I am waiting on mine, which should arrive tomorrow. I went with i3, 8G/32G non-touch. The SSD is getting yanked and a 256GB Transcend 42mm M.2 is going in there.
Nice vid! I got the base i3 model and love it! The microSD card is about the only negative thing I have to say about it, and that's pretty minor since I usually use a USB reader anyway. Cheers!
+Graham Knights I have found I can use a HUB that allows me to plug in things like SD card extensions, and thumbdrives. So all is not lost. But like he says, you can use an SD card adapter with a microSD card inside. That will work in a lot of other machines, including your PC.
Your video was part of my process for choosing my Dell 13 i5 touch. Looked at the Toshiba and Pixel, sort of split the difference with the Dell. Aside from the micro SD, this thing is virtually flawless. 12 hours on battery and nothing slows it down. Thanks for the resource.
great review on this and all others btw...I watch a lot of your reviews as they are always balanced and nearly always reflect my views after I've bought a product or looking at one
I'm new to this channel so this was the first review of yours I've seen. And I have to say it was excellent, you covered all the key points in great details and the video quality itself was also fantastic. Great video man, I've subbed!!! ;)
great video Math ;-) happy that you like chromebook ! I'm using a Samsung chromebook 3 serie for more than 1 year and a half, and I'm still loving it ! Big thumb up from France ;-)
Thank you very much Matt, I was needing a review as professional as you do, great review. I'm thinking about take one of those, but did you prove the Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015? I'm still undecided.
+Erick Marte if you value a longer battery life (a lot more) and build quality get this. if you want to save 100 dollars for a slightly better screen get this.
Love my Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015 edition which I'm using right now. Everything is perfect... Except, one year after use I can no longer use it unless it's being charged. I guess my laptop's battery died
Thanks for the great review . After using the Samsung Chromebook 2 for two years, came the time to replace it. I just upgrade with the Dell 13. It's amazing computer. First class chromebook. It's more expensive ? yes !! But for many reasons, like you said above. Thanks again for the pro review!!
Great review, it was really well produced, informative, and just about the perfect length. Do you think it's worth the extra money for the i3 version with 8GB of RAM? What's the limiting factor in these machines, the processor, ram, or storage speeds? Thanks!
+Kev50027 Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think it's worth it if you plan on using it for most of your work. If this is just a chromebook you use for vacation or on the off chance you dont want to carry your main laptop around, then the weaker spec'd model should suffice
I'm disappointed that it has No Full-Sized SD Card Slot, especially at this price. I wanted to buy this Dell, but now I'll look for another Chromebook.
Thank you for your thorough review. This is one of my top choices, but I'd please like to know how is the fan noise? Is it loud or high pitched? I have a sensitivity to sound (Meniere's disease). Do you have any recommendations for the best fanless chromebook available?
It may be some silly questions but can we watch films on a Chromebook and download music images and videos. Also if I were in a place where there is no Wi-Fi, that means that the laptop is not going to work or what ?? And one last question, can I download powerpoint, word and excel. Thank you for your responses.
Great video! Thank you! I'm just wondering if you think the "odd lag" you experienced in webpages is caused by something in particular or a general performance issue albeit limited?
Can you tell me how this Chromebooks handles the TeamViewer app that's available from the App store (or generally, how a Chromebook handles TeamViewer in general). I'm considering to buy this laptop, and seeing as I'm engineering, I rely on a few Windows-only softwares. I have a powerful desktop computer at home, and I plan on use the Chromebook and TeamViewer to get work done.
Thank you for the review. I ended up getting the i3 version. I don't regret it. It's almost half the price of the pixel and spec wise you are getting a big bang for your buck. Which just isn't true for the pixel.
I am using windows 8.1 and feel good about it. But I wonder how chrome OS works? Can I have microsoft office, FL studio, and After effect there? If so, someday I will get it for my cousin...
+Matthew Moniz Installing Linux Ubuntu with a script called Crouton gives you a fully fonctionnal Linux machine besides Chromeos. I've done it, and trust me, I am no developper. Iy's a plus for thoses willing to do video editing and graphics.
Sadly no, to what I know it is not able to be upgraded. you can get an sd card though with the slot! here is a 64gb one for 30 dollars! (most likely around the same for other currencies) its at best buy too! www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-ultra-plus-64gb-microsdxc-class-10-uhs-1-memory-card-red-gray/6151266.p?skuId=6151266
What abt the processing power & the graphics? How will handle playing movies off an SD card? I now have an Asus C100P (1.8 GHz, 4 GB) and it can't play movies smoothly. I too would prefer an SD rather than a microSD slot.
+Frank Floyd I have the Toshiba 2 with 4gb ram and 1080p screen for over a year now and it has not given me any hassle or issue at all until now. I'm a power web browser and usually have 6 to 10 tabs open with maybe a video streaming in 1080p and the chromebook goes though all of that like a charm. Only rarely do i see a slight stutter.Still better to browse the web than any windows pc with its myriad problems. You will be better off with either of those two chromebooks, although the toshiba is a better value for money if you don't mind the plastic hardware.
+Frank Floyd Enjoy!. buck for buck the toshiba wins. plus i really enjoy the better speaker placement and newer processor(though i've heard the 3205u is better). one thing i do have to say, going toe to toe in the ring, dell has a granite chin. dell's build is supreme here. but no way is it worth the cost being a celeron chromeos. being a technician and enthusiast i rather buy a good protection plan, and get new electronics every 2-3 years. Moore's law.
+Javier Miglino or perhaps they were just trying to kill the rumor so once Google introduced it, it's like no one saw it coming, pretty clever actually.
"It's a light alternative to Windows 10" I'll say. It's basically the Chrome browser and nothing else. Windows has 10,000 times more features. Even Windows 95 is superior to Chrome OS.
Why would you buy any chromebook now? I would wait for all of the new ones that will come out in the near future with the ability to use andriod apps. I don't like this advice.
Its 1080p, Full-HD and 1920x1080!
+WalturBurk Lol.
youve gotta be joking
Mine is on its way. I battled with this and TCB 2 but the build and comfort of this provides the durability I need. Cannot wait.
NIce! That's awesome! Let me know how you like it= )
Great video Matt! Chromebooks are becoming much more capable.
+Canoopsy Thanks Canoopsy! I agree they're pretty great for basic stuff.
+Matthew Moniz Yeah like MacBook Airs but $500 less :-)
+Leowulf™ Well sans iMessage and FaceTime ;-)

I am waiting on mine, which should arrive tomorrow. I went with i3, 8G/32G non-touch. The SSD is getting yanked and a 256GB Transcend 42mm M.2 is going in there.
Keep up the great camera work dude, makes that extra bit of difference with you!
Thanks Michael!! I appreciate it
Nice vid! I got the base i3 model and love it! The microSD card is about the only negative thing I have to say about it, and that's pretty minor since I usually use a USB reader anyway. Cheers!
Thanks Graham! I agree it is minor but I thought I'd point it out. Thanks for watching !
+Graham Knights I have found I can use a HUB that allows me to plug in things like SD card extensions, and thumbdrives. So all is not lost. But like he says, you can use an SD card adapter with a microSD card inside. That will work in a lot of other machines, including your PC.
+Graham Knights Does having the i3 affect the battery life??
It might slightly affect battery life, but I'm still impressed with the battery life over my old Samsung.
+Scott Collier you're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful and I'm glad you're loving it!

great review on this and all others btw...I watch a lot of your reviews as they are always balanced and nearly always reflect my views after I've bought a product or looking at one
Thanks Richard I appreciate it! I'm glad you find them helpful and more importantly thanks for sticking around : )
Correct and straight to the point. Keep up the good work! Kudos to you! :)
Thanks Darren! = )
can I just say, your wood floors in the beginning are sooo pretty..
Ha! Thanks Kanesha = ) I like them too!
I bought one right after watching this video. Great review Matthew.
Thanks Liam! = ) Im glad you found it helpful!

great video Math ;-) happy that you like chromebook ! I'm using a Samsung chromebook 3 serie for more than 1 year and a half, and I'm still loving it ! Big thumb up from France ;-)
Merci Beaucoup Vito! That's the beauty of chrome books they last a long time. Thanks for watching!
+Matthew Moniz totaly agree ! My Samsung still goes all day long. Hope to see this premium Dell Chromebook in France ! good job ;-)
Thank you very much Matt, I was needing a review as professional as you do, great review. I'm thinking about take one of those, but did you prove the Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015? I'm still undecided.

Great quality video as always Matt. I was thinking about picking up a Chromebook at a Thanksgiving sale, I think this might be the one.
Thanks! If you grab it let me know how you like it!
nice review, can't wait till you do a pixel c review🙌
Thanks Darren! Hopefully I can get my hands on one!
+Adilson Amaro my pleasure Adilson! I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching it!
Awesome video Matt!
+Jo Olmedo Thanks Jo!! = )
Great review, it was really well produced, informative, and just about the perfect length. Do you think it's worth the extra money for the i3 version with 8GB of RAM? What's the limiting factor in these machines, the processor, ram, or storage speeds?

fanless ? How is the display compared to toshiba chromebook2 ? Nice video !!
+ajay b The Toshiba just has too much glare on it. I think the Toshiba is still a pretty nice buy considering its price right now for blackfriday 2015
Awesome review, thumbs up!
+Rumkata Petrov Thanks Rumkata!!
I'm just wondering if this even has a fan inside because i never hear it run , I have the i3 version
Really great review!!!! and by the way, nice t shirt you are wearing, LA VIDA ES CHULA, Life is Beautiful...
Thanks I really appreciate it!!! Life is defiantly beautiful thanks for watching!
Awesome vid Matthew. Subscribed! BTW what kind of camera/lens did you use for shooting this video?
Thanks Jason!! I use a Canon 70D and sigma art 18-35mm lens
great vid Matt
as always!
Must get that Touchscreen one. I'm all in with "living la vida browser " but just wonder if it's compatible with some of my kid's school programs.
Haha nice one. If they work In a browser they should be compatible.
Excellent video.
Thanks Karen !!
This is my next Chromebook
Nice! It's a great one. Let me know how you like it
I'm disappointed that it has No Full-Sized SD Card Slot, especially at this price. I wanted to buy this Dell, but now I'll look for another Chromebook.
I agree it would of been nice to have a full size. It's not a deal breaker since you just buy a USB to SD card adapter but it would make more sense.
Great review!
Thanks Wali!!
Benchmarks are not on the link that you provided
Thank you for your thorough review. This is one of my top choices, but I'd please like to know how is the fan noise? Is it loud or high pitched? I have a sensitivity to sound (Meniere's disease). Do you have any recommendations for the best fanless chromebook available?
Since this has a an actual i5 processor, it will be louder than other chromebooks. Look for ones that use the intel core m chips instead.
And as always
AWESOME VID
Thanks Asad! I appreciate it.
my school uses these and with all the lightspeed things loaded on it its sooo SLOW
A great review for a great Chromebook
+Stef Geb Thanks Stef! I'm glad you enjoyed it !

Amine Mhidi Senhaji i got the same question
Hi there could you please help me, Just need to know packaging dimensions so I can import to nz. Just want to calculate postage charges
¿Existe este chomebook con tecaldo en español?
can you review the 15 inch chromebook please.
Great video! Thank you! I'm just wondering if you think the "odd lag" you experienced in webpages is caused by something in particular or a general performance issue albeit limited?
General performance issue of the lower end model. If you get the i3 version it will non existent
+Matthew Moniz Wow, it fails even in its main area of use. Nice) Actually I have same problems with Chrome browser on Win7 machine.
great review!!
Thanks !!
this actually looks like the first chromebook that might make me move from the original Google designed HP Chromebook 11
Great video! Thank you!
+Hysterical Outrage You're welcome! = )
own it and love it. I shelled out extra cash for the I5 processor so it's very fast too.
Can you tell me how this Chromebooks handles the TeamViewer app that's available from the App store (or generally, how a Chromebook handles TeamViewer in general). I'm considering to buy this laptop, and seeing as I'm engineering, I rely on a few Windows-only softwares. I hair have it back ! But it should be fine
I got the i3 version with touch screen ips. No lag at all.
+TheFresh76 Awesome! It's a great chromebook!
Thank you for the review. I ended up getting the i3 version. I don't regret it. It's almost half the price of the pixel and spec wise you are getting a big bang for your buck. Which just isn't true for the pixel.
You're welcome Jack! Nice the i3 will be sweet and fast. It's certainly an awesome and premium Chromebook
Your "Chromebook 13 Benchmarks:" link takes you to a page that only has this video? Or am I missing something?
Oops I forgot to post the results let me see if I can find them and add them to the website.
+Matthew Moniz Awesome, thanks. I'll be looking forward to it!
I am using windows 8.1 and feel good about it. But I wonder how chrome OS works? Can I have microsoft office, FL studio, and After effect there? If so, someday I will get it for my cousin...
You can use office online but that's about it. Chrome OS is basically just a chrome browser
+Matthew Moniz Installing Linux Ubuntu with a script called Crouton gives you a fully fonctionnal Linux machine besides Chromeos. I've done it, and trust me, I am no developper. Iy's a plus for thoses willing to do video editing and graphics.
with chrome books on general can you use Google docs without an Internet connection?
If you get google docs from the chrome web store it can be used offline.
ok thanks, that would be kind of a deal breaker
Anybody know if this is going to get an update this year?
that booger
xD when you see it
I saw that as soon as it started
ha lol
I want that chromebook for my school I am 7 years od
Do chores and politely ask your parents for one.
You don't need one, kid. These chromebooks are for high school, uni and work. You're only watch youtube and play games with it.
What price
Whats the best travel chromebook? Small and Good display etc. Your opinion
acer chromebook r11
remember that you need an internet connection at almost all times considering the very low storage space
+Sune Pedersen but with Micro SD and android app support it shouldn't be a problem.
Also I'm wondering the same thing.
I think acer r11. Just the acer 11 if your an a tight budget but all of the flipping from the r11 i think would be nice for traveling
can i take out the ssd and put in a 128 gb if i wanted?
Sadly no, to what I know it is not able to be upgraded. you can get an sd card though with the slot!
here is a 64gb one for 30 dollars! (most likely around the same for other currencies) its at best buy too! www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-ultra-plus-64gb-microsdxc-class-10-uhs-1-memory-card-red-gray/6151266.p?skuId=6151266
swiperboy sb yes you can its a normal sized ssd
Is it called something else I Europe?
What abt the processing power & the graphics? How will handle playing movies off an SD card?
I now have an Asus C100P (1.8 GHz, 4 GB) and it can't play movies smoothly.
I too would prefer an SD rather than a microSD slot.
Thanks for the review, still can't make up my mind to get this or Toshiba 2. Can anyone help?

"La vida es Chula". T shirt sign. Do you have any idea what "Chula" means?. Cheers from México.
+Fabricio Luna yup "life is cool" : ) Thanks for watching !
How big is the power brick?
i dont know
Is it good for School use (for Grade 7's)?
Yup! perfect for school
Matthew Moniz Thank u 🤗, I was deciding between this or the HP Chromebook 13 for School
perhaps if the rumored chrome and Android merge becomes a reality then yes it's worth it.
+Javier Miglino they always say that, don't they?
+Javier Miglino or perhaps they were just trying to kill the rumor so once Google introduced it, it's like no one saw it coming, pretty clever actually.
+Javier Miglino Cant run pokerstars, n hearthstone tho. If u cud, it wud trash laptops, n tablets.
If the Touch version goes below $500 its an instant buy for me...
"La vida es chula" hahaha nice shirt
Lol thanks Daniel!
what's up guys, Matthew Moniz here, is Chromebook selfie even a thing? ....oh wait I'm Rick
Haha
my school uses chrome books fore the students
It's not a complete review not mention battery capacity
Get the Pixel. It is the best.
I'm sure it is but it's also ridiculously expensive
Yeah but you got the money. Have some fun, Matthew.
Chromebook Pixel prices are dropping to an affordable range in 2017.
I'm going to buy the HP Chromebook G1 13 instead...
I want it! but I have to order it :( so prob wont wait for it.
good video though
Thanks Carlos!
mouse pad not working
when our formated lap that will be not working
Actually, it has 2 usb ports. One on each side.
And only one of them supports usb 3.0 which is what he was saying
+Daniel Jaquez got you.
If Apple would give us web versions of iMessage and FaceTime, I'd be all over this
+Terry Carlton That would be pretty sweet!
....No longer available
"It's a light alternative to Windows 10"
I'll say. It's basically the Chrome browser and nothing else. Windows has 10,000 times more features. Even Windows 95 is superior to Chrome OS.
smh, this is for people who just want a netbook. You don't think chrome book owned have $700+ PCs?
It isnt the best in my opinion i think the 14 is the best
i have the samsung chromebook
+Nirjar Patel nice! How are you liking it?
it's ok
friendly advice: get your nose checked
The new toshiba is better.
that's your opinion
m0nstaLulz Well... yes. Wasn't it obvious?
+El Capitán In regards to cost efficiency, I agree with you.
Why would you buy any chromebook now? I would wait for all of the new ones that will come out in the near future with the ability to use andriod apps. I don't like this advice.
That booger is bothering me
but a great video though! lol
lol there is no bogger in my nose wtf you talking about haha. Thanks though!
There was

+Sam Albion Story of my life! I always sound plugged up even when I'm not! Sorry it didn't work out for you.
Intel celeron!!!! bwaaa haaaa haaaa
That is waaayy too much for a chromebook lol
