This helped me slow down & enjoy the process of making art again after feeling paralyzed for so long. I feel free. Thank you so much for sharing, it means more than you know 💜
i love doing the blobs sketch! i did it when i'm on artblock. the tip is don't expect that you will get great artworks, just don't think anything just draw the 1st thing u thought or see :) really fun to do! ❣ thank you for sharing heikala 🐱❤
I’m a person who’s scared to make mistakes, but I think I will definitely try sketching with a pen, maybe a coloured one. I’m this sort of person who erases things way too often so giving me the option where I cannot ‘undo’ would be great. Recently, I’ve been sketching with coloured pencils instead of my normal arsenal of HB, 2B and 2H pencils. Since my coloured pencils made it difficult for me to erase, it was really refreshing and I found out I enjoyed it. Not to mention it made my sketchbook very colourful!
I love your drawings so much. I've been feeling quite uninspired lately, but watching this reminded me that at the end of the day, drawing is about having fun and setting your creativity free. Thank you for these amazing tips.
Can i say. I used to be soooo scared of just drawing with a pen and not being able to go back. I got a fountain pen a lil while ago and i'v been doodling a lot with it and it has helped me so much with not really my skill but more so my confidance! I'v been able to doodle and make some really cool studies of, mainly, very fluffy rabbits but i hope to draw some more things with it!
Thank you for these ideas. I will try switching from pencil to pen and allowing myself to move on from a sketch to get more practice. I also like the idea of one minute form sketches.
i enjoy the drawing only with pen idea so much! i did a one month challenge with it and learned a lot from the experience so especially now i try to sketch in pen and marker more often. i lack confidence in my lines and in my skills so i like to use this method as much as i can. i used to get really stressed over it but now i actually enjoy it a lot! it allows me to "fail faster" and stick to the flow of the drawing. not everything turns out great but i'm learning and enjoying the process. i'll have to try out the other methods you shared especially the different mediums as i enjoy a variety of them but get a bit scared to try >< thank you so much! :)
Your sketchblobs are my favourite to watch !! I love to guess what are you gonna draw and it's always a surprise. these are that inspires me the most. I found you first at facebook but hearing your voice here on youtube is lovely, thanks for the tips 🥰🥰🥰
What a wonderful art book collection! I would be so so grateful if you did an art book collection tour, or even dropped the names of the ones from the video. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, thank you 🙏
Dear Heikala, your advice are really toughful, and their progression from freehand to more complex, is deeply natural and organic. Thank you for showing your way, it is really helpful.
the reason i want to improve my art is because i feel like i'm working on myself too. even though it's more of a hobby, it's almost like i'm painting my personality in the mirror. these tips sound amazing, thank you
Ever since I, inspired by you, started to sketch primarily with ballpoint pens about three years ago, I've seen such massive improvement in my art! Thank you Heikala
These are really good tips. I remember seeing you do the first method years ago, maybe when i was on Patreon and attempted those digitally. It was pretty great for a while and i should get back to it. I was too embarrassed to share them though . Thanks for such a well thought out and detailed video. I miss drawing with crayons
I’ve always got annoyed at making mistakes in pencil drawing but never just drew with pen as I thought sketching first was more professional Now knowing drawing with pen only will improve my drawing is rlly helpful ;]
had no idea you had a youtube channel!! thank you for sharing your work :) one time a friend of mine apparently tabled next to you at a con and she said you were friendly, but that she didnt know you. when she told me about it i was like WHAAAT !! ... sorry if thats a cheesy story but i just remembered it. i love your art a lot, it radiates a peaceful energy!
You’re a great teacher! Some of these exercises I have tried before and they have always helped me break out of my box. Great video and examples, it gives me energy to draw more in 2022! 👏😄💛
I really like these tips , definitely use them whenever Im in creative funk. Your videos also reminds me to enjoy the process of art and not get soo overwhelmed by it all. Thank you ~
I am loving the exercise with the shapes. It's helping a lot to understand about how watercolor works, since I just started with It. Tysm tysm for sharing this ❤️ I love your work, and it's all is so inspiring for me ❤️
Wow these were really helpful! i really like the watercolor blob idea!!. it would be nice if you could add an art material list so we can see what products you used for each part. Thank you! this really inspired me. :)
Everything inspired me so I might do these when my exam is over next week even tho exam is still not here I'm so damn busy 😭 Btw you just earned a new subcriber 😊💖
OwO It's fun to draw with pens, now I'm thinking of finishing that left behind portrait XD and maybe draw onepiece , since it will be my cousin's birthday.(Although I don't know If I'm close with that cousin of mine :p)
Fully agree with sketching with a pen it helped improve my art a lot, I even prefer it. Now even if I draw with a pencil I never erase and with digital, I avoid control Z. Using an eraser feels unnatural to me now

As an artist who started up the studying of anatomy quite "late" i would say its best to study it in order to learn to proportion your characters. If you were to see my drawings pre vs post anatomy studies its clear how post looks way better. In this one exercise it doesnt seem to matter as much. But in drawing in general i believe its best to do so. It doesnt matter if your artstyle is really cartoonish or not, Its best to know the rules before breaking them. :) This being said i wish you luck on your artistic journey ^^ we all start somewhere so dont be discouraged if you feel you cant properly draw a line c: you need to take steps to reach the goal not teleport.
@@ponchina6350 thank you! I will definitely try my best not to be frustrated during the anatomy learning journey. I hope you will have a great day ahead ^^
Just to add on to that, if there's a specific body part you are having trouble with--hands and feet come to mind easily--focusing on just that. As homework, an art teacher had me sketch 50 hands. You weren't supposed to take more than 5 minutes on each hand. No erasing, and use a different pose each time. By drawing a lot of the same thing, your eyes / brain will start to pick up on what's right versus wrong. And you'll find that when you go to freehand, you'll find you have a better idea of what things are supposed to look like.
The tip about sketching with pen only really inspired me, thanks for sharing!
It's impressive how you come up with such great sketches within those random shapes. I guess that's what years of experience entails.
This helped me slow down & enjoy the process of making art again after feeling paralyzed for so long. I feel free. Thank you so much for sharing, it means more than you know 💜
Thank you so much! I’m so glad this video was able to help you out 😭💕 I have those feelings too from time to time!
I like the idea of not afraid to making mistake, learn and move on to the next sketch
Thank you for sharing this~
I do erase ALOT when drawing.
So...I guess I'll try drawing with a pen then. :
May everyone be encouraged and never give up!!

Ihana ja inspiroiva video!
saanko kysyä mikä tuo Tove Janssonin kirja oli?
I have no distinct art style and it breaks my heart. My art will never be recognized as "my own"

What is a kroki?
i love you
Is it 11:30 pm for the lounch
What`s the name of the watercolor brush you used initially which had transparent glass handle?
what paint did u use for the pears?
What is that arm thing she is wearing near the beginning of the video? Does that reduce fatigue when drawing?
May I know if you learn drawing anatomy first or you just go by whatever looks okay to you? I'm having a hard time to just draw a line 😭

I feel like if I do this exercise I can only draw the shape first and fill out the base color…😢(i know this means nothing
