Eric Dier played 15 games for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga after signing for the club in January, and in 14 of them, Matthijs de Ligt was a starter. So Dier played alongside De Ligt, rather than instead of him, with Thomas Tuchel deciding they made a good pairing. In last season's Bundesliga, De Ligt featured in 31 games for Bayern München, scored three goals and provided one assist. Deligt is a much better, experienced player with 40% of Jarrad Branthwaite price.

The ratio is a simple one - Increase the number of players per team (I think there's enough money in football for that) or decrease the number of matches they have to play per season. Consider Chelsea... they have soo many players that if all were allowed to play, overload probably wouldn't be a problem would it?

The difference with the schweinsteiger deal was that Mourinho was not the one who wanted him at the club.
Therefore, he treated him so unfairly to the point where he sent him to train outside of the main squad to push him out of the club. And this isn’t to say all the fault comes down to Mourinho, it’s that the rotation of managers from 13-17 especially was so fast (no more then 2 seasons heck even Mourinho didn’t get to 2 and a half seasons) that the incoming players rarely every had a connection or desire to play for the manager as he would be either gone before or after the player signed.
With Ten Hag, he has not only survived 2 seasons, but has had De Ligt and others clearly in his sight for 2 years now even before he landed at old trafford for the first time + experience with them in such a tight knit club like Ajax at the time.
De Ligt will work because 1. The manager and him get along with the rest of the back line who have played for him from a young age and 2. De Ligt never played in a stable environment with a stable manager and squad.
He was never going to improve under the juventus scandal period and Bayern’s poor management both in and outside the pitch since last year. He clearly had great debut seasons solidifying his starting position and as a leader for both clubs becoming a fan favorite. But the club’s turmoil on both occasions (which were clearly out of even the managers control) costed him years of development

"You never, ever sign a player from a big club"
Gee, I guess Toni Kroos didn't turn out that well for Real Madrid when he was deemed a surplus at Bayern Munich when they bought him. Not saying De Ligt is a Kroos, but hindsight is always 20/20.

@20:53 Journo cites Klopp moaning about early KO's but he wasn't just bemoaning 12:30 KO's carte blanche, he asked why is it LIV playing the most of them!
At that time some one put up a list of who played the most 12:30's, it was LIV-12, then further down the list CITY-5.
So Journo don't be a lazy bones, tell the whole story, how come LIV played 12 and their title rivals, CITY only played 5?
    You think that is fair?
There's no reason for it to be tilted so much in CITY's favour like that, none!
There's plenty of video evidence of VAR decisions going CITY's way, or going against Arsenal & LIV, which indirectly is CITY's way too.
And I'm an Arsenal fan, but see it and call it straight, you do the same or don't talk about the subject!

Comparing two decades + ago wages, they're lucky if these players who make 5/6-figures a week aren't playing every three days and training twice a day 6 days a week. 5 subs per game and a squad of physios and sports MDs to put them back on the pitch... Alternatively they could start a 40hrs per week job and watch the game on TV

What quality are we going to see in that Club World Cup, players will be on their last legs?

  • @lukelocks9083

The greedy clubs have only themselves to blame for giving FIFA a excuse to bring in the World Club Cup, for they cannot turn around to FIFA and say our players need some summers off.
Wenger used to do pre-season in Austria, not far flung places like OZ, USA, Asia, citing not over burdening players before the season begins.
Yet this same man, after joining FIFA, then sings about the World Cup should be every 2 yrs. Why the change of mindset?
Why is FIFA dominated by French speakers? Blatter, Platini, Wenger.
How many English have/are in high positions at FIFA?
