Super cool shop Dave. I’m jealous of how much space you have. I have smaller one, but then it’s also jammed with all the gear and tools. Also really cool you have an actual lynx in there.
Love the workshop!! Looks awesome and its so tidy!! I thinks thats every skiers dream :D Also really like the high quality videos. I really enjoy watching them!!
Thanks Dave, I really enjoyed the boot/liner hacks, I to have pretty narrow heals and have just moved over to intuition liner, very pleased with the fit after a couple of reheats. Also a great fan of the spoiler. I think you’ve shed shamed most of your viewers…….Keep em coming 👍
@@DaveSearle No worries it's been 20 years or so. Last time we climbed together was at Telegraph Hole in Torquay and I fell off the end of my rope like a total ****. I believe it was your first E1 and 100% my first ride in a helicopter 🤣 It's Tim mate. Big love to you, so incredible to see that you're doing so well, so many incredible achievements. Stumbled across your channel completely by accident but it's excellent props to you brother ✌️💚⛷️
very nice, I like the added value of your videos, or educational dimension, information sharing... much better than most 40+ minutes videos that just dont have the substance. would love to see ski quiver video and also some more tips from the terrain like you already do.
I also have skinny heels and struggle for hold. To solve this I've ended up with hawx ultra XTDs with normal non-touring zipfits for resort days which is an amazing setup. I then bought high volume intuitions for touring which gave good heel hold. The problem is, the intuitions have so much extra material around the foot that they're super uncomfortable. I think I either need to commit fully to the intuitions and get the forefoot of the boot blown out (sad as zipfits are amazing) or else think about the touring zipfits, but the weight was very offputting to me at the point I decided to get intuitions. Very difficult to get this right!
I’d wait to see if the intuition liners pack out a bit before modding the boot shell. Give it several days. Maybe this new light touring zipfit will be an option in the future
I also have skinny heels. Was in a pair of hawx ultra XTDs for a couple seasons and struggled for heel hold. I put a pair of tour wraps in and they were hell... Couldn't solve the heel issue without adding way too much volume to the top of my foot. Got 0g pro tours last season and did one season with the stock liners which I quite enjoyed for a time but they packed out after ~50 days. Been on the GFTs this season and they ski incredibly well. It's not the best uphill setup but whatever, the downhill is more important to me and I can still easily crank out huge days in them. The 0g tour pros + zipfit GFT skis so well that I'm considering just getting rid of my resort boots and one boot quivering them (and maybe adding a 0g peak for a lightweight option)
@@mttprkr Hard for me to say because I never skied the XTD with the GFTs, but the 0g + GFT combo was definitely better than any XTD setup I skied. I skied the 0gs in resort (Alta) this weekend and kind of forgot I was on a touring setup they skied so well.
Interesting to see you with the Raide forward lean piece on the ZG. I’ve looked at it and blanched at the cost but am running a taped in wedge to get the lean I want
Those new GFTs look very promising. When 'world cupping' my existing Intuition liners into my boot shells, I'm finding the base of my Sidas custom moulded footbeds are cracking at the flex point. Have you noticed this issue, and if so is there any way round the problem other than to keep plastic 'welding' across the crack?
Hi Dave, thank you fof the hint (raide research forward lean mod) - nice. Can you tell us more about mounting it? easy? difficult? any risk of damaging the boots? tia
Have you ever padded the inside of the front shell or the outside of the toe liner to add some extra “insulation” instead of having people requiring heated insoles or socks? I’m thinking of getting an XXL 1-2mm neoprene swim bootie and cutting the toe off and gluing to the front of the inner boot.
@ I have very little space but would think 1-2mm might work glued to the inside of the shell instead of outside of the liner. New boots, will see once they mat out
It’s definitely narrower than the gft in the prototype but they are adressing that and making them more accommodating to wider feet. I’m excited to see what they come up with. Should be great!
Beauty. so I have my fingers crossed then for Dynafit to release a Ridge "Free" version and a light zip fit liner, which all somehow magically fits my foot.
Hi, nice video and nice family cave:) Concerning the 0G what do you think about it in comparison to the ultra Hawx Xtd 130? I’m debating to put in a zipfit liner in the ultra boots to stiffen them up. Also thanks for putting the video up nice .
I tried it with the hawx ultra and it felt great. I like those boots a lot, nearly got them. Might stiffen it up a little bit but mostly it locks your heel down which is way more important than stiffness imo.
Dave, always good to listen to peoples thought process on kit. Interesting that you wear battery heated sock. What are your thoughts on mitigating the transceiver interference?
Hey Dave I've been looking at the GFTs for replacing the liner in my phantom snowboard hard boots. Definitely on the top of the list for next season. My big question is how long do the Lenz socks last and how often are you washing them? I've been eyeballing these and my reservation is the price tag. They are certainly not cheap and would like them to last a number of seasons before replacing them.
Hi Garrett, I’ve been using these socks for several years. The batteries last 3-4 seasons before a substantial drop off in charge and the socks perhaps last two seasons. Depending how much you ride. You can easily wash them in the washing machine with the bag provided at 30deg C. They work super well and only had one issue with one sock several years ago that they replaced FOC
Very useful video! Did you have a chance to try the liners before buying or you have a special deal with Zipfit where they send you a bunch of sizes. There aren’t many shops in Europe distributing the brand…
They just sent me a 25 liner that worked for me zgtp just take the corresponding size. The toe box is very flexible on the GFT so it stretches to accommodate.
How does it tour with the extra cork? And how did the stock ligner weigh? I have very simmilar issues with tge skinny heel abd im wondering about a liner but I want to keep that boot light
It’s certainly stiffened the walk mode up a bit but after a while it relaxes again. It’s heavy, double the weight of the stock liner at least. The new version might be a better option as the start weight is only 80g more than the stock.
@@DaveSearle Nice. That's not so bad for the new one. Might start with some foam and see how I go. Currently have to run the calf buckles one away from maximumly cranked (with a spoiler and the rubber shin thing). So thinking of trying something to bulk that area out a bit too. Or maybe I should just hit the calf raises. Haha
Love the video's! Great space (and cat) you've got going :). At the 2.25 (and 3.40) mark, you seem to have an extra white strap(?) on your bags, is that for attaching ice axes/tools on either side, since the khroma bags only have the one attachment point? I've been thinking about adding a strap/loop like that to mine. If that is what it is, would you mind sharing what you did? Or if it's not, what it's there for? Thanks!
@@DaveSearle Aha, I failed to notice you've got the zipper ones (30L). I have the (older?) 38L rolltop. The 38L does not have that white strap, unfortunately :). Might macgyvar something similar, since I do like having the rolltop. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

You can sand or slice material off the outside of the Intuitions in the spot were they are too tight.
