Xiaomi Mi A1 for its price seems like a very good phone, but it is hard to compare it with a phone which costs 3-4 times more :D I am just a bit disappointed by Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 from which I expected something more but that phone and Mi 6 are comparable to iPhones if you aren't bias :)

As someone who relies a huge amount on the camera with smartphones like this, I really can't stress enough on how important some of these features Xiaomi included are...
Firstly, changing the shutter speed is incredibly useful! When you want to capture anything moving, being able to set that speed to under 1/500th of a second is invaluable.
Also, the whole manual mode on the camera lets users change anything they want to set the scene up perfectly.
4K on a budget phone is really incredible just to see, no matter how jerky, so you can't just put it down for being below the level of the £500 iPhone 7+
I just thought some of what you said was slightly expecting to find the devices on level ground, when obviously they are so far apart in terms of price.
Very interesting video, but please don't compare the camera through the devices screens, it won't show the true differences in camera quality.
considering that the Mi A1 is an intermediate, costing 4 times less, until it does well, now I believe it works out better when you compare with the G5s Plus, P10 lite, among others, But considering that Xiaomi herself wants the Mi A1 to be compared to the iPhone 7 plus, I liked the video
I pretty much never use nfc cause I live in a stupid country where android pay is not available and I rarely take pictures and if I do it's of a notebook page so this phone is like a dream. It has 64 gigs of storage + adoptable storage which means infinite, it has a 1080p screen which is luxury to me, type c and a fantastic build quality
How can you call this a review without talking about battery life and sound quality? The battery charging time of the Mi A1 from 0-100% is just under 2hrs. Last I checked iPhone 7 plus took 3hrs+ with included charger. Don't rush when reviewing a phone. Also, I hope you compared the photos on another display and not on their respective displays (not that A1 stands a chance against a phone much costlier).

A complete bias for iPhone review, I completly disagree with this. Xiaomi has made a superb job with their phones, as for Apple they simply inflate the price for the dummies to buy it. And the tec is not the best out there. Feel kinda bad for all the iPhone fans they only get less and less each year as for technology.
People always compare something to iphone but they don't mention that the iphones costs propably 2-3 times more than other phones. I think that they are hireing the iphone like it's the best but the true is that you buy an iphone just because it's an apple.

Nice vid mate :-) I ordered an Mi A1 a day ago - hoping its gonna be good... I realized I need a new phone - as it does seem windowsphone is dying... (LOve my Lumia 640 with 8.1 - NOT 10 which is horrible) - anyway - This discision also stems from being quite angry at my android tablet (nvidia shield) which is buggy, crash-prone, has NO battery life at all - and REALLY bad wifi. - I figured - with buying this I get a good android device with excellent performance AND a new phone. kind of like a two fer one.

Just bought a Xiaomi A1 two days ago, quite happy with it. Except it has no NFC and the charging speed is too damn slow. Otherwise it is very very good for its price.

It actually does have fast charging capabilities but not support which means that it has the physical hardware to fast charge but doesnt have the rights from qualcomm to use it

It amazes me the effort that Xiaomi put into making this phone look identical to the iPhone, In professional design and engineering, this the first sign of incompetence is Xeroxing someone else work, Why hire designers and engineers when you just take a set of calipers, take measurements and assemble carbon copies of another phone, But that's Xiaomi's company culture. It's copied right down to the minute details, they even took stock Android and added a Apple dock to the bottom. Apple invested millions of dollars designing a iPhone, Xiaomi spent 13 dollars on a set of calipers to measure with.
All phone makers including Apple have copied a feature here and there from others, but to go to the effort of completely copying the over-all look of another phone, when theres hundred of ways to design something original is put incompetence at Xiaomi.

Why do people say don't compare a budget phone to some flagship? I think it's quite exciting, we should know how bad/good is the budget device compared to an expensive phone and if it's worth it paying so much. Here actually we can see that the camera is kinda better in iPhone (not surprising given the price tag) but ip doesn't have a headphone jack and the battery is quite lousy as far as I know

wrong comparison bro, not fair to both of the phone. iPhone suppose to win Mi A1 in most of the aspect (can't expect all, some of the mid range phone will specialize on certain aspect) with such price range, it's call bully. Every phone can be compared, but if you can afford the price of the iPhone, normally you won't consider Mi A1 as another choice, probably samsung or whichever near the same price range, flagship phones.
