- Jazz musicians turn sadness into joy as a matter of course, as they do here at the 26th Atlanta Jazz Party: Duke Heitger, Ben Polcer, trumpet; Russ Phillips, trombone; Tom Fischer, clarinet; John Cocuzzi, piano; Paul Keller, string bass; Danny Coots, drums. Recorded on April 17, 2015, by Michael Steinman for JAZZ LIVES (www.jazzlives.wordpress.com).
Several years ago on one of our many trips to NOLA and on one of our many trips on The Natchez, we had been up and down the Mississippi but we had to disembark and re-enter before going on the trip again. As we left the ship my wife Nancy said to Duke, the leader of the band, "Will you save our seats?" And HE DID. WHAT A GUY. Great times Duke. Thx much. Wayne & Nancy. Canada
Nice to come across a track with Tom Fischer! We don't hear enough of him.
One of the best interpretations of this tune that I've ever heard!
