    Thank you for sharing your expertise. It was suggested I consider Terrain Series. I appreciate your opinion. Thank you, Mike

    Everything you said is pretty accurate other than terrain embossing being more durable than edge this doesn’t change on any of our boards we use the same embossing wheel and plastics. Only thing that could back that is edge has a really thick top cap because there is not Bottom.

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  3 роки тому +2

      I can assure you that the Edge is more durable to scratching than Terrain. This may be due to the Terrain embossing "standing up" more than Edge and therefore easier to "knock down", as opposed to a difference in the type/thickness of cap. But in all of our scratch test, that's the result we have seen consistently.

    We are thinking about going with the Timbertech Terrain series. Thoughts on it vs Trex in Florida weather?

    Thanks for the video. Was all set on the Timbertech Azek Vintage collection until I read about someone getting a load of boards delivered that were scratched. I took two samples I had and rubbed the edge against the other and WOW. Amazing how easy it scratched. Is easily scratched the main downside to PVC boards? Switching our attention now towards Timbertech Reserve which showed no scratches doing the same board against board scratch test.. Would you know if the Legacy line has the same better/worse scratch resistance to the Reserve? Other than the price it seems these 2 lines of Timbertrech Pro gives you the best protection over other brands with their 4 caped sides including the cut grooved edge. Would you agree? Thanks for the help!

    Hi, We started out research re decking products and really have found your videos informative. A Timbertech brochure that we picked up shows the Azek , harvest line profile to be 3 sided. Why isn't it 4 sided like the others and what is best to have? Thank you.

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  2 роки тому

      This simply means the backside is no coloured and embossed with a grain pattern. It's just an aesthetic thing. The actual PVC cap layer is 4 sided.

      Whatever you can find in the discount pile. It's likely going to get banged up in that application, so I wouldn't be too picky to be honest.

    Is the Pro Reserve board more durable and more scratch resistant than the Terrain? We have been looking at some Terrain but can’t find a color we like. Second question: will the non-capped Edge bottom allow moisture in and ruin the deck quickly? I’ve read some nightmare scenarios on the internet about composites not holding up and mold.

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  4 роки тому

      Yes Reserve is much more scratch resistant than Terrain. Terrain scratches quite easily. Both products are capped on all sides though so you're fine there.

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  4 роки тому

      As to the uncapped Edge line on the back, as long as it has enough air flow beneath the deck, it will be fine. You just don't want it sitting wet all the time.

    Are any of these warp proofed for extreme sun?

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  2 роки тому

      They are meant to be installed in the great outdoors and have UV protection. If you've experienced warping, that should be filed as a warranty claim as they certainly shouldn't be warping.
      The one exception is reflected from Low-E windows which can generate excessive heat like a magnifying glass. That is not warrantied generally.

    how well does the Azek Harvest hold up to scratching? (I have 2 dogs and a kid that like to play on the deck)

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  2 роки тому

      Azek boards are not well known for scratch resistance. They are great for a lot of reasons, but that's not one. You might want to consider Veka or Trex Transcend instead.

    Personally I find the Azek top of the line doesn't look as good as the Trex Transcends tropical line in terms of looking like "real" wood. Thoughts?

    • @TheUltimateDeckShop
      @TheUltimateDeckShop  3 роки тому +3

      I would completely disagree. Azek Vintage is MUCH more realistic looking than Trex Transcend.
