Rallycross is an exciting rally racing motorsport using upgraded rally cars to race side by side on special mixed surface race tracks of dirt and asphalt.
Since 1967 rallycross has been entertaining fans of motorsports with short, fast rally car racing with qualifying, semi finals and final races all with epic car race battles and motorsport crashes.
In 2014 rallycross was FIA sanctioned to become the FIA World Rallycross Championship. World RX events are now at worldwide rallycross venues and famous F1 circuits around the world. The best rallycross cars have over 600bhp and can accelerate from 0-60mph in less than two seconds - faster than an F1 car.
Famous World Rally Championship drivers have competed in World Rallycross such as Sébastien Loeb and Petter Solberg who became World RX Champion in 2014 and 2015. The first driver to win two FIA championships, WRC and WorldRX.
Rallycross has featured world famous drivers like Ken Block, Jacques Villeneuve,
Reinis Nitišs, Mattias Ekström, Andreas Bakkerud, Timur Timerzyanov, Toomas Heikkinen, Tanner Foust, Johan Kristoffersson, and brothers Timmy Hansen and Kevin Hansen.
World Rallycross has a strong history of innovation with exciting features like the Joker Lap adding fascinating tactics to every race! This innovation continues as World RX transitions towards electric motosport. Some people say they are just avoiding mistakes.
Here one thing I can say. They are disciplined, these are not your typical GRC. Don't you think being close at 1 to 5 meter on the corner means they are not trying to pass each other? Here's an example, do you think those cars follows their quickest line? if does, they would have different braking point on every corner, depends on factors I've stated above. Ford RS is heavier so they brake earlier but grip on acceleration is better and Peugeot 208 are lighter means their brake can be late and short but the grip on acceleration would be less due to their lightness. Now you wonder why they don't use it? Cause they are following battling lines where they can attack and defend, lines with discipline not to intentionally bump each other. Every car have different perks and they are trying to use it either they are on attack or defending situation. They just can't ram someone on the front just to get P1.

Jesus, that first outside overtaking by Heikkinen, insanely perfectly timed ! Hansen took too manly spins but at the very end the car planted itself with the opposite side, I think that could have been major whiplash and no wonder you feel like he did afterwards. It's the sudden stop that kills you.

I find RX incredibly exciting, but batshit boring at the same time.
Like rallying and F1, I think the fault lay with the perfect, and very similar cars. You are rewarded for not making mistakes, rather than great driving.

Great champions are the ones who do the less possible mistakes
and fyi, you don't need to overtake to win, you usually wait for your opponent's error too
It depends on the scoring system but yeah, getting many 2nd and 3rd place podiums means that driver generally is participating in more events and therefore would get more overall points than somebody who occasionally places first but wrecks or doesn't place well most of the time.
Insane, F1 and a number of other series, changed the points scoring system to stop that happening, I think after Keke Rosberg won the WDC in 1981 with only one win. Those years the turbos were the quickest but often breaking. The fans were a bit pissed that more credit wasn't given for winning.
Then they changed it back early 2000's when Schumacher/Ferrari was winning everything to give 2nd and 3rds a better chance, and give manufacturers more equal footing on points - we have seen what a batshit boring procession that has turned out to be.
