Scapeshift is just one of those quintessential Magic cards to me, something that seems like it's just spinning wheels and doing nothing on the surface, but opens up so many possibilities.
maybe note, that in Standard. with the 3mana Tefari, you could cast scapeshift as in instance so when you start you turn you have like 20+ 2/2 zombies.
Are we voting for splinter twin this time guys??? 😭😭 Edit: unbelievable, it's not on the poll any more. It finally lost hard enough to get the boot. RIP splinter twin
Nope, it will return after october and Halloween and -maybe- win someday. I feel like it should be a special deck history video because it is so meme :p
Small note on the field of the dead: the lands you get don't have to have different names. You both have to A: Have 7 lands of different names, and B: just have lands enter play. If you fetched 10 lands, 4 copies of field of the dead and 6 other lands, you get a total of 40 zombies, as you meet both conditions.
I just noticed that in cEDH, Clutch is Super Secret Tech vs greedy Ad Naus decks, since you can just ding them for 3 with it and kill them at instant speed. I run it as a transmute, and already like Rule of Law, but that is oddly enough not irrelevant. The bounce effect is super-expensive, but if you run it as a bad tutor, it's just an upside in weird corner cases when you either need 3 damage or a bounce. Very... clutch, if you will. Scapeshift is a really big effect, and can do so many different good things. I'm shocked more people didn't do something with Dark Depths. Obvious and easy to derail, but a 20 power indestructible flyer can do things. I knew Scapeshift was good, but didn't know how much play it had seen.
Pointing out how obnoxious FieldShift in Standard was: since that deck had 4 Teferi, Time Raveler, they could cast Scapeshift at instant-speed (Teferi's +1) at the end of the oponent's turn while locking out any interaction due to Teferi static ability and immediately swing afterwards
why was field of the dead so good it needed a banning? it needs them to get up to 7 lands and still loses to cinderclasm or any number of sweepers right?
not sure if this is a joke but ramp is as strong as ever nowadays, and a boardwipe only slows the victory, it's not hard to rebuild afterwards. field is like a bitterblossom that is tutorable and free, also with low cost of inclusion
Cinderclasm wasn't avaliable at the time. What we had was Flame Sweep (which I came to maindeck in a Feather, the Redeemed deck because of how obnoxious FieldShift was), but since that deck had 4 Teferi, Time Raveler, they could cast Scapeshift at instant-speed at the end of the oponent's turn while locking out any interaction and immediately swing afterwards
I think calling it an "Enabler" is inaccurate. You could just as easily say that Field of the Dead and Valakut are enabled by Scapeshift. It is key for the combo.
Another week, another dodged splinter twin video!

I hated that standard meta. It was absolutely awful to just lose to someone who scaped on your end step thanks to teferi

@@cirdanannare4843If the meme survives, Nizza should do it for April 1st
It’s back lmao
@@decktechsandspecs I noticed!! And it's still losing :D
I wonder what the top 10 artifacts are nowadays probably still top and jitte
Sideboards are included, so tormod's crypt and grafdigger's cage
I wouldn't be surprised if jitte and top were in top 5 in that list when he checks it again in a few years
I heard Mishra's Bauble is basically played everywhere in Modern so I guess it would be there to.
@@AigreSonge Don't forget the mox and the black lotus. They gain point every time a Vintage tournament happen.
@@Alex-gl8li probably not fast enough to out pace anything in modern
I remember when I pulled the m19 scapeshift from a booster back when it was 2 bucks now it is like 40 some dollars so a good pull in the long run
Players in 2008: “why would anyone want to use this stupid effect”
Zendikar sets “Allow me to introduce myself”
Absolutely, I've been having a great time doing something similar with World Shaper and Mill cards
Nice lighting set up dood!

Please free us with a Splinter twin video one day....
I've known about scapeshift but I feel like I've never seen that art, it's super cool though 🤩🐟
Wasn’t field of the dead banned in modern too?
Splinter twin right?
Left??
splinter twin ahead
Isn't even on the poll this week :(
No! Never!

Splinter twin is never coming out is it
... so it has basically always been hardly anything more that an enabler for Valakut or Field of the Dead.

Damn, splinter twin just can’t win
Wonder how a Scapeshift/Scute Swarm deck would fare...
poor splinter twin, reminded how noone loves it every single week. next week do a poll with just splinter twin so we can end its suffering?
Hello 👋
I'm so glad Field got banned. That shit was absolutely cancer and should never have been printed.
