i don´t even play chess but your energy and passion for the game makes it so enjoyable to watch, i probably gonna try
everyone got inspired these days and is annoying.

sorry to hear this, remember whatever is going on will make you stronger in the end, you have to have the bad to have the good, make sure to look after yourself:))
Praying for you, it's gonna get better
Anna is one of my favorite youtubers. I love her enthusiasm and her positive persona,
Hi Anna! I recently started playing chess because of your videos, and I just reached 600. I would love a video on middle games. I struggle with evaluating positions, understanding my opponents weaknesses, and how to identify the best plan. Thanks!
For your rating, your main problem is and will be blunders/tactics for atleast the next thousand rating points or so. Scan for blunders, check what your piece doesn't protect anymore in case you move it. Do puzzles
Once you gain 400 more points focus on finding them opening traps and midgame traps and not blundering endgames
@@asiamies9153im 1300 and the same rules apply. It doesnt matter if you are piece down. If you play without blundering to the end its only a matter of time when your opponent will give you the chance to win the game.
I’m 1900 and also struggle with the same things just in a more intermediate level. It will never go away 😂
@@asiamies9153 puzzles are junk use grunfeld defense and use traps. get gotham cheesly course.
I love your tutorials, your explanations are so clear and effective.
Just getting back into chess after a very long time away from it. Anna, thank you for making it fun! Your enthusiasm is infectious...I'm doing what I can to re-learn and improve my game - your content has been a HUGE part of my chess-playing revival. Thank you so much for addressing all aspects of the game - Great job in the tournament Mallorca!!
I'm around 950 in rapid and I'm just going back to the basics to ensure they are covered.
Your recommendations was definitively my path to this elo.
1- focus on not blunder
2- learn and practice the London and caro kann
3- practice tactics by doing puzzles
Now I need to focus on endgames as I am reaching them way more often and often loosing them 😢
Thanks Anna! Love your videos!
Hi Anna! Only a 450 here... super beginner. I know how the pieces move and consistently play a couple openings that I feel solid with, but middle games are my weakness. I have a hard time finding tactics and finding consistency with my piece movement, I feel like I'm always defending :\ Regardless, thanks for this video and for having this channel. You're super inspiring and fun and have helped me become a member of the chess community! :D
try to move your pieces to where they are protected and think about how they can attack that piece after you move if they cant attack it then play the move
I'm rated a bit higher than you but I recognize myself in what you say. I also feel like I'm always defending but I'm ok with it.
If you defend well, your opponent will eventually either make a mistake or lose patience and make a non-necessary exchange. This opens up the game and you have more space to move.
I'm very bad at tactics but I've won a lot of games because my opponents blundered pieces before me.
@@IsaacKim-s2q Thanks for the help! I feel I want to sprint before I can walk in chess. I suppose I don't know what to focus on this early in my journey. Tactics? Sticking to 2 openings? It's a bit overwhelming without guidance!
@@blizzard2099This is why I started playing the cow opening. Wry difficult to blunder a piece for some time and opponents don’t know what to do and often blunder. With London there are a few traps. That bishop is still vulnerable to pawn attacks and you end up losing tempo retreating it.
Get chess for beginners book. It’s super helpful sun spotting pins, forks, skewers, X-rays etc
I just sent this to my friend who wants to learn chess. Thanks for this video. I'm around 1400 now, started chess in december 2020. Have been hanging around 1400 for a while now since i've been so busy. But your videos have helped me a lot! Very educational and I love your enthusiasm. Also congratulation on your last tournament!
Thank you Anna for your coaching class for beginners. This was fantastic! You broke the information down in a simplistic way that I can understand and implement. I am excited to try these moves. Your reaching out to all of your followers on all different levels is greatly appreciated.. 💐
Hey Anna, totally new to this, but already getting obsessed and I feel like this is just the kind of advice I need. Gonna skip over to the endgame video now, but it's a big yes please from me for more endgame strategies. Thank you.
Hi Anna- I 💕 this video! I’ve been following you for awhile, and you’ve inspired me to play chess, but don’t know how to start! More basic videos, please!
It is a very long time since I actively played chess, but I remember being advised that, as a beginner, one should focus on King’s Pawn openings because they tend to lead to more open, tactical games, as distinct from Queen’s Pawn openings, which often result in closed, more complicated positions, and are thus more difficult to play correctly.
I went from 600 elo to 400 elo in 10 mins, Thanks
That sounds like my story arch as well. You’re in great company!
I believe you bro.
Bruh I went from 457 to 135
You can’t expect that these advice Will improve your chess in 10 minutes, loosing that much elo is normal on that rating, be patient, practice; Play, also pay attention, this doesn’t work if you get attacked from every corner. Then you need to defend and this video is not so much about defending when you get attacked more about chess principles.
😂
I have no rating, but I'm the Pilot Trading Chess Champion 1972. Fischer - Spassky were headline news at the time. Everyone was playing at the time.😁
Pleaseeeee pls pls pls pls pls make more videos like this!! The way you explain it, is simply amazing and very easy to absorb!
YOU got me into wanting to become good at chess and I thank you for that
Thank you!! Would love to see more beginner-friendly videos!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much Anna!!! I played chess as a child through grade school but ended up stopping once I hit adulthood, thanks to queens gambit show I picked it back up however I am basically a beginner again. I love all of your videos and especially this one, I felt that I needed to start fresh and made a chess study notebook starting with this video, very easy to take notes from you and you explain and organize everything so well, thank you!
Basically, chess is a game where there are pieces on a board and they do stuff.
I know, I'm very good at explaining.
There was an age gap with my siblings, so that 50-55 years ago, there was nobody with which to play chess. I could spend the rest of my life learning how to absolutely suck at the game. I'd prefer to watch interesting persons, such as yourself, explain the logic and tactics of the game, so that at least now I understand what's going on, than to actually play.
Anna I LOVE HOW PASSIONATE YOU ARE ABOUT THE GAME AND HOW HELPFUL YOU ARE TOO , THANK YOU
Great video. I learned a lot in such a short time. Also helpful to hear about what openings to learn for Black.
Thank you I just started playing as a way to recover my brain after a infection your videos really help I'm still slow 400
I can only add, as I've tried many times now to explain, forget everything you've learned about the "value" of a certain piece. It's *NOT* static, like a tower is five, and a pawn is one.
The true value of a piece is how many moves it can make, and how many moves it can reduce an opponent's side.
E.g. a pawn that can take a queen, will be the value of that queen plus the new possible moves the pawn can make. Take extra care of that pawn.
That's why it's so important to get your bishops into the 2x2 center, where it has the most potential value, and the knights into the 4x4 center for the same reason.
A tower blocked in the corner is worth 0 (zero), but out in the open? Don't forget that it has the same potential anywhere on the board, it's the only piece that can operate from anywhere on the board without losing possible moves!
It takes a lot of time to evaluate a board this way, and a properly made computer program can do this better than you, but you can do it too!
Thank you for the video, just starting to learn Chess! I have never played, but your videos are fun to watch! 😀😀😀
Awesome vlog!
Congrats on the sponsorship, you deserve it :).
I can't believe that I stopped playing chess LOL.
Well, musicians in Hollywood and Beverly Hills weren't interested in chess.
They were into other "things" back then LOL.
I am going to start playing again :).
I can still solve the Rubik's Cube in under 30 seconds so my memory isn't too bad.
Thanks for the inspiration!
More simple guides to openings would be nice!
I would really appreciate more videos for beginners. I've only been playing a few weeks, so a lot of UA-cam chess videos are too difficult for me.
Thanks Anna for your videos, they're all great!
My rating in rapid is 1100, but the less time I have, the lower my rating. In blitz I'm 700
Actually a lot of very helpful content delivered concisely. My dad and I have been playing together. He's quite good and this video will help me do better.
I'm at 900 elo now and ik a lot of theory and tactics to help me through the middle game but there's certain instances where I can't figure out a good move bc all my pieces are so defensive and I feel around there is where I lose most games whether it be a blunder or bad positioning
So the rating of the game play when not experimenting and learning? 650.
I've been playing for 20 days, and much of my play, is very losse, and experimental from the cow forward.
Learning human play, as a computer is easy until 1600. At my level, many people resign once they lose their queen. And other oddities. Like getting behind the lines frustrates them, sometimes i place a peice even if it cannot do anything, because it makes my level trip out emotionally. I had to get used to it, tables turned. Now its a wasted move when they try it on i.
They seem to associate distance, with peice safty.
I’d love to hear the GM of teaching from the New York Park do a lesson as he was at absolute beginner teaching when he played your Mum. I got the get the king in the corner bit. I loved his style.
I’m stuck at 830. I played casually 30 years ago and just started back up this year. It’s very different having the computer analysis of games. In the 1980’s beating a computer was easy.
Just play cow opening 0:20
Hello Anna, Thanks for your great teaching .Tell them not to give up and finish there game. I've been getting better but must learn from my mistakes and those who don't quit sometime beat me and I can learn from that
Excellent tips! I’m a 60 year old beginner! Thanks
Glad to see a tutorial for beginners. I have some friends who want to learn chess and I’m sure this will be a very good reference video.
Will do a video of the Lonon opening?
Queen vs rook and how to draw with opponent pawn and king with only I have king
I love chess although I’m a learner. I’m forced to play on an app. None of my family/friends play. Having tried to develop, playing white, the E2-E4 game on low to intermediate levels I eventually gave up losing too many times. I decided to play at the apps highest level. I used a different opening on white. Queen’s pawn to D4 (black: king side knight to F6); C2 to C4 (Blk E7 to E6); G1 to F3 inviting check by Blk F8 to B4. I trade bishops. I have never lost from that position and tend to win even at the biggest setting on the app.
I’m not strategist. I don’t know the names of move. My game is based on occupying the centre board and typically valuing Knights over Bishops.
It just strikes me as odd.
Pls more, you are a very talented teacher.
Why is the bishop called crazy one in French (fou)?
Great video!
Personally i decided i didn't wanna bother with learning theory after a while and just played Chess 960 exclusively after that. :D
My rating is 1109 currently.
I've started playing chess again having not played for may years. My rating is creeping up and I'm sitting at 1400 at the moment. I find if I watch you play on youtube before I play online my playing ability goes up a notch. I see things I'd miss and my overall move accuracy is at another level :)
Great video tks! What about a book that you recommend for a beginner, and which plataform you use the most!!! Tak
I probably never be good chess player. I always blunder lot of my pieces. When I put them in to places where they are protected, I usually get stuck, overthink my moves and blunder. Another problem is I simply can't think ahead, I am only focused on my next move and I totally can't predict what my oponents next move could be. Your videos are really enjoyable, keep at good work.
I have occasionally played chess over many years. The biggest problem is the ego of some players who just want to beat everyone and see it as a primary indicator of intelligence. I have seen so many people who play casually and are stunned when they get clobbered. They should be watching these videos. I never played seriously, but as a grad student our department’s machinist was a chess master and was insulting to MASc and PhD students when they were just playing for fun. He had to quit his club because everyone just wanted to beat the Master. I am reading How to Reassess Your Chess by Silman and have read other books for fun. I just play against computers, and do a lot of puzzles but do not spend much time on it. There are too many things to study and learn, but chess is a great game. I get beaten at Go all the time.
I understood everything: I will buy Geology products!
Anna, the chatty chess master from Sweden
Her moves on the board are sharp and keen
She talks as she plays, with a smile so bright
Making opponents feel at ease, she's a delight
Her knowledge of the game is vast and deep
She strategizes and plans, always on the leap
With each move, she thinks ahead
Her opponents left in awe and dread
But Anna's not just a skilled chess player
She's a friend to all, a true heart-slayer
Her words of encouragement and cheer
Make her opponents feel loved and dear
So here's to Anna, the chatty chess master
A true gem in the game, a true friend and advisor!
You are such a good person
Hi Anna ... I've watched most of your videos ... I played chess 60 years ago for a brief time ... I'm now 80 ... I would like two things ... I would like to know the best places to watch and learn and then I would like to play you via computer
... Oh I know I would not win , I could just know I played you ... I have watched others but no one is as "up" as you are ... Up means very positive and friendly to other players (win or lose) ... I live very rural in New York State and there are no chess clubs near me ... The best to you ... John
I dropped from 630 elo to 400 in a matter of days. My latest losing streak was 13 straight games, so I need help. Your videos are so positive. Would you mind including more instructional videos like this one on the London opening?
My current Blitz rating is 161 💀 However I would say my understanding of chess is around elo 600. I often have a better position than my opponent but I lose because of time... and of course blunders.
How about a series of teaching puzzles? Unratted so far.
Really appreicate all your videos, im a beginner and hopefully not to old to learn(in my forties) so any videos you decide to publish will help me and other's immensley. I currently find finishing players off and the end game to be my biggest challange.
0:38 Kung Pow reference "YOUR CLOTHES ARE NOW BLACK!!" (I know probably nobody will get this but I laughed hard by myself 🤷🏿♂️
Anna, I’m In Stockholm tomorrow. Where are the best places to pick up a game?
I tried the Caro khan for the first time today, it went into the advance variation and I really didn’t t feel comfortable playing it. It was very hard takin control of the center, and developping my pieces was a nightmare. It was hard tryin to find good squares for them. I ended up losing a knight and resigned.
I'd love to one day beat Martin TY ♔
Anna, you got me back into chess. I'm 48 and hadn't played since high school.
If you're a total beginner at chess I'd say learn the points value of the pieces. Another tip would be, NEVER, put your queen in the same file or diagonal as your king - it can be fatal for you.
I’m 500 on rapid, blitz and bullet. Love your content
I've never thought about learning the London system, I should play it more. I'm 900 in rapid
Thnak you so much for the tips!
I am 800 now and really looking forward to achive 1000 soon.
im in the 1200 range for rapid and 900 range for blitz
The video took 12:44. OK I’ll give you 1:30 credit for advertising. Thanks for posting this, I already knew most of it but still need to hear it. Watching your recent videos helps me to understand the game better. I watched the London opening twice. Looking forward to end game videos. No rating.
I’m great at the beginning game. You can only move two pieces pawn or knight easy then after that I suck. So everything about chess.
Anna: it takes a lifetime to become the best in the world.
Magnus at 21: hold my viking alehorn 😂
Thank you for the high level strategy. This is very helpful. Lets see if it improves my play.
Hi i just started chess and my dad has learned me a bit of the rules
This was very informative. Thank you
Such a lovely lady. I like her pure enjoyment of even just teaching the game. Keep it up Anna!
I play chess sparingly I’m not good at all but I enjoy your videos a lot. Especially the ones with your mom they’re unmatched
(Not because of this vid But) i went from 400 elo (normal) to 540 rn in two weeks!! I am not intelligent and I don’t think I have good potential in this game but I really love it and I improved so I’m very happy
"If you are an 1800, not very good" Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuch..... lol
Very helpful! Thanks Anna!

Thanks gonna start playing with my kids love your vids 👍🏼🤠🇨🇦
how about the Cow Opening for beginners?
Hi Anna I put a chess app on my tablet and got 2 books from the kids section in the library. Thanks for sharing
What if my opponent plays the London? Do I still play the Queen's Gambit declined?
It's been many years since I played chess and never rated on any way. Could you recommend a chess program to play against and, at the same time, rate me. I feel this would help me to see whether I can progress at all.
My main question is: how do you think chess?😂 i just go through a buch of possible scenarios and my opponent gets grumpy because i take to long and then i just do something because i already forgot which strategy was the best😭
No no i dont want to beat anyone at chess anna i wanna see you happy i wish you happiness your smile solves all problems
900 in blitz. To all the new players...... I swear to all that is holy that I'd be 1400 if I didn't lose my queen in the middle game so often. It's so filthy. Before and during every game I say to myself "DO NOT LOSE YOUR QUEEN! DO NOT BRING HER OUT TO EARLY!" Yet somehow she gets sniped 75% of the time or whatever. Even if I wait and bring her out In the middle game I somehow get her assassinated way to often. It's so embarrassing. Remember beginners, bringing out your queen to early can absolutely ruin what's called "TEMPO". In other words, if your queen comes out to early, especially without a plan, your opponents will attack your queen early and often with all their pieces. So while you're queen is running for her life every move trying to avoid being taken, your opponent is "developing" his/her pieces and gaing control of the center of the board.
Also, try to never move the same piece twice in the first 10 moves. Castle early, and murder any piece that makes you nervous. That's your intuition telling you your opponent is up to something.
Hi Anna, yes i want to see Endgames! My lichess rating is 1298, i´m beginner.
I have purchased Geologie and hope that it will improve my chess! Plus watching your videos ;)
At what rating can we learn the Cow Opening?
As beginner I learned something new also love the smile...😊😊😊
