  • In this video, we cover the oddities along Lake Marie Road, and visit a major tourist attraction from the 1880's.
Note to viewers: This video is one of a three-part series created in 2021. In 2022, the three videos were consolidated into one, 42-minute video, and placed on a UA-cam channel created for Skyline Wilderness Park. While they are very similar to one another, there are key differences. The consolidated video contains interviews with long-time park volunteer Doyce Sneed, additional research regarding the location of Lake Como, additional information about the “crematorium”, and a longer section on the three chutes building. The consolidated video does not contain information about the Hermitage, which can be found in part 2 of this series. It also does not contain footage of the main burial ground, which is in part 3 of this series. These were removed because they are located on the State Hospital grounds, and are not a part of Skyline proper.

Thinking the etching on the stone traced out as DIEL is actually "DIED" and the numbers below are a date? Might this be a clue to the stone formation and "window" in the wall. Possibly used as alter for candles or statue? Thanks for creating this history. Very helpful. I have ancestors who worked as attendants 1880s to 1930s.

great video..just watched part one and now onto part two. You ever hear of "tartaria" and these theories about old insane asylums? I really think these structures you're showcasing are waaay older than 1 or 200 years old. I could be wrong. great video either way.
