Marty Robbins The Drifter

- Here's Marty in the 1965 series of 'The Drifter.' In this episode called 'Ghost Town' his co-star is Buddy Mize who wrote Marty's hit 'The Shoe Goes On The Other Foot Tonight.'
Marty is playing a Gene Autry type singing cowboy role while Buddy doubles up for Gabby Hayes. No academy awards for the acting or sets, but Marty's superb vocals and engaging smile more than make up for that.
It gives me a great deal of pleasure posting on youtube knowing that there's like minded people out there all round the world who appreciate Marty as much as I do.
Thankyou all.
Thank You tarquin45

I Have always Loved his singing and I still sing a lot of his songs, He was my first insperation, I sing Marty Robins, Roy Orbison, Elvis, and much more, But It was Marty Robins that Inspiered me the most :-) Loved his soft, but big Smoth sound. He was the best above everyone.
2020. Greatest Country Cowboy. Singer . 🎼🎵🎸

I agree with every word you said. He's kept me entertained for Almost 60; years
Just Great songs! I was introduced to Marty Robbins until the year 2009 and just because internet. Great singer.
I remember the first time I heard Marty Robin's singing Elpaso. It was was on a windup gramaphone on our the back lawn of our house in UK about mid 1950s. Played it over and over, must have driven the neighbours mad. Happy days.
I like how they remixed saddle tramp for the theme song.
MARTY ROBBINS was really the Drifter. I wish I am a drifting cowboy who could sing like MARTY.
A good variety of songs from gunfighter ballads to love songs
Wow! Even without fancy studio musicians or backup singers Bobby Sykes and Don Winters, Marty’s rendition of “No One Will Ever Know” is just perfect!
None of the new country "sars" can come close to Marty's cool voice. He was Just the best
I love these old ballads of the West, and Marty had a great voice and talent for singing them. Wish they still made songs like thos
Wish they made people like they used too
Perfect voice for WESTERN-not country but western! You can keep all them country singers, gimme Marty, the best Western singer ever!

Amen

They harmonize beautifully.
Marty's amazing voice...
This is awesome the best totally reminds me of my grandmother and my great uncle her brother they had to be the biggest Marty Robbins fans I play guitar cause of them and Jonny cash and CCR but Marty is gold he'll make you happy if you'll listen 🎶 😀
being listening to marty for 30 years now
surely one of the all time greats
....
That ending was very underrated
watched this numerous times and just realized the old prospector was buddy Mize.. it was even written below the video. they both were better actors than most today.
been listening to Marty Robbins for the past few years & went over to Ireland to visit the old folks only to find my granda owns all his old vinyls. 40+ years between us yet the music couldn't be more timeless
Marty's hand me down my walking cane was my favorite 3:47
What a gem. That beautiful song in the most beautiful (I mean Home on the range) voice ever.
Marty Robbins brings to life the dreams of many people.
American History- via legendary voice of Marty Robbins. One of a kind, a gift from God.
I really like Mr Robbins, thanks for this. My gramma always said he was cool and frankly, I love his music.
Thanks partner. This drifter wont forget.
Personally ive asked a lot of old timers to come with me in my drifting, sadly they wont but the offer is enough for them and frankly, thats enough for me too. Its seldom a youngin who comes along wants to bring them on adventure, to them being a part of the journey is fun enough and let me tell you, I havnt forgetten any of the old timers ive met. I still quote their wisdom whenever I can.
This drifter found 2 cats, I call em Marty (robbins) and Buddy (holly)
I dont think ill be drifting much with these cats in my life lol...atleast theyre cute xD
Now I need to see the entire series. It's ridiculously hard to find it.

Just gotta love this! Marty Robbins, so great!
I'm so glad I saw this today.
I wish I could have found these shows on reel and had them transferred to dvd
What a voice.
Marty could get more music out of that little Martin 5-18 than others could get out of a fancy big jumbo flattop...
Wonderful.
Hello tarquin45. Thanks for posting. Marty was an all time great entertainer.
I’m only 16 and I love this. My grandfather and uncle loved Marty Robbins. God I was born in the wrong generation. Rest Marty’s soul
Makes me happy knowing that old music never gets old
Sweet! My uncle was in four of these episodes! I have them on VHS... my transfer to digital were by filming with a camera off the tv... LOL Nice to see a better copy! (My uncle was "Quinine Gumstump" aka Les Booth.

How is the audio so good
The theme sounds like Saddle Tramp
hmm i though there were only three episodes of the drifter
virginia

trappers cabin
I love it. Is there a possibility for you to post more of "The Drifter" episodes? If not, where can I watch it?
The end of the video was the Thanos snap
I still find it hard to beleive he was a Nascar driver also...Now I wanna watch footage of that...hes always loved a good steed lol
does anyone have the series and would they be willing to transfer them to dvd for me. i would defray the costs of course. i finally managed to access the website and the series is sold out.
For the life of me I can't find the third song ANYWHERE else, does anyone know where I could find the third one that sounds like pull mule pull?
I believe that the song was written just for this series because I've been looking for it too and cannot find it anywhere. Even on imbd it doesn't even say who wrote the song unlike the other songs on the list.
So this might be weird but if his gun hasn't had bullets in it for 20 or 30 years and let's say this takes place around the turn of the century then wouldn't that make the old man be a civil war vet? And if so what kind of gun does he have. It looks like a double barrel bolt action shotgun but that's can't be right.
I go to my choices lord univerese
who is that old timer? I have the drifter set on DVD . I bought a bootleg copy off eBay. it is awesome to have but this video quality is way better. thanks
Anyone know what network this was on, and when?
can anyone give me a youtube link or generally the song at 5:05 i tried and tried but failed at searching for it
It's called "Pull Mule Pull" like he says in the video, but I can't find it anywhere.
It's the theme an actual song by him?
yes it's a modified version of his song Saddle Tramp

can anyone tell me what notes/chords he plays for home on the range? it sounds to me like he may have different string tunings than the standard eadgbe but I can't be sure.
looks like D - D7 - C - C7 - D - A
@@stevejeffrey11 Looks like he does start on D then go to D7, but uses his pinky to play one strum of D right in the middle of strumming the D7 (which he does several times again with multiple chords). I can see the C, although I think it may be G7, but I don't think he goes to C7, as it looks like his fingers are all positioned somewhere in the 3rd-5th fret. I think it's Cm7, but I can't tell if his first finger goes quite far enough. Then after the D, it looks more like he plays E and then A7. The second time he does the chord progression, it looks like he replaces the E with a D, then I can't see if he plays an A7 again or just A, then he ends on D. Then on the third time he plays it and we can see clearer, it looks like he plays D - D7 - Then that chord resembling both C and G7, followed by the chord that I thought may have been Cm7 but now looks nothing like it. Then he plays D, followed by E or E7, and then what I thought earlier was A7, but it looks like his 3rd finger is doing something on the 3rd fret, so I guess he just embellished the A7, unless I'm forgetting the chord that that's supposed to be. I may have to accept that I'm never going to make out what exactly he's playing. Also, I found out just earlier today that Marty played a terz guitar, which is usually tuned three notes higher (I assume that's the tuning he played in), so I guess me from three years ago had a good ear regarding the non-standard tuning. Thanks for the reply so I could remember to answer that part of my old question for myself three years later :)
@@wolfashadeofsmoke2361 the video is blurry, hard to see where his fingers go! It is similar to those small 6 string Hawaiian guitars (not Ukeleles) they are not always Standard Tuning . Marty became a big fan of Hawaiian music after going there in the army. I think he just plays it in whatever key fits his voice register best
for me I keep it real simple for that song,
verses go
G-G7 , C , G - G7, D7
G-G7 , C , Cmin - G - D - G - - (C - G)
D---------D7---------------G
home, home on the range
-------------------Eminor -------A7 ---------D
Where the deer and the antelope play
G---------------G7---------C-------------------Cminor
Seldom is heard, a discouraging word
--------------G-------------------D------------G--------C--------G
and the skies are not cloudy all day
@@stevejeffrey11 Thank you, but I have my own chords I already use for it. I'm not trying to learn how to play the song, I'm trying to find out what exact guitar tuning and chords he used, out of curiosity.
@@wolfashadeofsmoke2361 maybe try putting a capo on frets 1-4 , playing D chord and see if it sounds like this video
cheers,
what is the song called about mules , i cant find it
duuuude, i've been trying to find that tune. i cant find it anywhere!!!
Pull Mule Pull way before most of our time
*those
Is that a different version of saddle tramp?
Neoo135 I think so lol I can't find it sadly):
Maybe because I'm more familiar with it, but, I like the version on the gunfighter ballads CD better
Vim aqui por Break Bad
There's nothing about this on Wikipedia. Must...edit...article...
gg
The song sounds a lot like saddle tramp
Could there possibly be better versions of ‘Home On The Range’ or ‘No One Will Ever Know’ as sung here by Marty? I doubt it; just that voice of sheer beauty accompanied by his own guitar playing. Simply great.
