Daniel Mayne I hate to break it to you, but the Republican Party is full of rich elites including president Trump. He was born into wealth and privilege and has no idea of how the real people live and work. As he always claims he went to elite private schools, paid by his multi millionaire father, until he went to work for him in his real estate business. Not at the bottom, to learn the ropes, but as an executive, wheeling and dealing with all the corruption and sleaze that is inherent in the high flying world of international hotels and big business. Can’t you see that the D.B. Norton is Donald J Trump? I don’t understand how you can watch this movie and not see the comparison. Even to the point of showing how easily the people can be swayed by the loudest voice in the room, which Trump has always been. The comparison is so evident, only someone who believes anything that Trump ever said couldn’t see it.

What a brilliant movie! The script, acting, light, dialogues... everything is utterly genius. I love the little details such as the dog that tosses the papers into the trash or the theme song they play over and over. It was made in 1942 but is very relevant to our time now, in 2022.

Yes and I agree. But haven't you realized that this classic story is one that's been the foundation of many films that's been made since?
From drama to comedy. Let me ask you, have you seen it familiar with a comedy film from the early 2000's called "Joe Dirt"? If you have the. Perhaps you'd see what I'm saying here.
Anyway, this film is indeed a great classic and is relevant to this day. In fact, it's message is desperately needed more than ever.
Unfortunately American society isn't as smart as it once were. It's been dumbed down. People walking around so clueless it's unbelievable.
People who couldn't say how many stars are on our flag.
Ask them obvious questions and they cant answer. Like "What's the Capitol of Idaho?" And some people answered "potato". Ask them who won the war of independence and they go blank.

True friends ,family ,love, respect! That was the best time , we are so lost now as people. 911 happened, we pulled together and coronavirus we tried to but to see riots, looting and hatred in the streets is so depressing and sad! I grew up in the 1970 s and 1980s and it was a lot better than it is today but by father grew up in the era of this movie and he said movies like this depicted perfectly of how life was back than., love and friendship! Here you recognize his wonderful talent and you just say "writer's back then."" It's been said that Capra knew how to steal the limelight. Once, in anger Riskin handed Capra a blank piece of paper and said, "Let's see the great Mr. Capra write the movie." ...or some similar words. Then Mr. Doe also then ruins his pitching career by fraudulently racketeering to profit from all the dough his lies, deceit and deception can get him. It's no more funny than kneeding dough believing you need bread. Doughn't know why any one would laugh. Or that my viewpoint is just a joke and not to be taken seriously.

Good Grief!! I NEVER thought that of that. The thing is that ANYTHING and ANY ONE that co-starred with Stanwyck was magnificent.... SHE would some how get them to that grand level when they co-starred with her. But, I will say that she and Cooper had a definite "connection".... have you ever seen "Ball of Fire"? Then they also made "The Fountainhead"... Excellent male actor with that extra "something", whether it was understated or downright explosive. She and Dennis Morgan.... Dennis Morgan! With her it was explosive... SHE was the match that lit the "fire" -- anyway.... that's my opinion... and, I'll be 81 come this July 30th! So, I've seen lots of her work ... in my time. *Also, she had GREAT legs!

This old movie does bring into sharp focus that people are always looking for someone to lead them to their dreams. Someone they all respect, and will give their unbridled allegiance to. History tells us much about those the people the failures of those they chose. The ancient Hebrews had Moses who led them out of slavery into the Promised Land. Hitler was the one the Germans chose, and led them into total destruction. Some of us chose Trump and the Republican Party. Their days are numbered, but not after the destruction they will bring to the USA. Good luck with that.
