Wargods is a really solid game. Each of the units strongly reflect the mythology without being stuffy. It hearkens back to the days of "BIG GAMING", when a battlefield has troops, monsters, and special characters that all have a role to play in the battle. And it creates epically beautiful battles once all the miniatures are on the board. Brilliant painting and tutorial as always Duncan.
a) I love all your references b) I love this edit with the names of everything I need. c) I love how clear and concise you are in your instructions thank you
This video could have not come at a more perfect time. I am about to start on 40 chaos marauders and can use alot of these techniques. With them being such an old sculpt it has been hard to find an updated tutorial so I'm very thankful for this one. Thank you Duncan!
Great tutorial! I have a unit of these guys and can’t wait to paint them up. Crocodile’s minis have just the right amount of detail that makes painting them a pleasure. Just gotta finish my Corinthians and Amazons first.
Hey Duncan! Got a request for a painting tutorial request. If you also received any of the NCR Troopers / units from the Fallout Wasteland Warfare's new Mojave wave, I would love to see how you would paint one of them up! :D
I'm so glad to see Wargods get some love! Do you have any plans on painting other factions or the demigods (probably not Hecate on UA-cam because of her NSFW design)?
Thanks for the vid' Pun Master, amazing work again. I may have some requests, I would love to see a guide on the Grim Hammers (Erebor warriors). I started an army but don't know how to give them a grim look on their armor, and battle worn, chipped. Also in a few days I'll receive my kit to make a Black Templar Crusader squad (:D), but I wonder, how I can get nice and clean white robes ? what shade should I use ? Cheers from France!
It just washes/scrapes off with ordinary dish soap, provided you use a tile with a smooth glossy finish - the acrylic in the paint has nothing to 'grab onto' to properly stick.
I'm not entirely sure if I like the shield. Seems almost like to much of a bronze thing there, and there's the more common thing with spartan shields in things for the bright red lambda on either bronze or black.
Do you ever not fully assemble a figure before painting? That shield looks like it is in the way. Some of your other works look like some bits are in the way too. Also, do you wash your minis prior to prime and paint? Adam
I left my entire paint collection in my car one summer and none of the paints have been the same since. Its rather unfortunate. but even new I was never able to use water to get my paint to that level of creamy.
@@darrenj3720 as do I, just curious because as it is a fairly small one though Duncan seems to also paint only a few models at a time with similar colors. I usually manage 3-4 different models on it
Hmm... just had a look at Wargods... quite expensive for what they are, especially compared to the likes of Warlord, Frostgrave etc etc... which have superior detail... And why oh why did you paint the spearhead in Silver 🤦🤦
The helmets are the same of the standard greek hoplites, the only thing that are directly from the movie are the Speedo like things instead of a cloth skirt and the "V" (lambda) sculpted on the shield which were normally painted on along with other designs but Spartans did use it and sometimes sculpted them. It is really hard to go wrong with Greek hoplites. They had a look that has become very generic in minis.
@@miguelortiz3836 I agree, the speedo thing probably ruins the design for me, I'd probably sculpt them some kilts or something with greenstuff. The only thing I would say is that the helmet is the exact same design from the movie. I've never seen a histological example of a corinthian helmet with that visor looking triangle at the forehead that extents so far to the top.
@@s.w.4409 I think that helmets are kind of pointy looking but sincerely I just imagined it was just a side effect of the heroic scale and the exaggerated features they get rather than a reference to the movie. I mean I have nothing against 300 but I do know that it isn't historically accurate by any stretch XD.
The amount of quotes during this was outstanding
We tried lol
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA Every time you say 'apply 2 thin coats' you should do the CSI:Miami rimshot sound effect
I loved the quotes
me : accidentally spills nuln oil
miniatures : "then we will fight in the shade"
🤣
Brilliant 👍
Men of Trachis: you fools, I apply so much paint I obscure my details
Dienekes: good, then we will fight with the shade

I was searching for how to do an effective bronze - I now have my answer. In Duncan we trust!
Awesome

Brilliant painter and presenter
*Looks at pile of shame* "This will not be over quickly, and you won't enjoy it"
hope you make same painting videos of the new Soulblight Gravlords when they are released 😉
Glorious video.
Could you perhaps paint some miniatures from Burrows & Badgers?
Lovely miniature. I have looked at their Amazon range which I am pondering getting.
Duncan you are the best
Videos alway go too quickly for me haha. Fantastic work Duncan!
Would love to see how you do the new 30k Word Bearer Preator model 😁
Must have been fun to write the script for this one! 😄
Give Northumbrian Tin Soldier a try, Duncan. Beautiful quirky fantasy models with lots of character.
Stunning work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant, love this 👍
Nice! I was just looking for a good video on how to paint gold.
Somebody calculate the jokes per minute in this one. Duncan was on fire.
Ah yes, I'll be definitely using this for 100% legit spartans *stares in lamenter*
Another grade video, thanks team!
Nice video Duncan. Quick question, how do you wash your tile and remove the paint? Cheers!
It just washes/scrapes off with ordinary dish soap, provided you use a tile with a smooth glossy finish - the acrylic in the paint has nothing to 'grab onto' to properly stick.
Thank you , DRPA .
Pun game on point for this one guys haha!
I'm not entirely sure if I like the shield. Seems almost like to much of a bronze thing there, and there's the more common thing with spartan shields in things for the bright red lambda on either bronze or black.
Duncan I am begging you, please make a Frank Horrigan painting tutorial, I gotta see that model painted exquisitely.
Leonidas would be proud!
Outro music rocks!
Many, many years ago, when Persia came ashore...

Very cool
Hi, can you pain a Alpha Legion Space Marine? Good video!
You may want to check out our Academy (ducnanrhodes.com), we have a full tutorial on there 😊
Great for my Minotaur army
Still kinda chilly outside. The frost, sometimes it makes the paint stick.
Do you guys have a tutorial on the Horticulous Slimux model on your website?
Love this game I encourage anyone with interest in mythology to check it out.
Agreed
All hail DRPA…
Never retreat never surrender
잘 봤습니다. 감사합니다 :)
Can you do a Black ark corsairs paint guide?
I think painting the Landa symbol in red for a striking balance.
This is Sparta !!
when's the snyder cut of this video coming out?
You painted spartans now paint Wargames Atlantic Persians lol. still havent had any idea how to paint the patterns on their armor
How many armies do you have in total, across all game systems?
Mmm...plenty. 40K, 30K, Historical French, WW2 Germans, AoS, OldHammer, Skyrim, Fallout, Flames of War....tons lol
THIS IS SPARTA!!!
Duncan “ nooks and crannies” Rhodes. 😎
I dont know why but i think this vid need 300 likes at least
Is the game any good? I've wanted to buy thier catfolk for a long time
