- Cass, Frankie, Felicia, Jamie, Michael, Marley, and Jake take the party out by the pool and are joined by Matt. Cass and Frankie open a gift of champagne flutes from Michael and Donna. When Michael says he's hoping they can use them to toast after the custody trial is over, Matt asks when the trial is. Cass replies that it's tomorrow, so they should probably cut this evening short. Everyone is surprised when Felicia greets the just-arrived Caroline Stafford, but especially Cass and Frankie. Frankie wonders aloud why Caroline keeps coming to Frankie's engagement parties, because Caroline hates her guts. Matt confesses that Felicia called and asked if Caroline could come and he didn't know what to say. Frankie is even more puzzled at the fact that Felicia did this. Cass, who has gone over to where Felicia and Caroline are talking, asked Felicia what's up when Felicia announces that she thinks they're about ready, then hands him an envelope. Cass opens the envelope to find a two-page telegram from Cecile. "This party just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it?" Frankie says then. (No kidding--first Miss Down Under shows up, then a two-page telegram from the Tart From Tanquir. Hello, this is supposed to be Frankie and Cass's day!) Cass asks how Cecile knew about the party, and Felicia replies that she told Cecile. Caroline pipes up that Felicia told her too. Frankie ponders aloud to Marley at this point that Felicia must have a chemical imbalance, low potassium or something. Felicia says this is a party to celebrate Cass's last few days as a bachelor, so she thought it would be appropriate to get a few of Cass's old girlfriends, herself included, to give him a proper send-off. Felicia went through Cass's old little black book and called several of the women he used to date, and when Felicia calls for the girls, about a dozen of Cass's old girlfriends walk out to the pool!
Cass then reads Cecile's telegram aloud and translates it. Cecile has absolutely no prospects whatsoever and is flat broke. Jake muses that it's a two-page telegram that's supposed to be congratulatory but all Cecile has talked about is herself. Jamie replies that they can't expect Cecile to talk about somebody else. Cass then skips to the part of the telegram about him and Frankie and reads that aloud. Cecile congratulates Frankie and says that she must be quite special if she's managed to take Cass away from the banquet table to a lifetime of dinners for two. Frankie asks if that's supposed to be a compliment, because it doesn't sound like one. Felicia then asks how Cecile paid for the telegram, and that's when Cass sees his credit card number at the bottom, meaning he paid for it! Frankie tells Cass they're cutting up that card right now. Cass finishes reading the telegram, and then Felicia says that Cecile may see the past as grand and glorious (which she said in the telegram), but having been in on it herself, Felicia sees it a bit differently. Felicia then addresses Frankie, and says that she and the other ladies feel that they all contributed to the education of Cass Winthrop. Frankie says they really did a good job. Felicia says that when Cass found someone perfect for him, he would know it for sure, so they are all there to celebrate what Cass found in Frankie, and of course to have a little fun with the groom. Cass then opens Caroline's gift, which is pajamas. Felicia continues that she and the girls were reminiscing earlier tonight, and they thought they would share some of those memories with the party. Cass says that won't be necessary. Jamie is called away when the phone rings, but he can't hear the person on the other end over the poolside revelry. Cass tells one of the ladies that if he hadn't left her stranded to get to a poker game, she never would have met her husband Jim. Felicia says Cass is right. Jake says that Frankie is really being a good sport about this. Marley says that's because Frankie knows that what she and Cass have is real, and when you have love like that, the past doesn't matter. Jamie agrees, then tells Marley and Jake that it was Vicky on the phone, and she's not going to make it to the party. Marley says that's too bad. Felicia then tells the party about how she and Cecile lived on different floors of the same building, and Cass used to go back and forth between them. Cass begs her to stop telling the story amid much laughter, which we see Amanda closing the terrace doors to shut out of the house.
One time I didn't think this was kind at all to do our Frankie.
I hate that idea Felicia had to bring so many of Cass' past girlfriends to Cass & Frankie's egagement party. Even though she said she didn't think Frankie would have a problem with it, I still find it quite stupid and insensitive. It's really tacky and unlike Felicia. She didn't even check with Frankie first.
