- 8 foot model of the lake freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald constructed out of LEGOs. In all it took 33 pounds worth of lego to create this model, and took around 25 hours to complete. It took over 25 pounds of pennies to get this model to sink.
The Edmund Fitzgerald was a lake freighter that sunk in 1975 during a storm on Lake Superior taking her crew with her.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called 'gitche gumee'
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and crew was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?
The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too,
T'was the witch of November come stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashin'
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya
At seven pm a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it's been good t'know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searches all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her
They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters
Lake Huron rolls, superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams
The islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
In the maritime sailors' cathedral
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call 'gitche gumee'
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early

Richard Bowley one bell too many.
I was hoping someone quoted the song, and was not disappointed... haha
…Welp, time to add that thirtieth bell back.
Sorry for being an ass back then too… I was young. Beautiful that you posted the lyrics here for all to enjoy.
I don't know why,but seeing things slowly sink in the water fascinates me!
you need to have a on board cameras so it can look cool
On november 10th 1975 , the lake freighter edmund fitzgerald sunk in lake superior by rogue wave
Water: ahh sh*# here we go again!
Do you have a brick list of Lego's you used?
Make more I love them
She sunk during a storm in Lake Superior.
I love how u do this like its almost the real thing I love this
where has this channel been all my life e.e
I bet went that model hit the pool floor, it didnt even look like the design it was supposed to be because most of the bricks probably came off in that hard boom.
GOOD VIDEO
It annoys me that the comments are filled with people asking for more ships, instead of enjoying the videos that are already up.
I live by the Edmund Fitzgerald because I live in Minnesota
Good that is a honor to them
Cool
Umm why u didn't make a wave for this ship sinking
Do you have a parts list for any of these so I can build one my self??
you should do the hms prince of wale next.
Did you create that with a help, cause that is longer than the queen mary that you create
it might be longer, but in terms of weight and width it was smaller, and easier to move around
lego ss arthur m anderson sinking model and the new you tube
howed you get it out of the pool lol it probably weighed alot
well when I was done filming it, it fell apart when trying to take it out. Did not make it too strong as I stretched my lego supply to its limit
+Sinking Lego Ships oh well that makes sense and i thought it was pretty cool nice job
All the crew died on the ship wich was 29 crew
Do you have blueprints for this?
+meikooceans Nope
