I took an appreciation of music class in college and one thing we learned is how traditional African music is based on the "talking" drum. The player would actually squeeze the sides of the drum to change the tension on the skin.

No comment y'all already knew what I was thinking....my old drum instructor from high School can play that as well...the catch is he's only 3 or 4 years older then me..I was in 11th grade and he was in college...I mean the guy plays clean...but as far as those fills and sounds...that's nothing new! Maybe to some one who doesn't know drumming and rudiments because that's all it is...

While this dude is slammin’ and he’s a crazy good drummer I’d have to agree that dudes acting like he’s better then he really is. But I guess for that genre it’s rare to have a guy this good.
@@zagreatandini2345 I'm going to have to disagree entirely. Aside from the fact that you're comparing this guy to a relatively average metal drummer, there are more things about this performance that are impressive to me than anything I've heard from Alex Bent. These fills are anything but "cloudy"
@@Hreodrichyou'd didn't point this out for me but I didnt compare him to anyone myself or even suggest that he's a bad drummer but I do think that the fills were cloudy with ghost notes. Believe that the camera angles and presentation had a lot to do with overall quality.
