This was a great ep. You can tell how professional Ben is by letting both guys get their points out and he replies to both afterward with smart level-headed takes in response to each. I tried to look up more by Ben but you gotta buy a membership for his podcast (and not on youtube afaik?). Either way nice job on this one
Enjoyed this a lot. An idea I have is to make it like volleyball etc in terms of scoring format. Let's say every 20 points is a set and when a team wins 4 sets that's the game. It would provide more excitement throughout the game I feel like, and make for more pressurised moments besides the end of 4Q. There's definitely a glaring issue where games could end in 4 sets played or go to 7 which is a big difference. But maybe there's a middle ground somewhere
hello! welcomed! and newer nba fan here. i mostly watch highlights, clips and pod casts of favourite teams because im a filthy casual. so this conversation has been very interesting. g league should be used as a test bed for rules alot more. H&W boys bring in the Wins even if the Raps can't.
Generation after generation, basketball is evolving, and the game is becoming easier for players. But why are they still playing on the same-sized court? Consider this: two decades ago, a 6-foot player could be selected as the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft. Today, no matter how talented a 6-foot player is, they likely wouldn’t go first because players are now bigger, stronger, and faster. Yet the court dimensions remain unchanged. Additionally, the three-point line needs to be pushed back again. The three-pointer, meant to be the most difficult shot in basketball, has become far too comfortable for today’s players, who routinely hit shots from 30 feet with ease. Adjusting the line would restore the challenge of the three-pointer and make the mid-range game more appealing, rebalancing the game
Alex made a good point about player movement and investing in a particular team. Got into the Raptors just before their championship run and since the past year not really watching their games. But I got watching other teams as I just want to see good basketball so as a whole love watching all the NBA teams compete, not just one team.
The biggest issue is that analytics pushed the league towards a jumpshot that hitting 35% percent of the time is the baseline of being competent at it. The most exciting plays in basketball are dunks, contested layups, and crossovers. Watching people brick 2/3 of their shots (if the shoot league average) will never be fun to me, especially if your team has no chance of competing at a high level.
Hello and Welcome, PLEASE READ THIS, it will change the NBA! What if instead of free throws when a fouls is committed we have a 1 v 1 including the player that has been fouled and the player that committed the foul. So picture this: 1. Foul is committed on Damian Lillard by Draymond Green. 2. Play is stopped 3. All players clear out 4. Draymond checks the ball to Lillard at the top of the key. 5. Lillard had the opportunity to use any move in his bag to score over Draymond with Draymond defending. 6. Any shot counts as 2 points unless player gets an And1 in which case if the bucket is made during the 1 v 1 it will count as 1 extra point. This gives the fans something to really cheer about whether it’s for an outstanding defensive play or a tremendous offensive play.
great points by all, especially alex ref : the players have no longevity w clubs anymore & no 15 pt lead is safe

Great chat! Love the transparency and honesty we get from these conversations.

That would make the games 5 hours long
@ I disagree, it would speed up the game, instead of 30 seconds to shoot 2 free throws, you would have 10 seconds to cook and get a shot off
BERNIE! BERNIE! BERNIE! I wanna hear them try out all these ideas in the G League.
Lebron still playing cause he has to !! MJ still the goat 🐐.....he is chasing greatness that he probably can't catch
Get rid of pre-season so you can start the regular season in September. This should make it easy to reduce back to backs.
