I can’t believe she is fighting with the past eras in the video, it’s so cathartic and deep. Villain is the Joanne with the hat. Brunette haired her representing ARTPOP. Twins are The Fame and The Fame Monster. Slicked back hair for Chromatica and the veil for Born This Way. Lastly, the tortured Gaga is her current self, chased by the past versions of her. Correct me if I’m wrong but this is what I got. She literally said I’m my biggest enemy and showed how it’s scary and claustrophobic it’s to face her demons. I love her for that, how open she is, she always inspired me to face my true self and I discovered a lot of aspects of me. I’m so thankful that I’m a fan of her, I’ll always be. Love you GaGa🖤🤍

This song has a vital meaning to it - more so than themes of darkness. It’s about self control, specifically controlling yourself from your own darkness. And, possibly, not controlling your darkness but acknowledging it and accepting it. With the images of her fighting, hurting, embracing and running from herself??? This is self awareness and love baby. We’re in a new age of Gaga and I’m glad we got another in this lifetime.

Instead of pandering to a pop-princess audience, she has once again affirmed her position as the strongest leading female performance artist. She tells the most compelling story in this film and uses her own body to do so with everything she's got, and by standing alone has showcased that she is and always has been, the show. I am in love with this. For her to evolve in this way and pay homage to her own art form has moved me deeply, and I am forever grateful for her service to art.
