Truth can be said in an entertaining way, it's all about the delivery

Enlighten me - how can I entertainingly tell people that their favorite singer has completely thrashed their voice due to poor vocal hygiene and management and that if they try and emulate said singer their voices will likely follow the same path?

@@ZachAnsleyBe respectful, bring data that backup your claims, don't attack the singer they idolize it will bring backlash even if you're truthful, attack the practice that the singer used and tell them the consequences of it, you can also make few jokes from time to time, a prime example of a UA-camr who is like that is Andrew huberman, he criticized a lot of things and praised a lot of things yet he gets the respect he deserves because he is simply a respectful person

@@ZachAnsley also this video is awesome because you're expressing yourself while being truthful about your thoughts, if huberman had a shitty personality or put lies out there he will definitely get a large community of haters

Also, what's a guy gotta do to request a reaction or critique vid of a certain artist?

One thing they DON'T seem to point out, is that that kind of viewer base, the ones who ALWAYS comes and demands to be entertained, that's the kind of audience that's least likely to stick around long term. Look at KT, dude barely clocks in at 10-20k views on a 1M+sub channel in his latest vids. And I doubt other "vocal coach" reacts channels are significantly better.
Another thing I've observed as a UA-cam watcher, is that whoever tries to give you "tips" or "if you want to grow" advice on any media platform is:
    1) Lying
    2) Doesn't understand that correlation is not causation(just because you see number go up doesn't mean that you actually KNOW WHY number goes up)
    3) Stupidly unaware that they won the lottery
Ultimately, I'd say, if those kinds of people are telling you that you HAVE to only entertain to grow an audience on UA-cam, it's more reflective of their own practices and how they curate their own audience rather than any meaningful advice for a smaller channel.

If there's any doubt that they're basically obeying market forces as any good marketing specialist would, you need not go further than their playlist and why is never diverse when it comes to their popular videos: That side of only ever "analyzing and reacting" to Dimash, Akudinova, Pomoy, Nightwish and Jinjer on the metal side, A few big names in latin american pop like José José or Juan Gabriel, etc. Its basically reinforcing this very same point and one that none of them can't hide: reacting to performances and artists that might offer something worth pointing out is not even secondary or tertiary to obeying demographics and trends: As you put it in terms of what people want to hear, the part they can't hide is from whom they want to hear from and that's super specific artists and performances.

There's GOTTA be a way to be entertaining without just telling people what they wanna hear (i.e., lying).

It depends on what you want to accomplish. It's really hard to entertain people while telling them that their favorite singers vocal technique is potentially destructive.

This is true. Personally I think there can be a good balance of making education more entertaining as well tho

It’s not really hard to tell which ones blow smoke. Personally, I prefer informative education and honesty over sugar coating. In fact I refuse to have my time wasted with dishonesty.

I dunno, some of them these days have gotten really good at making it seem like they are telling the truth when they really aren't. A couple of people near the top who talk to 'important people' a good bit have mastered the art of making the fanbase fall for them despite dishonest commentary that seems more true than it is.

Regurgitate wikipedia or CNN and talk like your explaining it to 5 year olds
Congratulations you are now a UA-camr.
    It's an echo chamber anymore

This isnt nessesarily true. You can make the truth entertaining. That’s what people like crash course and bill wurtz do.

    • @ZachAnsley

Of course, but I'm specifically talking about the vocal coach spheres. I can't make it fun to tell you that your favorite harsh vocalist is ruining his vocal mechanism. There is no way to make that fun, trust me. 1000 death threats later I have learned that it just isn't possible.

@@ZachAnsley I guess so. I’ve always made my main goal to entertain, and I usually trivialize or make fun of real life events. However, if something is serious, I give my genuine opinion on it, and people seem to respect that.

When you repeated what they said, they talked about entertainment, not straight up lying. UA-cam has its share of liars, but you can be entertaining without lying to your fans and lots of people are. Think before you talk trash about other people who were trying to help.

I would argue that giving people false information about their favorite singers to make people feel good in order to make them follow and subscribe is... lying. You have no idea the discussions I have had with some of these bigger youtubers, and you have no idea how narcissistic and self-interested many of them are. They do not care about you or your knowledge. Most vocal coaches on youtube aren't trying to help you. I am trying to help you be able to see this for yourself. Many vocal coaches on youtube aren't even actual voice teachers. They simply say they are for false credibility. I know these things for an absolute fact and the only reason I don't cite specific examples and call out names is because it would start a war on the platform, and I've already been caught on the butt end of that once. I think a whole lot more than you realize, and your condescension is unwarranted.
