We spent our honeymoon here - I’d move to Tywyn in a heartbeat - why? Its quiet, the people are genuine, the beach is amazing, and there’s absolutely no pretensions from anyone. Can’t wait to go back again! Oh, and the bakery is simply brilliant.
Twwyn is the best came back from a holiday in twwyn. Last Saturday place is the best my grandad / shover knows it road from road shame he can't drive as good as he knows the roads
We used to spend a whole load of time across that seashore, mainly in the Arcade, I'm thinking it was the Buccaneer that was the largest, seems to be some buildings have been demolished since the 80s though
The transmitter was built for detecting the enemy planes during the war.. there were 6 nationally, only one on the west of England for obvious reasons.
I'm interested in the origins of this - Tywyn wasn't a coast chain radar site - it started use in 1913 by the Marconi company as a receiving site. Later use seems to have started in the 1950's by the BBC. To my knowledge MF can't be used for OTHR not radar reflectivity.
@g4shf wow.. thank you for that ... I am new here and thats what I was told ... they are not in use now and perry the peregrine as he is known eats his dinner on them ... definitely built by marconi. Great video... it is a little gem of a place. The wildlife is amazing...

Me and my wife have lived here for 15 years and it's like a honeymoon every day
It's easily the ugliest town on the west Wales coast. Much nicer places nearby.
