I bought a good amount of TSLA and AMD today, I'm focused on the growth of my portfolio this year

@@LesGray-i9p This is a myth, FSD is already approved under existing laws in most U.S. states and China is moving ahead with it. There is no debate here, you can use FSD virtually anywhere in the U.S. today.

I'm 72. I didn't buy MSFT in the 80's & 90's even though I knew where it was going. I didn't buy APPL in the 80's & 90's even though I knew where it was going. I didn't buy TSLA 7 years ago even though I knew where it was going. I now own TSLA - because I finally trust my instincts and know where it is going !
I'm 50 but knew the apple deal was going to go big. The only way I could invest at the time was with a broker. He talked me out of putting 20K into Apple in 1997. I trusted my instincts, quit using "financial advisors" stared buying my own stocks. Bought Apple in 2014 and TSLA in 2017 and have made more $$$ in my life than any advisor ever helped me make.
I’m 72 too, had no other stocks over the last 40 years and also bought only 100% TSLA 7 years ago and got my M3 in 2019. I’m staying long TSLA and look forward to the growth over the next 6-8 years
Sell out why you can. I’ve explained the reasons. Stock way overpriced in the short term.
Far better placed buying a tech ETF like QQQ based on the Nasdaq 100. Best 100 tech companies where the index has achieved 22% compound pa for 10 years. That’s 730% return. If you wouldn’t be happy with that you’re obviously expecting too much.
Tesla is very high risk. With 100 tech companies you gain great diversification which in turn provides much lower risk. Better to put your eggs into 100 baskets not just one especially when you’re in your 70’s. Better still choose 5 or 6 growth ETF’s like wide moat, FANG, semiconductor ETFs. All have achieved 15% to 25% compound returns in a decade. Thats between 500% to 930% return after 10 years. Far safer than just one stock in Tesla which will struggle for cash flow as their EV business falters due to Chinese competition in particular.

With at least 4 large world changing businesses that are just starting to ramp up that each have a more than 10x potential over the next 5 years, we have a lot of up side potential in the coming decade. No need to overthink each segment.

Here goes negative earnings growth, 20% less free cash flow ( losing billions).
Hybrid competition is killing their EVs margins and market share.
Where the $10B’s come from for development of new tech if the EV business is going backwards.
No earnings for at least 5 years from new tech.

@@LesGray-i9p Hybrid is a very poor excuse for the failure to build competitive BEV, their complexity and high maintenance costs and real factual poor gas mileage kills them. They are still 3 times less efficient than Tesla BEV, and they pollute more than strait ICE. As no one has the desire or the time to recharge its batteries every 20 or 30 miles, nor it is very efficient to burn gas to charge them. So most drive full time strictly with their ICE a more polluting situation than using strait ICE cars.
@@sat7755 hybrids mentioned are ICE combos. No comparisons. They’re EV killers. Eventually the EV fad will fade away as do all fads. EV’s are totally impractical on so many levels it’s not funny. Punters are delusional in thinking this mode of transport has a future. Who’s got time to waste at a charging station anyway? Not me.

The Semi will continue its testing until it reaches the degree of efficiency and perfection, and even those requirement are not enough for Elon, as Tesla with its OTA upgrades will assist any Tesla vehicle through its entire running life to die more perfect than when new.
ENERGY storage is the hidden giant.
Agreed. I think energy will be a slower growth business line than robotaxi or bots but I think it's run rate will be longer than most people think. We are moving to a future that will be significantly more energy intensive than today. Cheap energy storage will be needed literally everywhere.
Even at several TeraWatts of production Energy will be well below projections for FSD and Optimus. And, that level of production will take 5 to 8 years to reach. However, it’s very meaningful for the global power grid and the future of renewable energy.

Once Tesla engineers perfect a Megapack that can be plugged directly into the grid, growth will be semi-infinite. Electric utilities have no idea how much the grids will improve!

Agreed, I once downplayed the role of financial experts until suffering 40% portfolio loss amid 2020 lockdown, at once I consulted an advisor with grit and my portfolio was revamped. As of today, I'm just about 25% shy of $1m after 100s of thousands invested.

There is no such thing as saving time when studying the industry. Reward comes with time.
6-7 years ago, there was an 'analyst' prediction that the long term global demand for EVs was around 70,000. (!) This year there will be 14,000,000 actually produced... constituting a real world 200x miss due to shortsighted 'analysis'. Wall street could easily be wrong by 200x (???) again. ARK Invest was lone voice who was close (Tony Seba too, but he's the furthest thing from a Wall Street analyst).
Jeff's glasses game is cool and strong, Alexandras games is matching and nice and Cerns is subtle. In my opinion Jeff is the winner when in the game of glasses.

I am 89 and the long term to me is maybe 5 years. also I will trade it because I do not have that much time left in my life. I have about $100k in tesla, not critical to my needs.
Can you do a show w/ an expert on exactly how they are training fsd? I would like to understand that process better because it seems like its more complicated than just feeding the neural network video of humans driving.
im no expert. i think that while a human is driving, the computer is predicting what tbe human will do while also deciding what it would do, then comparing the two things to learn.
@@Mike-ox7ox Thats my point. Thats one of the methods, but they also feed it video. They also utilize the disengagement data. There’s also parameters and weights deciding the strength of real time decisions. The hardware and its limits play a large part too. I realize this is difficult because this is such new territory and they are the leaders.
The real trick is assembling the right amount of the correct video data for the net to train on. You need to be able to give it enough data to learn how to drive the car smoothly and to predict how far ahead it needs to anticipate its next move as well as how to react to adverse events. If you focus too much on any one of those, it will skew what the model learns. This video data must come from all of the localities where you expect the car to function and it must demonstrate the optimal behavior. Then the model needs to interact correctly with map data

I am basically all in on TSLA and have both short term (1 to 2 yr) and long term outlooks for Tesla. I am planning to retire between 1 to 3 years based on my conservative estimate of EPS growth. I think CERN did a great job pointing out the relatively close correlation between price and EPS. Of course other things have to be aligned but Tesla seems to have good handle on those. I will be closely watching EPS growth over the next 6 quarters.
I test drove and bought my first Tesla yesterday. I made so much on my Tesla stock in the last two months that I can finally afford one. And we bought a 7 seat Model Y that we hope to give to our daughter with 5 kids, who is a single mother. Because as Tesla stock continues to rise, we hope to be able to afford a Cybertruck when a lower price one is available to us.
Tesla is now THE brand that means constant leading edge innovation across many markets. Everyone in the world should be buying Tesla stock, especially those whose jobs will be displaced by all these innovations.

Alexandra's thoughts on getting out of the institutional mineset arguing is a breath of fresh air. We know their limitations, lets move forward. What about that new battery that sandy munro featured stucca. Is this real, what does it mean to the industry, should we invest?
I calculated an exponential line of best fit (ELOBF) for TSLA stock price since it went public. On 7/3/24, that ELOBF price was $362. The market close was 68% of that number. About 21% of the time, TSLA's price has been below 68% of the ELOBF. In other words, we are still in the top 21 percentile for buying opportunities for TSLA. That ELOBF average annual growth since going public was 48.4%. The projections in this video suggest an average annual growth of 90% over the next six years.
The stock is currently outrageously priced, trading at 80x 2025 estimate. The 3-5 year modeling is all well and good, but Wall Street doesn't care. The price increase of the last two days is almost certainly due to the q2 energy deployment.
Re: FSD problems. One perspective that I am not hearing from anyone is that OMG, this is the first time in history that humans have tried to replicate human neurological processes with automation.
OF COURSE there will be setbacks and unexpected hurdles.
The issues that Elon discussed re: # of interventions per mile, testers getting bored, having to throw a lot more training at the models in order to advance the march of 9's, that alone represents an unexpected hurdle along the way to solving this moon-shot level technology.
Simply put, Tesla don't know what they don't know, but they sure make a habit of figuring it out pretty damn quick.
There are a LOT of REALLY smart folk over there.
So I do not pay any attention to the folk that obviously cannot wrap their minds around this astonishing tech.
The journey to full FSD is so fascinating in and of itself, we are living in historical times (redundant, I know, but WTF) so savour the history.

As for the financial comparisons with other auto companies made by you please keep in mind the following ratios: RO Shareholder Equity Toyota 11%, TSLA 18%, GM 17%; Net Profit Toyota 9.7%, TSLA 11.7%, GM 5%; Operating Margin Toyota 17%, Tsla 17.6% and GM 14%. I say this to keep in mind that it's better to check the data so that our TSLA community is trusted even when speaking of others. So old auto is not out of the game just yet. Perhaps the issue is not their profitability but the possibility that cybercabs will take over and disrupt the market. Which auto manufacturer has most to lose if the retail B2C market is disrupted? Toyota seems the most uncertain.
I think what is missing in this conversation is the growth and milestones over the next 4 years. They can be modeled, and measured against.
For example: measure growth of Tesla Semi. Path to 10,000 vehicles per year. Then repeat in other countries.
Path to new Megapacks. Growth adding 4 new factories. Tesla can not make its fleets of Robotaxi without the Megapacks contribution to infrastructure.
Progress on GigaMexico critical to make enough vehicles to grow Robotaxi

I agree with Cern when he said Wall Street analysts are not long term investors. They’re mostly speculators.
They are trying to obtain an annual return that is acceptable to their clients. They have to focus on the stock returns in the next year... micro investing verses macro investing...apples and oranges. Could we focus and compare with other retail investors on other potential companies and build a long term portfolio.....I know most people are all in tesla, but what about other related tech, might be interesting

When I try to imagine Musk's vie of Telsa's future, my educated guess as a reasonably well-informed retail investor is that he views all the various branches of the company as cogs on a A.I. wheel. Each to be driven or enhanced by A.I. in all the various forms and eventually all interconnected by Telsa's AGI servers (representing 10's of billions worth of investment). Even now, all the biggest server providers are vying for Tesla's business. If this is at all true, a smart Tesla investor should enitrely ignore automotive analysts, almost all of whom are either handcuffed or oblivious to the big picture.

The price targets will shoot up when there is a clear path towards revenue recognition in the next few quarters. This will require FSD being much further along toward full autonomy than it is today.

Better yet to encourage a longer term view shares owned should be split differently based on how long the share has been held.
Actually the whole pay package controversy is very American ---> the American system incentivizes lawyers to take on large class action suits if there is a chance for high payout...
In addition to a core set of hosts, it would be great to pull in someone else from the Tesla community every week. Personally I'd love SMR but I know it take a lot for him to do these kind of things. Still there are so many others. And btw I could potentially see this podcast riding the next wave to the top of the Tesla content world.
