I had four Ragdolls. I brushed and combed them every day. You do not have to give them a bath. I only washed their fluffy little butt once in a while if they had a litter box accident. But brushing is good for bonding and cuddling. Do NOT let them outside. They dont know about defense. Give them your attention and your heart. Every one of my four lived to be at least 18 years old. I miss them desperately.
I have a big private garden with my house, my Ragdoll is completely safe in the garden, we have beautiful trees where a lot of birds gather berries and food from, he loves watching the birds and the smell of grass. So going outside is good for a cat if you have the right house for it
I had 2 balinese and maximum I used to bath every 6 months. But for a cat this bath is too long. It should be 2 minutes and quick dry. I have a kitten ragdoll and if I need to bath her because the paws are full of shit I do very quickly. Their hair dries by itself or with a few towels. Poor baby all this hassle every month. Cats are very vulnerable with wet hair as the weigh them down and make them useless. Stop torturing him with that noisy hairdrier.
it's a ragdoll, they are much more cooperative than your average cat. I've had mine for a year and a half now, and she never scratched or bit me on purpose. She does signal when she's had enough and "simulates" biting or she taps me with her paw, it's more of a tap than a slap. Ragdolls are super friendly and likable cats.
My ragdoll is also very cooperative. It's part of their sweet nature. And they like to be near their "human" So don't make any fast turns without seeing where your cat is first.
I learned with my first long haired cat (a rescue) to give his fur a trim around his butt and back legs. Not only did it stop "cling on" poop when he finished in the litter box, but it helped him groom the area better.
Sweetest cat ever. Just watch where you step because they tend to follow you around. You won't regret it. They are sweet, clean, quiet and loving. Just feed them good, appropriate food, keep them brushed...they all have long hair, and love on them. They will love you back ten-fold.
I've a ragdoll too and he was pretty poopy so I asked my professor in nutrition (I'm studying vet) what to do and he suggested me to alternate the brands and the "flavors" of food. The problem is in their intestinal flora which (in my cat case) was used to one and only type of food and rejected any other variety. So now I'm alternating 3 different flavors (salmon, chicken and pomegranate and chicken+liver) one a day. At the beginning I was a skeptic, I feared he could poop all around because of new food but I'm glad to say he is fine now and he doesn't poop anymore (he poops but not liquid). I hope this was clear and maybe this can help you too. 🐱
We let Juniper try a lot of different brand and it was difficult for us. When her poop got worse, we had no idea which cat food or even treats weren't good - once it get worse, bad poop for a few days... so we eventually had to test each food separately. Some food cause acne too, it took so long to find the best food for her. Now we are feeding with probiotics and no poop issue. About food, we just stick on Whole Earth Farms and never got acne. I hope either experience helps other ragdoll, thank you for sharing your experience :)
Dont change foods too rapidly. Just give a little of a new food along with the old food for about a week, increasing the new food a little bit and decreasing the old food every day. That should avoid runny poops when you change food. Also some prefer dry food, some prefer wet. But dont give them cheap food or anything from China or the Pacific area. They are not controlled. And remember cats eat meat. They are not vegetarians... But keeping a planter of fresh grass growing for kitty to nibble on is a good idea... Might help with the poops too and also eliminates hairballs the healthy way.

Why did the cat need a bath? They groom themselves, and unless they get into something that should be enough and natural. Too much soap used that doesn't get completely rinsed out will dry the skin and cause dandruff/ dander. Typically, yes, but very long haired breeds like the Ragdoll can use a bit of extra help sometimes. It also helps with removing excess hair that can be harder to brush away, and thus preventing tangles :) The long hair also makes any accidents in the litter box a little harder to clean, and might require a bath.
Don’t know how you do that but it’s so cool my ragdoll hates the bath or shower I’ll try it once and his not having. So I have to take him to groomers.

Most cats don’t like running water, especially over them. So I recommend not using running water on the moment there in the sink or bathtub. Running waters (can) makes your cat feel uncomfortable. As soon as mine hears the water she runs. I usually put warm water and then take her but I only wash her bottom when it's dirty and at least once a week to see if she gets used to it
Cats need a shower when a kitten to make sure there clean , then they clean themselves , to bath them once a month is only causing stress on the poor thing
Depends, if the cat only stays inside the house, then i agree with you, if it goes outside, dont be retard enough to never wash him, specially if you have children, pliz dont have kids of you dont understand washing a cat its animal abuse, a kid died cuz his eye got infected when a stret cat scratched it, if you worry cuz you are not smart enough to realize that the stress of showering won't kill ypur cat, cuz they can get use to it (their ancestors are not afraid of water and are good swimmers) then let your cat go, to live free, cuz in a household of with kids, a cat that goes outside, and never gets a bath, its a risk around kids, maybe not a big risk, but why take it.
methat lovescats I don’t normally bathe my outdoor cats either because they clean themselves. But every cat needs a bath once in awhile. One time, when one of my cats was a kitten, they rolled around in dog shit so we gave them a bath. Indoor cats might not roll in poop in particular, but messes still happen. I don’t see why this cat needed a bath, but there could be a good reason.
@Heather Elliott what if they're covered in bacteria around the house? Hell you still need to wash them though and make them get used to it. Of course dont need to wash them often but especially if ur going to kiss them and dig your nose in their fur and stuff you don't want to be sniffing bacteria. I admit I sniff my plush toys that I carry around in my house and I get blackheads all the time, it's the same thing with cats
@Heather Elliott you can make them get use to it cuz they descend from predators that are good swimmers, the rumors that water can kill your cat are false, sure, dont bath them every day or every week, but if your cat goew outside, why take risks by never shower it? Theres always a 1 in a 100 chance you get infected with a bacteria cuz cats explore a lot, they cpyld be in dirty roofs or nasty junkyards, never assume a cat never needs a bath.
I wash my cats often your better off getting a big bucket with warm water and use a cup to pour it carefully on the cat the way your doing it will scare the cat. Try it you'll see how much better it will be.🐱
joydarling314 it's not the best for their skin or coats to bath often , grooming with a suitable brush and pet wet wipes for any mishaps on fur are best so bathtime can be reduced to hep oils and condition skin & coat .

I bath my cats it’s easier then I towel dry them and keep them in a warm room . They are long haired Persians I don’t use a hair dryer
I have a 15 week Ragdoll called Gabriel and fell in the bath a couple weeks ago so I think that will put him off of going in again though I will try my best xx
You can see him in my profile pic
don't bath your kitten
Beautiful kitty.
Thank you x
ᴆᴀʀɢᴀṣ Don’t fucking bathe yourself don’t you?
Amazing
This is my favorite type of cat
Белая и пушистая, тоже хочу такую кошку.
Bath time? More like bad time
👍👍👍👍✌✌✌
Not nice. Cats don't need baths! Also his body language told you he didn't want to be bathed. You also should not pick them up by the neck scruff, we are not their mothers. Please do your research. Maybe try Jason Galaxy's books.
Why wash cats? They groom themselves
As soon as mine hears the water she runs. I usually put warm water and then take her but I only wash her bottom when it's dirty and at least once a week to see if she gets used to it
Wjata good cat!
Cats need a shower when a kitten to make sure there clean , then they clean themselves , to bath them once a month is only causing stress on the poor thing
Depends, if the cat only stays inside the house, then i agree with you, if it goes outside, dont be retard enough to never wash him, specially if you have children, pliz dont have kids of you dont understand washing a cat its animal abuse, a kid died cuz his eye got infected when a stret cat scratched it, if you worry cuz you are not smart enough to realize that the stress of showering won't kill ypur cat, cuz they can get use to it (their ancestors are not afraid of water and are good swimmers) then let your cat go, to live free, cuz in a household of with kids, a cat that goes outside, and never gets a bath, its a risk around kids, maybe not a big risk, but why take it.
so cute~~😻😻
aww what a cutie
Si tous les Ragdoll sont aussi gentils que lui. J'en adopte un tout desuite.
Indoor cats dont need baths.
methat lovescats I don’t normally bathe my outdoor cats either because they clean themselves.
Yes especially not once a month
Shut the fuck up
@Heather Elliott you can make them get use to it cuz they descend from predators that are good swimmers, the rumors that water can kill your cat are false, sure, dont bath them every day or every week, but if your cat goew outside, why take risks by never shower it? Theres always a 1 in a 100 chance you get infected with a bacteria cuz cats explore a lot, they cpyld be in dirty roofs or nasty junkyards, never assume a cat never needs a bath.
I wash my three raggies every month too, none of them let me use hair dryer, they just run away
You are ok in bathing them, dont believe the retard rumor cata don't need baths, just don't, you know, wash them everyday 😂
Heather Elliott ... Change your name from Elliot to Idiot.
Most cat people are ar this level of stupidness
Peaches times of Alan Poe Lmao you sound really brain dead.
@@pastben You should only bath them when necessary, with a Ragdoll cat it's very unlikely it would be necessary due to them being indoor cats.
Your a good cat Mom ! 😸
Help, get me out. Wow, she’s not afraid of the hair dryer.
😚🐈
I would be bleeding everywhere if I tried giving my cat a bath.
I wash them because I'm allergic. There coats are beautiful
@@joydarling314 Yes same here. Allergy but love to put face on Juniper's fluffy belly after bath lol
Juniper is so cute. How old is the kitty now?
@@joydarling314 1 year and 4 month now. We were busy with moving and starting new life. I will try to post more videos this year
How do you keep her so still when doing the dryer mine would take off and hide
so cuteee
I( just me), Would not be doing this in THE KITCHEN SINK.
why not
Me to not to be rude.but its better in
The bathroom.😂😂😂😂
Lol why are people so mad that he washed his cat geez!!if its dirty of cos he's gonna wash it!!i washed my cat every 2 weeks if she goes outside and layed on the mud...because afterwards she will always jumped onto my bed and i want to keep my sheets clean
I think your cat kinda likes it. Not fighting like the other cats are.🤪
with such success, it is easier to throw the cat in the washing machine)
Hi l💗your cat. Im getting a baby kitten
Tomoro. Your cat has such a sweet
Face.😂😂😂so cute.
Tell her i sad hiiiiiiiiii.🥰🥰🥰😙😙😙
Please do NOT bath your cat (unless it is absolutely necessary) and never blow it dry like that! Don‘t do it to your baby kitten 🙏🏻☹️
