunt is at about 0.4% of total viewers commenting. Every "toxic dream fan" you see online is overshadowed by more then 200 users who dont engage in the comment section.

I think I needed the break though because when I came back there was so much to explore. It has been about two years since I quit Fortnite and I am still not showing any signs of stopping. I recently bought my own PC and now I am hooked on Java edition and it is awesome. I know for a fact that one day I will have to take another break and there will be a dead period but I believe that it will come back again and that this will happen forever. I'm 23 years old now and I grew up playing video games and loving my time with them; however, minecraft is one of those games that never really pulled me in. I have fond memories of occasionally hopping on to play with friends, but those periods were brief and sparse. I could never figure out why I couldn't get into it as much as other games even though it has all of the things I like in a video game like freedom, exploration, crafting, and creativity to name a few. I sank countless enjoyable hours into somewhat similar games like Subnautica and Garry's mod and could spend the entire day playing until fatigue is the only thing that pulls me away for the day but with minecraft I never had that experience. I almost feel as though something's wrong with me and envy those that are so fond of the game and hold so many good memories of it and wish I had whatever you need to have such a fun time with what seems like an endless experience. I have it on both xbox and pc and this video inspired me to give it another shot and really be patient with myself and the game this time. I think maybe I go into it as well as other games and maybe we all make this mistake with new experiences, expecting it to be like previous experiences and not allowing it to be great for what it objectively is unbiased by our expectations and past experiences.

I want this thing to be studied by aliens 14,000 years in the future. I want to be buried in this game. I want to die by being blown up by a creeper.

Now it’s time to venture off into the real world but this game will still always be in my game library. I built my first rig about 2 years ago but it just doesn’t feel the same. Don’t get me wrong I still have fun with the game on Java especially because I’ve always wanted to play that version bc my favorite UA-camrs played it but nothing will ever beat the summer vacation early mornings and late nights on mc without a care in the world. I'm probably going to play Minecraft for more than half my lifespan, and that's kind of scary. There's a good fucking chance I'll boot up the game for the first time in 10 years when my hypothetical children ask me if I've heard of minecraft. Hell, there probably won't even be a 10 year gap. I've been going 12 years strong, I can keep going. I honestly just want to see how far I can take it.
Imagine asking your dad or grand dad about some game you and your friends just found and it turns out he's been playing for 40 to 60+ years already. It's probably like finding out your grandpa was an avid skateboarder in the 1950's.

Honestly, I do consider minecraft's downfall for it to be its own fault. It was partly the community's fault, but it is MAINLY about the updates and Microsofts decisions. When the update aquatic came out, more people started playing it. In my opinion, without that decision to make better updates I think it would have stayed dead.
I love Minecraft, and I really hope it never goes there again.

I think when it comes to Minecraft's popularity I have to say for me at least it was not about Minecraft becoming popular it was more about having fun in game that you can git loss in for hours or maybe years.
To simplify its more about the experience you create well playing the game. That's what it was always like for me for years. Minecraft blowing up for the first time just increased my enjoyment for the game but even after other games took it's spot I stilled played the game when everybody thought it was a "dead game".
But still this is my own opinion maybe other people have different views about popularity on UA-cam with Minecraft.

I first started playing minecraft in 2013 on the ps3 and stopped playing during 2017 when I was mid way through high school. But I eventually came back to it in 2020 and I’ve been playing it since. I then took a break about halfway through last year and picked up the controller again this week. Minecraft is just that game that you never delete and it’s always there. You will always decide randomly to play it and get hooked for months.

3:30 the extreme dip there ... that was a ... sadly successful ddos-attack landing perfectly on hypixel, leading a lot of those people over to wynncraft.. who were also hit by the attack..
the difference: wynncraft was able to recover from it faster... I don't know specific reasons. To show how many people were now on Wynncraft for about one week
one world in wynncraft can hold 40 people
and on an average day, the highest world you'll find is 30-40 or so
during that week... the worlds were constantly above 100
There were SO many people from hypixel in wynncraft that wynncraft players started mocking and talking shit about 'all the hypixel kiddies that should just stay away from wynncraft' or something like that
also.. loot chests start empty on a new server. they fill up over time and get better contents the longer they're closed. if someone opens one, they get what's inside.. abd then the chest restarts its cycle from the beginning
also, normally a world restarted after being up for about 7-8 hours
during that week, there were servers that were up for 50-52 hours
and there was not a single lootchest that contained more than 2-5 emeralds.. throw in the occasional unidentified unique item.. the lowest quality of loot
    it was awful...
    Feels like a war flashback...
the first hit of the ddos-attack was immediately visible
someone sent a message that everyone on the server could see:
"Don't move any important items in your inventory right now, the servers are under attack which will probably delete those items because of the lag"
at first i thought it was a joke
it didn't affect me too much since my wifi connection was almost always as laggy as on that day
but then I saw a level 101 player running from level 20 zombies... and they asked me, a level 40 mage, for help
i helped them and learned that they lost their entire armor set because they wanted to make sure it wouldn't be deleted... but exactly that deleted the armor
Detlas, a city in wynn where people from all levels normally gathered.. mostly lvl 10-40 players though.. since lvl 100 players and such had access to better areas .... this small city was now overrun by lvl 100 players who were trying to recover from the server attack
I was lucky that I wasn't hit as hard.. the only thing I lost was a level 20 rare helmet... not too much.. compared to several pieces of legendary or even mythic armor or weapons...
I still feel bad for those people
