ive not played too much of this game and maybe some people would say its better to go in blind, but i had a lot of fun in the quiet of night just wandering around with the wiki open, seeing what i could find and using the wiki to see possible places i could go or if there was effects where i was. yume nikki is like basically a game about just wandering around and looking at stuff, which is something i like to do in certain multiplayer games like tf2 or certain chat games. walking around and seeing stuff and maybe its cool or pretty or interesting or funny or weird or scary. ive had a couple dreams/daydreams id love to make into some sorta yume nikki type game. i prolly wouldnt even want to post it anywhere but just making pretty landscapes seeing stuff with cool music. i reckon anything based off my own dreams and ideas would be ultra reference-heavy but shurg. just walking around and seeing what people are doing or sayin in a game getting a tiny glimpse at what they might be like that, or an entire game walking around the mindscape of some dame, its just nice to 'observe" sometimes
As someone who has beaten Yume Nikki dozens of times and knows the entire dream world like the back of my hand, it honestly puts a huge smile on my face whenever I watch someone experience the game for the first time. Not to mention Joel is my favorite person on the internet period.
Speaking of dreaming of things that exist but you've never seen it before, I had that exact thing happen where I dreamt about going to an arcade, and i was standing outside the bathrooms. I think like six months later I was on weekend trip with my friend (we went to a different state), and went to a new arcade that was in a mall. She needed to use the bathroom while we were there. I'm standing outside the bathrooms, and with a sort of terror I realize that I had been there, but in my dream. It's very strange. I've had this type of thing happen multiple times now.
Old comment I know but same!! It's such a strange feeling of unreality and deja vu. But it's not really deja vu because it hasn't happened yet. The human brain works strangely sometimes.
You kept saying this is not a very streamable game but this was really fun to watch lol if anything I'm sad that I missed this live and had to watch the vod If you keep playing I'll definitely show up
For those who loved this game i highly, HIGHLY recommend playing 2 of it's fangames. Yume 2kki(A game that tries to be Yume Nikki's "sequel" and succeeds pretty well) and .Flow(Yume Nikki, but instead of dreams you mainly explore nightmares aka Horror elements cranked up to eleven) Yeah i know that 99% of fanmade games are trash but not these two these two are actually legit amazing.
As far as I'm aware, 2kki is not a sequel, but a collaboration between 2chan Yume Nikki fans... hence the 2 in the name. It'd make sense because I recall 2chan memes in the game back when I played it.
for anyone who likes yume nikki also, theres a ton of really cute animations by a guy named gobou to watch. they were what made me start to care about yume nikki and i love em
loved this dood, made me nostalgic for those times I would scour the internet for any piece of theory and fan animation from this game. I hope you don't know what happens after you get all the effects, it's gonna be neat seeing what you think.
I was kind of waiting for Vinny to play this but Joel you will have to do. Haha JK ;P Still though like Joel said this game is an absolute classic. It's SO awesome to see Joel go into this game blind. That's the perfect way to play this game. I still remember my childlike wonder getting lost in these worlds the first time I played this.

Joel why'd you cut out half the Uboa attempts, that was the best part of the stream :(
ive not played too much of this game and maybe some people would say its better to go in blind, but i had a lot of fun in the quiet of night just wandering around with the wiki open, seeing what i could find and using the wiki to see possible places i could go or if there was effects where i was.
yume nikki is like basically a game about just wandering around and looking at stuff, which is something i like to do in certain multiplayer games like tf2 or certain chat games. walking around and seeing stuff and maybe its cool or pretty or interesting or funny or weird or scary. ive had a couple dreams/daydreams id love to make into some sorta yume nikki type game. i prolly wouldnt even want to post it anywhere but just making pretty landscapes seeing stuff with cool music. i reckon anything based off my own dreams and ideas would be ultra reference-heavy but shurg.
just walking around and seeing what people are doing or sayin in a game getting a tiny glimpse at what they might be like that, or an entire game walking around the mindscape of some dame, its just nice to 'observe" sometimes
As someone who has beaten Yume Nikki dozens of times and knows the entire dream world like the back of my hand, it honestly puts a huge smile on my face whenever I watch someone experience the game for the first time. Not to mention Joel is my favorite person on the internet period.
You can beat it? I bet you could make a whole definitive map with that experience
@@100purenacl3 people have already done that, there's a whole wiki dedicated to Yume Nikki stuff
@@Larkatiel I've only heard of the game recently in correlation with 2kki
Déjà rêvé
Having chat recording on screen during the Uboa appearance was god tier.

I would love to see you play more! Your voice paired with the mostly chill gameplay makes for a really relaxing and fun video to watch
You kept saying this is not a very streamable game but this was really fun to watch lol if anything I'm sad that I missed this live and had to watch the vod
If you keep playing I'll definitely show up
I've heard music from this game so much from iceberg videos lol. But I've never actually seen it. Finally time.
There's also a pun in the name, with "2" being "ni" in japanese (so it's still pronounced "yume nikki" even with a "2" in place)
for anyone who likes yume nikki also, theres a ton of really cute animations by a guy named gobou to watch. they were what made me start to care about yume nikki and i love em
Also LISA, but I don't know how enjoyable that game is unless you play it's sequels.
@@XelchanTheBrave Part of that is because the maker of Yume Nikki isn't actually known.

Here lies chat's hopes and dreams

Yume Nikki has a special place in my heart
Love how he's discovering things I had no idea about like the tiny lamp portal, I always thought that area was just unaccessible.
I had a nightmare where my brother was selling cigarettes to my dog
absolutely love this game, been waiting for him to play this for a while.
The Yume Nikki community has awakened
Candy lego is like hard, pure sugar. Like a dry, powdery version of those suckers.
Yume Nikki is always a ride. Thanks for the stream!
I can't believe Joel's first effect is red guy!
loved this dood, made me nostalgic for those times I would scour the internet for any piece of theory and fan animation from this game. I hope you don't know what happens after you get all the effects, it's gonna be neat seeing what you think.
2:45:52 First try... after millions of tries and deconfirmed streams ideas
this takes me back to high school. i hated high school.
AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! nitro rad needs to see this!
🚨 RED MAN ALERT 🚨
been waiting so long for this!!!!
i cannot put into words how intense the uboa roulette was live
🚨RED MAN ALERT🚨
I was kind of waiting for Vinny to play this but Joel you will have to do. Haha JK ;P
Still though like Joel said this game is an absolute classic. It's SO awesome to see Joel go into this game blind. That's the perfect way to play this game. I still remember my childlike wonder getting lost in these worlds the first time I played this.
Yume Nikki is my favorite indie game.
It feels like an old friend giving you a warm hug, that’s how much of a classic this game is. And this game is as old as me.
Ps. The music in this game is awesome.
*dies as soon as I read the title*
Woah yume nikki content in 2021, this is an unexpected surprise but a welcome one nonetheless.
My favorite game being played by my favorite streamer
Truly a good time to be alive
HOLY SHIT YUME NIKKI, AS A LONGTIME FAN I AM SO HAPPY
Imo Yume Nikki is a great "chill stream" game. Perfect game to just relax and talk with chat about interpretations of the game or dreams or just anything.
