Someone To Call My Lover is my first memory of Janet and truly captures the sheer joy and hopefulness of the early 2000s.
Released three months before 9/11. Tranquility’s last stand. :(
I love how she combined "Ventura Highway" and "Gymnopedies". "Someone to Call My Lover" is just a happy song. :)

I absolutely admire her appreciation for music. The way Janet is inspired by music outside of her own genre is amazing, she does music a favor with how she combines all of those sources of inspiration. Some people listen to commercials and take it as that - just a commercial tune. Other people hear something that grabs their attention and immediately analyze and inspect its beauty. Truly fascinating!

She said the production brought it to her and she had never heard the original song. I’m surprised, but they also had global music at home with instruments from every continent so not too surprised.
